Shopping for fancy produce is exhausting. Stop in and enjoy a nice glass of sparkling.
Outstanding customer service for special order. I live out of state, and wanted to send a case of wine to a friend who lives in SF. I found this store online and gave them a call. Spoke with manager, Bo Thompson, who went above and beyond to help me. I had a few unusual requests, and he made sure every aspect of my gift was just as I had planned. He suggested some great wines, worked within my budget, and kept me informed of the status of my order throughout the transaction with frequent emails. The wine was delivered promptly, and I'm happy to report it was very well received. I would highly recommend this store for it's outstanding service. I wish all retailers were as easy to deal with as Bo and his crew.
A thoughtful to-go selection and expert bartenders make this wine shop a one-stop destination..
In Short
This sleek watering hole sits in a prime location in the Ferry Building. More than half of the vast space is devoted to shelves and boxes stocked with bottles. Golden walls warm the industrial feel evoked by poured-concrete floors and exposed ducts. The wine bar is tucked behind a waist-high railing, encircled by high-backed wooden stools. A dozen tall tables also offer a respite for weary shoppers.
Great atmosphere, poor service.
I've been here numerous times, love the location and atmosphere, but on almost every occasion I've had terrible service. Some servers have a slight attitude, but the main reason behind it seems to be poor management. No matter what size crowd they have, they are consistently understaffed by 1-2 servers. It's such a simple fix I'm surprised they haven't corrected the problem already.
Also, it would be quite helpful if the wine menu actually had an actual description of the wine's flavor in addition to the 600 year history of the vineyard and its owners.
Great relaxing after-work spot!. I'm here at least once a week for a quick drink after work. Friendly staff, although I do agree with the earlier review about some staff being more attentive than others), good 'by the glass' selections which they update regularly. I've made it to a few of their wednesday wine tastings which are always interesting.
vino haven. by far at the top of my list in terms of wine selection at a winebar. prices reasonable. service is somewhat shoddy depending on who you get but for the most part, a great group of guys. most importantly, the staff definitely know their wines!
Convenient and Cosy For Post-Work Crowd. This is a favorite place of mine for post-work drinks, the staff are very well-informed and helpful. A big plus is that they DON'T try to push you towards the highest-priced wine in your stated range. The barfront offers a nice spot to people-watch the other shoppers in the Ferry building and ensures that you won't miss whoever you might be waiting for. Great selection of wines, very reasonable prices.
