Good Food, Overpriced – They do have great food, however, it's not worth the price. I have discovered other restaurants in the area (Durham, Cary) with the same quality, the prices are much lower. If they lowered the prices, or had larger servings, I would dine there much more often.
The best Mediterranean Restaurant in the area – My husband and I were there last evening. What a wonderful place. The atmosphere is created by the vibrant undertones from the oriental kilims on the wall, the authentic Turkish chandeliers, lamps, the hard wood floors?
The food is no less impressive. We had items form the Appetizer menu ? Mezze Platter, Falafel, Sigara Borgei. Oh my God, what a delicious food. The chef really knows his way around the kitchen. Everything was perfectly delectable and bursted with flavor in your mouth.
I highly recommend the Visne Vodka martini, one of the most delicious martinis I ever had.
Service was good, our server, Inan, was very friendly and had knowledge of the food.
Will definitely go back again!
great mediterranean food , great atmosphere – One of my favorite restauraunts in chapel Hill, the food is deliciously flavored, atmosphere is nice, waitstaff are pleasant and helpful, definitely a must try for anyone who likes Middle Eastern or Mediterranean food. The entire menu is fantastic, but I would reccomend the Manti, Adana Kebab, Iskender Kebab, for anyone wanting to try out the restauraunt. I went there on friday, they were really busy , I thought the service or food quality will be poor, but everything was great. Highly recommended
best restaurant in chapel hill with great food and staff – What can I say? There should be a Talulla's everywhere. It's absolutely amazing. The best lamb I've ever eaten, seriously. the food is always satisfying. The worst part about Talulla's is deciding what to get. The service was great.
We will be back again - and I hope it's soon!! – Wonderful service, wonderful atmosphere, friendly people, great food, reasonable prices in my book. Amazing menu offered choices for everyone in our party, from age 7 on up. It was great to try a bunch of different quite exotic dishes and I can definately see returning again to try some others. We were all full with food leftover with a total cost of $20/person including some shared desserts and some wine - in my book, about the same we could have spent getting chain food elsewhere. Excellent customer service starting with when we called for directions; couldn't ask for better. Thanks for making my British cousins' last dinner in the States a memorable one!!
BEST RESTAURANT IN TRIANGLE – I found this place by surprise and my first impression was absolutely great. I was greated by a beautill host who assisted me to get a nice comfortable table that I liked. Although they where very busy the waiter gave me promp service with a smile, treated me like if me and my company where the only customers in the room. I received everything I wanted, including service with a great smile an no attitude. The food is simple and delicious. Try a few small dishes to get some variety before the main course.Great Turkish beer. This place makes you feel like family. Can't say enough about it...
Unattentive and irresponsible. Lazy service and very long waiting times. – We arrived at 9:20PM, and were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table . . . so we decided to stay and waited in the bar area. After 30 minutes waiting there, we asked the manager about our table . . . as we noticed an empty table to one side of the restaurant. Apparently we were forgotten and had to remind them of our seating requirement and wait.
He said we could go over and be seated . . . which we did. After waiting another 15 minutes at the table without being attended to . . . we interrupted a waitress, asking for menus, which she then brought. After another couple of minutes she then came to the table and said the kitchen was closed, we were very surprised about this, and very disappointed.
We left the restaurant about 10:20 PM . . .
Seated customers should be attended to and served ASAP . . . especially after a long wait. Customers that have been seated should be served, or those customers waiting should have a clear undertanding of when the kitchen is closed . . . having the opportunity to make other arrangements. Seated customers should have prompted dining service to them .. . period.
Hint: go to Turkey and see how customer service is truly performed ! ! !
Bad food, bad service, bad coffee, overpriced! – After having eaten here, it has become my new mission to warn everyone about this place!
As soon as we walked in and were ignored by the staff for 5 minutes, we should have walked out. It was 7ish on Thursday evening and the place was 1/3 full. When a waiter finally did come up to us, he stated he didn't think there was room (there were 5 of us total). After consulting w/another waiter, he sat us down; we were there for 2 hours and only one couple came in after us, so I don't know why they didn't think there was room.
After sitting down, it took about 10 minutes before a waitress came by; mind you, this place was only A THIRD full, so it was definitely not busy. After taking our orders, our waitress never came by to check on us, so we had to resort to flagging her down in order to get her attention for refilling our water and ordering more drinks.
The food arrived and appeared fine. But upon tasting it, blah! My partner got stuffed dumplings, which were bland...no taste whatsoever. She also got shrimp and cheese bowl; it was just a bowl with heavy cheese and 2 shrimp in broth underneath. We love cheese, but this was too much and it tasted awful. I ordered a fillo-wrapped tilapia, which was okay, but should have been better for the price. One of our dining partners ordered the vegetarian assorted platter; she stated it was average, but she expected more for $17.99, which did not include pita bread, which is essential for fully enjoying the various dips on the platter. She had to pay extra for that.
We ended our meal with Turkish coffee. When it arrived, it tasted like water; there was about 1 inch of brown sludge at the bottom. It tasted nothing like turkish coffee should have been.
In the end, this place was overpriced, had mediocre food, and poor service. The only thing I can say that is positive is that the interior design of the place is pretty cool.
If you want fast food go to Mc D's – I was looking for a place to take my mother for her birthday, after reading the reviews I got on my knees and thanked god I no longer worked as a wait person. For those of you who have never had to serve the public, or worked in a restaurant open your eyes. First the all the most popular time to eat is between 7 and 7:30 pm with a 9 (give or take 30 min.) second rush on the weekends. If you want to be seated on a weekend night with speed make a reservation other wise plan on waiting an hour. If you are going to a place with like real food, it takes time to prepare. Real food is not pre-made, like say a place like Apple B's, where they just nuke your pre-packaged food. Also if their is a problem think that is may be something out the employees hands, for example maybe the hostess was new and someone did not show for work. In other words try a little kindness. Don't expect to get in and out of place on the weekend in a hurry, unless it is a burger joint or K and W. If you need some food to help your mood you can always get an appetizer at the bar a and a cocktail. Enjoy yourself that is why you are going out right? I think I will be going to eat here b/c almost everyone said the food was good.
The Best Restaurant In Chapel Hill!!! – I went here last winter with The Triangle Singles Dining Out Group (meetup), and there were 12 of us I think... We got excellent service, the food was INCREDIBLE, the ambience was wonderful, and it is my FAVORITE restaurant in the Triangle area... I only wish it were bigger so we could have had more people come from our group :)
Just an incredible dining out experience for all of us. If you want a place to go to try this incredibly delicious Turkish food, go here... You won't be disappointed!
