Terrible Service and Food – If you want to leave feeling unsatisfied and with a bad taste in your mouth, go to La Strada. The food is bland and too rich. I could not believe the price they were charging for poor service and a meal that did not zing. Would not reccommend.
Italian flavor and New York City flair make this the Godfather of downtown dining. – The Scene
Boasting 18-foot ceilings, large windows with red velvet drapes, and enough room to seat 200 epicures, this sleek, sophisticated addition to the Cultural District has all the pizzazz of a Park Avenue ristorante. The main dining room sports white tables, white linens, white candles, and white leather chairs (pretty risky decor for an Italian restaurant with all that red sauce). A large, open kitchen allows folks to watch chefs prepare meals with grandiose displays of culinary know-how.
Serving mostly Northern Italian fare, La Strada is nevertheless much more than spaghetti and meatballs. The menu is all over the Milanese map with entrees ranging from a tender, tangy chicken marsala to some wood-burning oven pizzas. Portions are large and an appetizer can easily work as a meal. The soups, especially the minestrone, are hearty and come with a basket of crusty bread and tomato-basil butter.
