Needs a lot of improvement/needs a cleaning! – Its my first review so maybe im being too critical? or am i just expecting too much for a decent meal with some attentive waitresses? ahh..disappointment!
I like the crowd-lots of young people who gets loud and lively. *thumbs up*
Food was kind of over priced and its SMALL!! The only thing yummy was their fries, mmm fries made up for it i guess.
Waitresses were not around, barely can get a hold of her.
Young HOT asian girl at the bar doesnt know how to make drinks (is she really a bartender?), *thumbs down*, she made my drink really really watered down, what a waste of my money!
Id say, need a new-er management!
Management completely incompitent. – Aweful. Just terrible. Don't bother. You're much better off eating at Dick's Drive In. If there's a hotdog stand nearby, eat there instead - better value, or even get one of those stale sandwiches at Starbucks. Management is rude and completely clueless.
Don't Go – I really want to like the Magnolia Village Pub. It is close to my house and could be a great place to meet friends and watch a game. Unfortunately, the food is BAD. The first time I tried a salad and the pineapple was rotten. They did not charge me for the salad, but DID charge me for the grilled cheese I ordered afterwards. I waited a year and recently returned, hoping the kinks had been worked out. This time I got the 'soup and sandwich lunch deal'. The soup tasted like chemical cleanser and the sandwich was smaller than the palm of my hand. When I took a bite, the bread was so dry it crumbled away, leaving a fatty piece of turkey and one third of a piece of bacon. I basically had 3 bites for $6.00. Be forewarned: it looks like a great place but don't go. You will be disappointed...
Almost Perfect Sports Pub/Restaurant! – First of all, I think Paul and Jake may be thinking of a different place...I have never seen what they listed as "not straight" crowd (and who would care anyway) and I've been there a number of times. Judging from the crowds and the the large amount of repeat customers I see there, it is pretty obvious these two boys are in the minority. The place is fun for families as well as major sports entusiast. My only complaint there is that they don not have the EPL games on or any soccer channel for that matter, other then that, I would go there for all of the other entertainment reasons.
My Honest Review - Love This Place – Alright, I have to think that t0adman is a plant himself - perhaps from a local bar / competition. There's no way that MVP deserves that kind of dig.
The new management, Kevin and his wife, Su-Jin (sp?) are rock stars. They are committed to making MVP the best place to be for UFC fights, my personal favorite sporting event. The crowd, the management, the food, the tv's, the atmosphere; all are above-par for a sports bar in my opinion - and I've been to many in my life.
For starters, the waitresses are always friendly, always smiling, and have to contend with standing-room only crowds on UFC night; give them a break!
The food is great, they have a Kobe burger that is fantastic. The nachos are also great; stacked high with chicken if you want it. Generous cheese and guacamole. And the price on pints is fair.
I like the billiard area they have set up, with bar stools and bar-top tables that make for a good mix of standing and seating options, so if you have a big crowd you can kind of forge your own niche during a show. Sometimes we have 10-15 people and make a mix of bar stools / standing / table areas; they are very accommodating about this!
As for management - they are always around, keeping an eye on the hosting, food orders; the owner, Kevin, also helps prep food in the back when it gets busy; they are completely hands-on and extremely polite: I would challenge anyone to find a more involved ownership in Magnolia / Queen Anne / even Capitol Hill. They always have smiles on their faces and are always welcoming.
I give MVP 5 big, honest stars; and I'm a regular to FOX Sports Bar, Kells, and others. I love the tight-knit atmosphere, the great ownership, and the comraderie of the locals from Magnolia who make this place above--par. I suggest logging off, taking these reviews (hell, including mine) for a grain of salt, and going to MVP to see for yourself what it's all about. I like to see bars where the management cares, succeed.
This is one of those.
Beware of the "accidental" mischarge.. – You're a dollar sign, that's it. Examine you're tab closely before paying, trust me, and everybody else on this post. Anybody who gives this place 4 or 5 stars is full of it, they're either management, management's friends or are delusional. The management is terrible, the WORST service ever! It's really, really, slow, and what's worse, it's really expensive. I could have gone to a high end bar for the price of this place. Also, it's really annoying how they pretend to care, then totally screw their customer. HD games?? Also, the customers are -- well, it's not what you want in a sports pub... Read Toadman's review that guy hit the nail on the head. I gave it a 1 only because 0 isn't possible.
I agree with everything that toadman said... – First I agree with everything that TOADMAN said. Second the pros, it has lots of decent TV"s, not bad atmosphere, and I didn't think it was that dirty. During the day, you may find children running around, which is a little bizarre. Also, the alcohol is really expensive and the food is only okay. Everytime I went with a group of 4, the bill was over $200. Lastly, I'm not sure if this is the hangout for the "not straight" community in Magnolia, but I went here for several months and it seemed that was the case. It's just not the type of crowd I want for a sports bar, not that I have anything against that community, we just watch sports for different reasons. Like I said, I went here for several months, I just found the fellow patrons sexually explicit commentary during UFC fights really unsettling.
Hidden Hideout – The Magnolia Pub has changed a lot from the old days, when it was located
across the street, but it is still a great place to hang out.
Nice and mellow vibe, no pretense, and good food and beer.
the best sports bar around – i've been going tp the village pub since i've moved here a couple years ago. it has vastly improved since kevin and su-jin have taken over in may, and they are very accomodating to their customers. they have just put out an amazing new menu with a wide range of items that will fill any appetite. its the only sports bar i know of where you can order dumplings and thai flavored prawns with still maintaining that neighborhood feel. new booths, tables and chairs have been added giving the place a clean stylish atmosphere that most sports bars don't have. they have 35 cent wings on monday nights to go along with a great beer selection of 16 on tap, and their happy hour menu is equally as delectable. i had the caribean-jerk berger, and it was amazing, and their onion rings are highly recommended. there is also a tasty breakfast menu that is available on the weekend before your game kicks off. i am a huge football fan and am there every sunday, and they accommodate any game any of their customers want to see on one of their 28 tvs. which makes it easy to follow your team along with any others, for you fantasy footballers out there. there is also free wi-fi availble. the service is amazing, being very prompt and friendly. they remember your name and treat you well. the pub has also just added a new pool table with new sticks as well. and its nice that it is only 50 cents a game. this place has a great atmosphere on gameday, and the great staff only enhances the experience.
