bartenders are fast and friendly. Great view down Santa Row. Drinks were strong and not watered down like some other places (Straits). Ample seating.
Upscale?....please. – For an upscale hotel bar, we were treated very poorly. The security guard presence was so overwhelming that it ruined my experience of the bar. He made ten rounds through the bar/lobby within 30 minutes and followed us as we looked for seating, then chased us out of the adjacent (and empty) hotel lounge because we weren't hotel guests. By 1:25am, he was asking everyone three times to leave the bar. I have never been treated this way at any upscale hotel bar in San Francisco, where they respect their customers and truly understand the meaning of classy.
just OK – I wouldn't mind paying $10 for a drink if it was made right. The bartenders don't know how to make any drinks correctly, just stick to beer, I'm sure they can't mess that up. Besides the drinks, V Bar is really nice and has a good crowd.
Adventurous spice rubs add zest to traditional surf and turf at this candlelit hotel eatery. – The Scene
Pale yellow walls and dim lighting create a romantic atmosphere in the cozy dining room. Couples sit under a warm terra-cotta ceiling at dark wooden tables, some of which are surrounded by translucent drapes that can be drawn for privacy. Service is friendly and knowledgeable, even when the restaurant is short-staffed.
Start off with the tender flaming sausage with Napa Valley mustard appetizer, drenched in grappa and lightly accented with garlic. With meat and seafood entrees, diners can choose from among seven innovative spice rubs. Combos like coffee-and-red cinnamon clove add an unusual twist to traditional fare. The juicy filet mignon becomes exceedingly tender when seasoned with the Texas sweet chipotle rub and drizzled with rich butter sauce. Seared ahi tuna packs a zing when paired with fiery lemon-chili pepper mix. Save room for orange cheesecake, which evokes the taste of a Creamsicle on a fork.
A Gem! – Wow, I didn't know you were there but am so glad I found you. Citysearch came through. I knew about V-bar but never realized there was such a great Steakhouse right next door and within the Valencia Hotel. I brought my wife in for a try and was really impressed. The meal was cooked perfectly and my waiter was awesome. It was a night to remember and thanks so much for being there....plus V-bar is right next door!!!!!
My Review of V Bar – The bar is pretty nice. Comparable to Sunset's Skybar. There are plenty of places to lounge on the side and outside, but the main lounge is rather crowded. Although I think it makes for a better atmosphere. The more the merrier! The lighting and atmosphere was superb. The music was mediocre and the drinks were pricey. Nine dollars a pop!
Overall I recommend it. It is a nice place to hang and there's nothing else close that compares to it. Otherwise I head up to the city if the one hour drive is of no matter.
