Best Soup ever! – The food is great but at times seems really greasy. I go to Swaad about two times a month because me family seems to like it. Of course we only go during the buffet hours. The selection is great but if your looking for their best item i would highly recommend their mango soup. It's also a vegetarian friendly joint. Another thing that isn't so great would have to be the servers, they never seem happy-NONE of them.
Poor lunch buffet - any other place would be better. – My wife and I went to Swaad for lunch today (8/7/08) about about 1:30. I'm a vegetarian and she is not.
The food is really lacking. Details:
- The samosas were lukewarm and greasy.
- The palak panir was flavorless
- The Chana Masala was bland, had no sauce, and had chopped panir
- The rice was greasy.
According to my wife:
- The tandoori chicken tasted bland - as if it had no marinade. I could see that it wasn't colored orange, and didn't have the usual crust of the yogurt marinade.
- The carrot desert was actually OK.
Editorial Review – Authentic noth Indian cuisine served in a classic yet comfortable setting.
Best Inidan Buffett in the area, with great customer service as well. – Being new in Orange County, my lunch friend Dan and I tried this Indian restaurant. When we arrived in the parking lot (11:30), there was ample parking within walking distance to the place. We were greeted very friendly and shown our seats. We went for the lunch buffett. The internet price said $ 7.95, but when you get in, the actual cost is $8.95...ok. We then went to the buffett and what a treat. The tandoori chicken was delicious as well as the Mango corn soup. Their assortment of salad items was pretty good (I don't eat salad, but it still looked pretty fresh). I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori, lamb curry, chicken curry, basmati rice, samosa and Alu Gobhi. Dan enjoyed all of the spices as well as two helpings of food like myself. The rice pudding was great for dessert. I would highly recommend this place if you like Indian food with spices.
Reheated food, Kinda sucky service – I went to this place with my daughter....
The food was definitely stale, and reheated...
When you eat food with a lot of saturated fat, you develop phlegm (just plain Biology 101) and boy I had to go home and drink 3 glasses of wine and work out on the treadmill for 30 mins to get rid of the ghee baked into everything. Totally unhealthy in mind...
Won't recommend it...
Great lunch buffet. Wonderful food – I've never been there at dinner time, but the lunch buffet is amazing. The flavors are great, and the buffet has good variety. Don't miss out on the delicious mango corn soup. I think it's the best thing on the menu. Price is very reasonable and seating is good.
Pretty Good Food, Not so good service! – We usually go to another Indian cuisine restaurant, but decided to try something different. The food was pretty good, I had the lamb shank which was really good, but was lacking a little salt. The mango lasse was delicious! The service on the other hand was poor. The host/waiter didn't appear enthused to have us there, which made us feel uncomfortable.
