Have to agree with the bad service ratings.... – I was SOOOO looking forward to going to this restaurant. Had heard about the French Toast (fave breakfast) w/ creme brulee (fave dessert) cream and couldn't wait to try the dish. Opportunity came along today and while the french toast was okay (VERY skimpy on cb cream and LUKE WARM at best -- which I HATE!) the service was SOOO bad it gave me indigestion. My 15-year-old and I waited over half an hour for our 2 breakfasts and I had to stop a different waitress to ask to get my coffee refilled while we waited. Once breakfast finally did come, I was long out of coffee and it wasn't until I walked up to the bar w/ coffee cup in hand to get some coffee that our waitress got up from a table where she was filling shakers to refill it -- didn't bother refilling the cream packets, though, so I had to go without. Not ONCE did she stop to ask if everything was okay. Even though the diced potatoes that came w/ breakfast were to die for (and hot, at least), I will never go back to this restaurant.

Extremely Bad Service – This was our first time visiting the restaurant-- we had heard they opened up for breakfast/brunch. Overall, our experience was very, very disappointing.

I ordered one of the specials-- quiche. Being an experienced home cook, myself, and a huge foodie in the Cincinnati area, I was beyond disappointed in the quality, texture and flavor of the "quiche". Anyone who has any knowledge of French food or even French-American food would NEVER call this quiche. It was quite literally a cube of eggs with a few peppers/spinach on top and a piece of provolone cheese melted on top-- NO CRUST. That is not quiche.

I struggled with whether or not to send the poorly prepared dish back, but I realized that I am rarely that disappointed in something and that they needed to know...

Our waitress was MIA, so we flagged down another waitress who was very polite about the whole thing. I told her that "I didn't care for the quiche" and that "it was not at all what I expected". She sent it back and sent our real waitress over, who was visibly disturbed, but took my order again, nontheless.

This is where it gets bad...

The waitress returns with my quiche plate (the quiche had been mashed up by someone) and says "Well, you can eat your potatoes since your other dish has potatoes." I just moved it aside and didn't touch the plate-- which had been "in the back" for at least 5 minutes before she brought it back. That's absolutely uncalled for.

My new dish came out-- mediocre, is all I have to say about that dish. To the waitress' credit, she did apologize; however, when she brought our check over, she charged me for BOTH PLATES. When I asked her about it, her response was, "Well, if you order something and eat it, we charge for it." I replied, "I took one bite of it, was extremely disappointed and sent it back. I did not expect to pay for both." She said she'd "see what [she] could do."

The manager came over, was extremely defensive and asked me, "What specifically was wrong with your dish. We sell a lot of quiche." I told her what I wrote in the first paragraph. She said, "Well, if you order something, you buy it." (Sarcastic sidenote-- oh ok I'm glad you care about customer service, because that's EXACTLY what that kind of comment conveys. It just screams, "We care about our customers' satisfaction!")

When our check was brought back to us "corrected", they comped me for the lesser priced item-- the plate I actually ate (instead of comping me for the quiche which was just short of $10). I (and my friends) didn't feel like addressing the issue, we just paid (no tip) and then left.

It's not surprise, but I will never go back. In fact, I would never recommend it to anyone.

If this long-winded critique changes anyone's mind from going to Mokka, then I have spent my time well. Try Otto's instead!! ;)

Awful – I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! The service was horrible. First, our orders came out wrong. Once we discovered the problem, we informed the waitress. She apologized and took the plates back to correct the problem. We had ordered 2 chicken gyros. One was ordered without onions and added Mushrooms plus waffle fries, and the other without green peppers and no mushrooms plus sweet potato fries. Upon her return, she brought back the exact same plates and had switched the sandwiches. IE the sandwiches had been places with the wrong side order. However, both gyro's had green peppers. They (the kitchen) had picked off the green peppers from the sandwich. So once the plates were back the orders had the correct sandwich but wrong side and one sandwich had the green peppers picked off. No new food was made. The problem with this is that the patrons who ordered the food already added Ketchup to their fries and began eating off of their plates before they realized that there was a problem with their order. So now they not only have cold food at this point but they have to eat sides that are the wrong order and have someone else’s condiments on the side. We asked the waitress to bring out another order of waffle fries to replace the sweet potato fries that were now the wrong side on the order and she replied that she would have to charge us for another order. We had asked that this be an exception since it wasn’t our fault the orders were wrong.

I had asked to speak with the Manager at this point. The waitress obliged. Upon her return she had informed us that the Manager was busy "upstairs" and asked if we would like to wait for him. I replied, "yes, I would really like to speak with him, because if this was my restaurant I would want to know about this." She obliged once again. Later in our dinner someone had come to the table that I assumed worked in the kitchen. He was wearing black and white stripped baggy paints, a black apron, a cap, and had a towel stuffed in his apron with food stains on it. I was positive this was not the manager but more likely the cook. I explained all of the above to him. He acted apologetic and asked what he could do to fix the problem. I told him that it was a good thing we are family and didn't mind eating after one another. I also explained that if this had been a business luncheon I would have felt embarrassed in they way this dinner was handled. He offered us coupons for our next visit. I declined and told him there will not be a "next" time. The meal cost me approx $29 that was worth maybe 5 for the drinks we ordered. I take the time to write this to inform everyone I can about this poor service I experienced at Mokka.

BAD waitress--avoid Kathy! – So this was my fourth time eating at Mokka, and I've come back every time for the delicious breakfast food. No doubt, the Mokka French Toast can't be beat--overpriced though it is. However, on this trip, we were sat outside initially in the 90+ degree heat and humidity after asking to be seated inside in the AC, due to my allergies being terrible the last few days--this, mind you, after waiting OUTSIDE for a table for 20-30 minutes, since they have no indoor seating area in which to wait. After my partner had again gone back inside to request a table change, our waitress-to-be, Kathy, rudely greeted me with a condescending, baby-talk attitude: "What's the matter, you can't breathe?", apparently she being the only one who found herself funny. She was offended that we were moving inside out of her seating area, instead of being friendly, sympathetic, or otherwise service-oriented. After a relatively fine meal, where our waitress (who also played hostess) treated us fairly well--though had to be asked repeatedly to refill our water and coffees--Kathy again returned at the end, apparently not having gotten it the first time that she had offended me, not to apologize, which I readily would have accepted, but again to poke fun at my allergies in a condescending manner. Simply put, this woman should be fired. She belongs in a Denny's on the overnight shift, at best--not at a fine establishment the likes of Mokka. She had the nerve to spout off about "next time," and I could only inform her there would be no "next time" with her. My first trip to Mokka was outstanding: we had the best waitress; unfortunately I don't recall her name, though she has medium length dark brown hair, worn back with a headband, and she talked about her 3 kids. The hostess who plays waitress was alright. Avoid Kathy--her rudeness, insensitivity, and lack of insight and professionalism--at all costs!
