Very good food and service. Exciting neighborhood. – I was there last night. The food was great. We had lobster salad, sushi and sashimi and filet mignon. Everything was good, the service was excellent and we will return.
Horrible Sushi-REALLY BAD! but Nice Drink Menu and appearance – To sum it up: I have used Citysearch for years and this is the first time I felt the need to actually leave a review of my own. Please do not go to Sushi Hana on Amsterdam for the food.
I definitely will not be back to Sushi Hana on Amsterdam. The sushi was horrible. The menu is creative with some unique rolls and the prices are decent but when you get that sushi it tastes like C$@P. All just muddy flavors even the traditional Spider roll was so bland that all i tasted was crunchy and rice.....just horrible...especially when you got to the sashimi and sushi. The hamachi clearly tasted like it was from older fish. Came with skin on one side of it still....never seen that before and you could feel how tough teh fish was on the outside and gooey on the inside. Horrible texture, and no flavor either. I actually couldn't finish it and I usually eat everything.
They do have a VERY extensive alcohol menu, their cocktails are interesting and fun and the sake was great....but truly besides the drinks and the red bean ice cream everything else was literally horrible...even the Edamame were pretty bad.
Awesome night out – Great night out at this place. Good mixture of people. Bar and service is good.
Perfect place for coctails and a light snack.
Highly recommend for a fun night out.
STAY AWAY-not like sushi hana on the east side – Our experience here was so poor. We started with very salty/not well cooked edamame, forced ourselves through some tuna tartare, and didn't even finish the rolls that were unimpressive, had no taste, and were presented with the lack of attention with which they were made. We have had better sushi from supermarkets for sure. It was nice to sit outside but the block was noisy, dirty, and had nothing around it to make the ambience nice. I was embarassed that I made the suggestion!!
Good find for the Upper West Side – Pretty decent sushi for this part of town: decent cuts of fish and some inventive rolls. (Lobster, cilantro, and mango are a good combination.) Standout sake list and service round out the experience. (Just beware of the karaoke if you happen to go late.)
I wouldn't commute from my nabe just for the sushi since there's plenty of good stuff where I come from (the Village), but it's a good bet if you happen to be in the area. Expect to spend about $35-40 for an entree, shared appetizer, and drink.
