Have your 8 year old neice do your pedicure – I have had the worst mani-pedi ever here. The reviews on sales pressure are absolutely correct - expect to go into battle here. They are pushy, rude and manipulative as a group, will upcharge, talk about you, and give you dirty looks for not wanting shellac. But that wasn't my biggest problem. The fact that I received the most hacked, gummy, "outside the lines" gross pedicure ever - that was my problem. I removed it when i got home and regretted my tip.
extremely high pressure sales and they charge for unwanted services – I went with a girlfriend with the idea that we both wanted a simple pedicure and manicure. We both wanted our nails painted and our toes as well. When we got there they were very friendly and easily understood us enough to get us in straight away. There was only one other customer in there.
After making it CLEAR that we wanted ONLY a manicure and pedicure (in a very friendly way of course), they got started. Two girls for each of us. About 5 minutes into my pedicure the girl taking care of me told me she was going to give me a special pedicure. That's all she said. I had a hard time understanding her and I just nodded saying "ok?".
A minute later, I wanted to make sure that didn't mean "the works". I asked her what the special pedicure was, and she told me it was a massage, and sea salts, and callus remover. I told her "no, I don't want that. I just want a pedicure". She said "ok ok, special massage is good"... again, I said "I do not want anything more than a pedicure"... "ok ok ok". She kept going on with the pedicure. She then said something I couldn't understand and left for a bit. Next thing I know she's squeezing packets of sea salt on my calf. I told her "no, I don't want this". She said "it's ok, it's good for you". At that point, she was already rubbing everything in and my only option would have been to stand up. What an awful position to be put in!
What about my girlfriend? Same as above but with "flowers" on her nails. Total bill at the end? $160!!! After arguing for a little while (in what seemed like a one way english, one way vietnamese conversation) I finally took my credit card out. "No credit cards, cash only" What??!!! What about the visa sign on the door? "Use the atm please". To the left of the door was an ATM. Amazing. Never going back!
Be prepared for pressure sales – I called ahead to find out the cost. I was quoted $20 pedicure for me, $35 for both manicure and pedicure together for my friend. I ended up paying $35 and my friend paid $95, and that's before the expected tip! From the minute you walk in the door, they rush you into a chair and pressure sell you into any add on that they can. They never tell you that it'll cost more. They just keep telling you that they'll do it nice and perfect just for you. My friend got suckered into a shoulder massage because he didn't understand what they were asking. Even after that, they continued to push other services he might be interested in just to raise the cost. I had to sternly say NO THANK YOU at least 20+ times. Definitely not a way to relax. I don't recommend this place at all.
