They made my day! I went to Salon Heavener after seeing all their great reviews and had Mike do my highlights. He referred me to his sister Connie for my wedding practice and hair extensions. Totally happy, I booked my wedding date. Connie and her team did our hair and makeup (10 in all) and we looked amazing. I would highly recommend this salon for their great vibe, ethusiasm and outstanding talent. I have great pictures to show for it. (:
Salon Heavener More Like Salon HELL-ener
Consumers Beware - this salon has the absolute worst customer service not to mention sneaky overcharges and botched hair treatments. My experiences are somewhat dated, but I am still dealing with the fallout of what I believe was an improper hair treatment. I have never written a negative review about a business prior to this, so I am obviously still very upset and hope to protect would-be customers from a salon that does not deserve your business.
Point #1: I scheduled a hair and makeup appointment for my wedding day. The salon called me over 24 hours in advance to confirm my appointment. At that time, I notified the salon that I would not be proceeding with the makeup appointment, but would proceed with my hair appointment. I previously did a trial run for makeup which turned out horrendous. The makeup was way overdone. When I arrived at the salon on Saturday morning, Connie, one of the salon owners, did my hair which turned out just OK. When I proceeded to pay, Connie told me that since I cancelled my makeup appointment she would have to charge me an extra $50 for a "cancellation fee." What? I was not informed of this fee by the person who called to confirm my appointment nor did Connie mention this to me the entire time she was working on my hair. She dropped this on me at the register when I was about to leave. I paid that fee because it was my wedding day and I didn't want to argue and make a fuss on a day that should start out well. But I ask you this: Why penalize a customer without giving them that information on the front end? It's sneaky to charge the customer such fees on the back end.
Point #2: Mark, the other salon owner, had been trying to convince me to get a keratin treatment for quite some time. He indicated I was "the perfect candidate" and I "would love it." In November 2012, I decided to have that treatment done for a cost of $250. As Mark was performing this treatment, he kept telling me I was going to love it and I should write positive YELP reviews about it and his salon. He also told me that "next time you get this treatment done, I'm going to have to charge you an extra $50 for the keratin treatment the NEXT TIME" I come in for that treatment because my hair was so long and thick that he had to use a lot of product. When I checked out at the register, the salon went ahead and charged that amount on THAT DAY. Wow. That seemed very sneaky too. At this point I realized that Salon Heavener wasn't in the customer-building business and simply wanted to treat its clients simply as ATM machines.
Point #3: The week after receiving the keratin treatment done by Mark, my hair started falling out in clumps. Clumps! Two weeks after receiving the keratin treatment, I began losing my hair BY THE ROOT and now have excessive bald spots on my head. BALD! I have had to go to doctors and receive cortisone injections on my head to hopefully stop the hair loss. Traumatizing.
To add insult to what resulted in a literal injury, I wrote the salon two emails which were by and large ignored. Mark did call me after my first correspondence, but essentially wanted to argue over the phone - it wasn't his fault, or Connie's fault or Salon Heavener's fault. It's my fault for having thick hair. Or it's my fault because I canceled an appointment.
I am so traumatized over my loss of hair and bald spots. Seven months post-keratin treatment, my once thick mane has thinned out significantly and I continue to lose massive amounts of hair by the root daily.
To be treated by a salon like this for a procedure that was clearly done improperly, is an outrage. Top that off by the fact that I was literally steamrolled out of $100 -- is an absolute wrong way to go about treating loyal clients.
Stay away from this salon!
Great Service – Great service and wonderful experience with Mark the hairdresser
My hair looks great and the mani/pedis are wonderful!!!
Best Salon – I got a cut and color and some Arrojo Product
I am a happy girl!!!!
Finally someone got it right – After reading all the great reviews I went to the salon and had Connie do my highlights. She got it right the first time and no one has been able to do that. My blonde is perfect and not brassy. It is such a relief to get what you want and I thank her for that.
Very cool baliage – I got a baliage here from Mark Heavener and I really like how sandy blonde my hair turned out with just a touch of low light color in my hair. I took home some styling creme from Bumble and it works
Be back in soon
A great salon – I have been going to the salon and Mike does a great job and is developing into a great stylist. He is personable and patient and tries to make you happy. I noticed someone gave him a poor review and immediately brought it to his attention. He was very concerned, so I told him I would write this review so other people can see that this is truly a family oriented salon that really does great hair. The person who must have written the review should have called the salon and asked for it to be fixed and Mike would have taken care of it. He is mentored by some great stylists in the salon and his pricing is fair and reasonable. Give the guy a break, he is new at his craft. The fact that this lady was in tears and would take the time to write something like this could have been resolved by just giving him a call. Keep up the good work, Mike. You are "Great"
Keratin saved my life – I received a Keratin Treament from Mark and I will say that it was the best money I have ever spent and my husband didn't mind, lol. I would spend too much time blowdrying my hair and then another half hour flat ironing it. I now get ready so fast and my hair is straight shiny and smooth. Thank you Mark. I will be sending people your way!
I love my hair – I called the salon and had a consulation with Connie
She was very nice and took the time to hear about what I wanted to do and she did a great job. It is everything I ever hoped for and my summer will be great now that I have gorgeous hair.
The staff was also very nice and offered me up a glass of wine and I received the best shampoo ever from her assistant Christine.
