The largest state park in the Lower 48 brings bighorns and rattlers to San Diego's doorstep – The Setting
Anza-Borrego's 600,000 acres, wilderness areas and miles of trails contain expanses of Colorado Desert with its washes, wildflowers, cacti and wildlife. Among its palm groves and vistas live roadrunners, golden eagles, kit foxes, mule deer, iguanas, chuckwallas, the red diamond rattler--and the Borrego, the bighorn sheep.
Borrego Palm Canyon and Tamarisk Grove campgrounds are developed and large--about half of park sites have hookups. Shower stations and a dump station are available, as well as primitive campsites. No fire rings are provided--bring cook stoves or firewood; no wood gathering is allowed. Street-legal vehicles only are allowed in the park.
