disappointed, meh... – We had a gift card here- and my expectations therefore were even lower than usual. The pros: Nice atmosphere with decent service, and good prices- also tasty warm bread. The food was just bad. St. Louisans really know Italian and there are just too many good , locally owned non-chain alternatives that have been around for decades.

#1. Crab stuffed mushrooms- The mushrooms were undercooked and still cool in the middle and hard. Also had a crab shell in them.

#2. Seafood Linguini- I asked waitress if I should get this or a Chicken Marsala dish. She said this- which she had to be just suggesting it because it was $6 more than the other dishes. The pasta was overcooked, and there was NO FLAVOR to the sauce. I don't even think there was sauce. No visible herbs, nothing- just plain tasteless pasta with some scallops, mussels, and shrimp. (In their defense, the scallops were cooked well and large- but AGAIN the seafood had no flavor or seasoning. ) I have never sent a dish back- and was really disappointed. Since we had the gift card, I ate the seafood and just left the pasta.

#3. If this place wants to compete with the awesome Italian alternatives out there (go to ANY place on the hill) throw in a salad with the meal.

Performing chefs cook up rustic, home-style Italian entrees at this buzzing family restaurant. – In Short
A boisterous, all-ages crowd of pasta lovers pack this energetic Italian spot, where chefs clad in white hats and red scarves keep diners wide-eyed by showing their moves in the busy open kitchen. The menu boasts family-sized portions of hearty traditional fare, from antipasti, chicken and pasta dishes to seafood, steak and wood-fired pizzas. Signature plates include grilled pork chops, lobster ravioli, and penne rustica with shrimp, grilled chicken and smoked prosciutto in cream sauce.

AmAzInG!!!! – I've been to The Macaroni Grill several times and have always felt extremely happy with the service and food there. I have been to the Lemay Ferry one for birthdays, dates, dinners, and lunches and have always been satisfied with it. I was at the one on Eager in Brentwood a few times for a few school dances. They both have a great atmosphere. I love the food!! It's incredible!! The noodles are cooked perfectly, and the sauces they have range from spicy to mild to sweet!! You can create your own pasta too! I highly recommend the Pasta Milano! It's definitely my favorite dish they serve! I love the atmosphere and the food there and highly recommend it to anyone for almost any occasion!

Perfect – It was busy, but we asked for first available and ended up being seated right away (but in smoking). It was a nice space with a very sweet atmosphere. I found it interesting how they juxtaposed more up-scale touches like the olive oil and freshly grated cheese with a little more fun like writing on the tables with crayons. Overall it made for a pleasant, romantic atmosphere without all of the stress of being in a more ritzy place. Although I'm sure it must vary from night to night, our service was amazing. Price-wise, it's about the same as other Italian chains (like Pasta House) but the quality and quanity was much better than what I've had elsewhere.

cramped seating, poor service – When my family and I went there for a birthday we were sat around a small table (too small for all of us) and stuck right in the middle of a busy aisle. I felt like we were packed in like sardines there...barely enough space to move your elbows, much less eat, and all of the other tabels are cramped togather too. It was busy and the service was atrocious, we only saw our waiter a few times and our drink glasses were always empty. Though the food was edible, I won't go back again...there's something lacking in chain restaurants like these.
