Very Disappointing - Not so authentic‎. The first clue to this place as not being authentic is the Chinese waitress dressed in Chinese garb. I'm of Japanese heritage. I ordered the Tempura Shrimp. They were large and so was the portion, however they were VERY OILY and bland tasting. My husband ordered the Teriyaki NY Strip. I Thought it would be grilled but it wasn't. It was served on bean sprouts with red and green peppers and onion covered in a sesame sauce. I never had food like this in Japan. The entrees were served with a very weak tasting miso soup. The salad was a typical lettuce salad with their house dressing. The house dressing was very tasty but they drowned the salad with it. I see all the previous reviews have been since 2009. This was our first time there. This place must have changed.

Horrible staff and awful owner! WASTE OF YOUR MONEY. I have been going to this place for about 4 years, and spent on average of $60 there with my boyfriend each week. There are several places in the area with better sushi than Osaka, some include UMI sushi on 23 mile and m53, or katana in Royal Oak, anyways the main reason we went there is because the wait staff is so nice and friendly, and their service makes us come back each week, despite the fact that the owner and the sushi chefs loo at you like you are their enemy every time we walk in, im not sure if they realize how much money we have spent there, and how many other people go because of us EVERY WEEK. As hard as we try to ignore the dirty looks we all get each time we walk in there, it's really frustrating and annoying to spend my hard earned money at a place that can't even smile and welcome you when you walk in. Last week we went there and they messed up our order, so when we told the waitress that it was wrong the manager made her take each of our plates back to the sushi bar and we had to wait another 30 min. for our correct order to come, the waitress was so embaressed by this and i know it was not her fault at all, so as we waited for our order to be fixed the manager and the owner lady passed by our table about 5 times and did not even say one word to us ( we spent about $200 this time, with a party of 6) we all felt like WE did something wrong. Anyways after 30 minutes our order came and we overheard the manager yell at our waitress to MAKE SURE she charges for everything correctly and to include the one side of spicy mayo for $1(which is free everywhere else we go). This place doens't care about it's customers all they care about is your money, it is very unwelcoming and a cold atmosphere and we are finally fed up of it. I feel bad for the poor wait staff that has to deal with those people on a daily basis. I don't care if i have to drive for 2 hours to have sushi i will never be returning to this place again.

best sushi in town. I have been to Osaka once a week for years. I would go work out at Lifetime and then have a healthy meal by myself at the sushi bar without ever feeling weird. The sushi chefs were very personable.

But we also go for the birthdays in our family because it is a great place to take a large group of people to as well. I have been to Kiyoto/Benihana/Shogun-- none of them compares quality-wise to Osaka. The seafood and steak is always fresher here and the sushi too. I am really surprised to see that someone got sick. Like I said I have been there a million times and never had a problem!

Other sushi places in that area pale in comparison. I hate going to sushi places and there is nothing raw on the menu, it is all just fad-sushi. You can get authentic sushi at Osaka, not just the American deep-fried stuff.

Great Dining. This is one of my favorite restaurants! You are seated at a group table and they cook your food on a flat grill in front of you. The fired rice and noodles are amazing! Everything is cooked to perfection!

She got sick!. My wife and I had dinner there last Saturday night. We have eaten there many times in the past and enjoyed it but I doubt we will go back anytime soon. My wife had the shrimp and steak combo......cooked right in front of us, and we were having a good time. She got so sick and it was terrible. Flu? no.......Food poisening? We think so!

A great night out. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant since it opened. It has a fun atmosphere and great food. We usually sit by the hibachi grill, but their sushi bar is also great too, very fresh ingredients. Their steak is so tender and their seafood is very good on the grill too. The only negative I've found is that making reservations doesn't mean you will actually get a table at that time. We've had to wait over an hour when we've gone with a group even when we had reservations, but it was still worth the wait.

Best Staff and Japanese Sushi in Michigan!. I visited Osaka on a Saturday night and found it to be the best authentic Japanese dining experience in Michigan. I've been all over the U.S. and can say this place offers great service and Japanese Sushi. Oma waited on me at the sushi bar and provided great direction as to Osaka's sushi menu options. I will keep coming back to see her. The sushi chefs are very talented. The seafood tasted very fresh and the price was reasonable. If you live in Macomb / Oakland / Wayne county, you definitely have to give this restaurant a try!

Made me sick to my stomach. My boyfriend and I went to Osaka this past sunday for lunch. The staff was really nice and the restaurant looks very nice too. The food tasted really good, however, we both got extremely sick from it. We couldn't even leave the house the rest of the day, our stomachs felt like they were tied in knots I've had food poisioning before and that is how I felt after eating this food. I will not be going back there!!!

Best Japanese resturaunt in town. PERIOD.. The service was very nice, and the food was great! I have only gone by myself. but I think it is more of a social place if you have friends. I will be going with some friends next time.

Anyways, on to the review.

The softshell crab is the best I have ever had anywhere.

The steak and chicken is great.

I never liked sushi until I went to Osaka.

Now, I LOVE IT!

If you are looking for a great night out, and a place with great food (and great prices too!) then you should check out Osaka. It is between Lakeside mall and Partridge creek mall.

Best Japenese Steakhouse. Osaka's Japanese Steakhouse is a fantastic place to dine. The cleanliness, service, food, & selections are great. The sushi is fresh--I particularly like the barbecued eel nigiri and the Spider Roll. The table grill experience is fun--the chefs are expert in preparing your food and entertaining. The filet and calamari are a favorite, but the shrimp and scallops are quite good also. the only item I do not recommend is the chicken--it is rather tasteless and not nearly as good as other selections. The only thing missing is a seaweed salad on the menu. One chef that we had was a little heavy handed with the salt, but I was informed by a friend that the same chef was better her next visit. The prices are average compared to other restaurants of this type. I highly recommend this restaurant, and please don't forget to tip the chef!
