look for the better place to do your eyebrows , don't give up to find the best eyebrow specialist – i was looking for a place to do my eyebrows, i had a big problem, i had no shape, tattoo only. when i came to exhale , to the famous eliza's eyes people, i hoped at least to have some recommendations, but i got hurt by comments about my appearance. it was horrible experience.By my lucky chance ,i found somebody else at the salon Mingle, and it happened to be that i got my eyebrows back with the help of people who care and know how to do it.
Disappointing – Exhale occupies a prime location across from Central Park. They offer an extensive menu of services and fitness classes and also have a well-stocked boutique. However, they always seem to be one step behind...too long of a line to check in or out, classes which are overbooked, poor customer service, etc. I have been going to Exhale for some time for brow waxing. I used to see a lovely, thorough, skilled woman named Julia. However, she is no longer with Exhale so last week I saw a woman named Ileana (sp?). It has been four days and I stil have bright red marks between my eye brows and lids. I think she put the wax way too low, as there is a good centimeter between my eye brows and the red archs on my face. I found her to be pushy ("you should dye your eye lashes...you need this eye pencil...what on earth happened HERE?") which I didn't appreciate. I also don't feel like she did a good job--she trimmed my brows post-waxing, leaving some hairs sticking out and others far too short. Especially given the price ($85), I do not recommend Exhale.
Another Anna recommendation – She gave a fantastic deep tissue massage. I've been sore from marathon training and pretty much kicking myself for training (well, if I _could_ kick myself) and after the massage I felt 1000% better, looser limbs, a lot less stiff, and that feeling has persisted. I've had other massage therapists and you really can tell Anna knows what she's doing. I'd recommend her to anyone. I had another massage with a guy here before, I forget the name, and it was fine. So if you can't get Anna, the other massage therapists are probably pretty good too.
It would be five stars except they could *definitely* quiet the place down a little. I dunno; soundproofing or something?
nice massage – The massage was great.
The relaxation room is a bit noisy from the exercise classes next door, but if you don't mind that,
it's a perfectly good spa to receive a good standard spa treatment without the snobbery you would find at fussier competitors.
LoriBeth is amazing! – I had an amazing massage today from LoriBeth. I get massages pretty regularly, and the experience at Exhale was great. I would totally go back.
go somewhere else – Skip this noisy, overcrowded place for somewhere else...anywhere else! Terrible massages, painful waxes and a less-than-appealing ambience. Don't even get me started on the filled-to-the-max Core Fusion classes. Even after I was injured as a direct result of the class, they would not refund me the balance I had left (I had bought a package). I have nothing but negative things to say about this place...those who have yet to encounter it--breathe a sign of relief, you've dodged a bullet!
Great massage with Anna! – I went to this establishment recently for 60 min of deep tissue massage. It was my first visit, so I did not care who was going to be my massage therapist. I had massage with Anna and can tell you it was the best I ever had so far.... Anna was very profesional and her touch was amazing.....She gave my body exactly what was needed.......Strong, deep yet very enjoyable session I ever had. Way to go Anna, I will be back and recommend all my friends!
Paul is awesome – I totally agree with the other review about the common areas: Noisy and not very comfortable. I'm a pretty urban type of guy, but there are some places where you just don't want to mingle with the opposite gender, and a spa is one of them! I want to be able to feel comfortable in my bathrobe while I unwind with a cup of tea. I don't want to have to listen to a gaggle of women discussing Brittany's latest plight. ugh.
There was also construction work going on during my visit, with workers yelling back and forth at one another about some electrical fittings.
But at the crux of my experience, there's Paul.
I've had many many massages in my life, in fact I go monthly-- but Paul is one of the best therapists I've ever had. My regular guy left New York and so I've been shopping around for someone new and just happen to stumble on this spa and thankfully found Paul.
I will be back again and again and I only hope that the spa itself gets its act together and realized they are a SPA and not a fitness center: Calm, quiet common areas are important to your clientele.
Exhale is a countrywide chain and unfortunately, they feel like one.
IF you can overlook this, Paul is worth every minute of craziness you'll need to endure in the relaxation area.
Good treatment, bad atmosphere – I went on a Monday night after work for a 30-minute facial because I had gotten a gift card. I was shocked at how loud and noisy the place was, since the relaxation room must have been next to the yoga/dance/something room. All I could hear was an instructor yelling and the thumping bass of music. Also the relaxation room was almost pitch dark, and was co-ed, so you're lounging around with strange men in bathrobes in the dark. Odd. HOWEVER, when the aestician, Claudia, took me to the facial room, it was quiet and comfortable. She kept trying to get me to upgrade to the hour-long facial and tried to sell me a bunch of products (which I'm sure the owners force all of their employees to do, so probably not entirely her fault), but she did a GREAT job on my face. I looked and felt FABULOUS. I still have enough money left on my gift card for another facial and I will definitely be going back...I just won't expect a relaxing experience. But I know I'll leave with great skin! So it's a toss-up.
Pros: Good treatment, late hours
Cons: Push for sales, not relaxing
Try Red! – I thought I had beautiful skin. For years I had been cleansing with regular soap and water, yet I had no breakouts. I thought I had lucky skin genes, but this weekend I ran into the most
thorough and informative esthetician I have ever worked with. I want to use the adjective
genius. Have I ever received a better facial? No! She extracted my skin for 20 minutes. I had no idea I was so clogged. When she had completed half of my nose, I asked her if I could compare the extracted side against the clogged side. The difference was astounding. The entire time, I felt like I was with someone that I had known for years. I read about her and wanted to try her out and I am so fortunate to have gotten her. I am even going to go back for spa week! Her product and dietary recommendations inspired me to take better care of my skin. When she completed the treatment, my skin was more beautiful than ever! Thanks Red!
