Terrible service. Ordered soup with our meal, never came. Ordered a beer, had to ask the server where it was 15 minutes later, took another 5 minutes to come out. Ordered sushi with the meal, it never came. When we asked the server (at the end of the meal----he only came by about four times total) to take the sushi off and if he could bring the bill because we were trying to make it to a movie, he was SO rude. He said he thinks he walked by our sushi and if was ready, he couldn't take it off. Now, we had already been there for an hour and 15 minutes and we were finished with our meal. Besides, if the sushi was, indeed, ready as he claimed...why didn't he bring it when he came to ask us if we needed anything AFTER we finished eating. He said he would have to check with the manager to take it off the bill. We asked to speak with the manager and he said he would get him... Then came back with the check, took the sushi off and said it wasn't ready after all, and the soup that we also ordered and never got was STILL on the bill. He said he would take it off and we asked to talk to the manager again. When the manager finally came over (we were running late for the movie at this point) he said he would buy us a round of drinks due to the terrible service. We said we were already running late and said he could give us a gift card, which I did not want! (I will never be going back--and never have had such terrible service). I had to ask him if there was anything he could do on our bill--which was 75.00. Also, John Holly's it is on the expensive side for Chinese food and is not worth it! If the food and service were wonderful, I would not haven been opposed to a $75.00 meal for Chinese food. The manager offered to take 20% off, after I had to ask. Might I also add, this is a coupon offer they send out in the mail---not something sufficient enough to change my opinion about this resturant in the slightest. If he had come back to our table and corrected the situation, taken 50% off or comped the meal entirely, I would have never written this review and probably would have given them another try. This is where poor service and a poor attitude gets you. Go to PF changs. It's right across the street same pricing, better food, better service, no sushi on the menu, but hey, we ordered it and never got it anyway!
I've been getting take out from Holly's for a few years. However, I got cramping and severe diarrhea last night. I've seen other reviews questioning their kitchen people not washing hands. I doubt I'll eat there again.
Go somewhere else – If you are bored and don't want to travel far, service and food quality is not your thing, go for it. The waiters and the owners are rude, food quality is not consistent, over priced and no afiliation to Little Ollie's, as sometimes communicated by owner.
change is better!
Got sick after eating here – My daughter ate egg drop soup which made her sick the following day. She threw everything up & had major stomach cramping the following morning.
I ate Salmon Sushi & my stomach was not feeling great either.
Service is so/so & restrooms are very dirty.
I don't think we will be going there ever again. We will stick with Sushi Den and are sorry Mukuni at Park Meadows has closed.
the greatest sushi – First off to people who go there during lunch, IT'S CROWDED people eat there and love it there. Every waiter there is nice and caring, they are humane. The first impression might be bad for you but try again and maybe you will fall in love with it. The first time i went there it took hours to get seated and get food but it was crowded. so we waited and i enjoyed the food. so please give it another try someday
Extremely bad service at lunch time – My daughter was done with her doctors appointment and I wanted to take her for lunch before dropping her off at her school. She loves Chinese food so I took her to John Hollys. We were seated at 12.00 pm. It was 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. I ordered 4 entrees - 2 for my daughter and myself to eat there and two to go. We got our soup at 12.30pm. And then it was 1pm and we still dit not get our entrees and my daughter was starving. We were seated in the side room and so the waiter Kim who was assigned to our table did not even bother to check in on us. After waiting 1hr and 15 minutes at lunch time and still no sign of our entrees and Kim would completely avoid me even when I was trying to signal her to get her attention. I finally asked another waiter to look up our order and to get all of it to get it to go. And wonder of wonders, the togo orders did not even have the spring rolls or soup. My daughter had to eat her food in the car while I was driving.
I cannot afford to wait 1 hr 15 minutes waiting at a table for my food to show up. I will never ever go to this place for lunch again and will tell my colleagues to avoid this place for lunch as well.
Yum! – My favorite! The honey crispy shrimp is so amazing I can't order anything else. I have tried lots of items on the lunch menu and have not been disappointed. Restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. The owner is very nice and not at all alien like.
Wonderful Food – It's a shame these reviews are not monitored better. My experiences with John Holly's have always been GOOD ones. Whether it's lunch with co-workers or dinner on Friday nights, I've never gotten a bad dish or service. Lunch specials are a bargain. Large plates of food for the price and far better than average Lo Mein and Fried Rice. The sushi is good, smaller rolls, but always prepared well. Dinners are quality and even on a crowded Friday night keeping a table for 2 hours was not a problem. We take our time, never feel rushed, go through multiple courses, run up a bar tab while the staff is polite & patient. Try the Orange peel beef & Teriyaki chicken you won't be disappointed.
Great Food - Poor Service – My family and I visited John Holly's for the first time tonight. We were seated in a side room. There is no ambiance in the side room. At first the temperature appeared fine, but as the night went on, the cold from the walls crept into your bones.
We informed our waitress that we were new to Sushi.. She provided a quick overview. As soon as she left, the girl serving water jumped in and answered most of our questions. This happened twice in the evening. Perhaps they should swap places!!!
The food was very very good. We had an Edamame appetizer. For the main course, we had a Mango Roll and a California Roll. We loved all of the food.
Upon leaving, we mentioned to the hostess, the coldness of the room. She really didnt care!

Our FAVORITE restaurant!!!! – John Holly's is mine and my boyfriends absolute favorite restaurant. I seriously mistrust the validity of other poor reviews as we have never received anything but great service and delicious food, perfectly seasoned and prepared beautifully. Everything is so fresh and delicious!!! John Holly's has some of the best chefs out there. We know that any time we go we can pick anything on the menu and and it will be delicious. Not only is the food fantastic, but the prices are very reasonable. And the portions are HUGE, making the value even better. Every time we eat there, we leave with leftovers from each dish which often leaves us with 1 or 2 more meals. They also have a very good wine selection. We have never done delivery or take out with John Holly's so I can't comment on the portions with that service. We we always highly recommend John Holly's and continue to be satisfied customers. We're actually taking some friends and family there tonight! We love you John Holly's!!!
