Linton Hopkins, the owlish and professorial chef at this superb restaurant, doesn't look like a commanding presence -- but his vision is so powerful and his authority over his cooks so absolute, that the amazing food here seems like the expression of a single mind. Which it is.
One of the best restaurants in Atlanta; smart, fun and creative. The small bar in the back is amazing and there's a small lounge were you can sip on creative cocktails made with rare liquors and house made mixers...anywhere that makes their own ginger ale is OK by me!
this place is a treat – Restaurant Eugene was a treat all around. The food is phenomenal (and I tried over half of the items on the menu.) Some of the portions were small for the price, but well worth it! The modest space makes for a very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The decor is very simple but elegant. This place would make a great date spot, as it is quiet. The server was very knowledgeable of both the food and wine. I will surely return.

Surveying the cozy, opulent dining room, it's easy to see that husband-and-wife team Gina and Linton Hopkins have sunk their hearts (not to mention pocketbooks) into this Peachtree restaurant. Plush banquettes offer intimate seating, gauzy curtains swathe floor-to-ceiling windows, and fresh flowers spill from wall-mounted vases. The New American menu, though elegant, doesn't intimidate: Pan-seared foie gras shares space with grilled chicken and stone-ground grits.
Total dining experience – On the road for business, it can be awkward enjoying fine dining alone. Not so with the kitchen and waitstaff at this very impressive location. The physical layout and personable staff (including chef himself) and loyal regulars make Restaurant Eugene feel very family-oriented. The food was clearly prepared from the freshest of ingredients and the most creative culinary talent. Although presented in a friendly and non-pretentious manner, make no mistake that Restaurant Eugene is fine dining and priced accordingly. That said, I would still pay twice the going rate for those B.L.T. scallops! I would recommend ordering a tasting menu - have chef Hopkins prepare your own personal Iron Chef style sampling of his (and his staff's) talent!
Slice of Heaven! – As stated previously, who knew that such a wonderful scene could exist right off of Peachtree Street. From the valet to the waiter everyone was very polite. Quite, intimate, and romantic, are a fiew choice words I have for this place. After my girlfriend and I finished dinner we were very happy and relaxed. The waiter, Marty, was very knowlegable and polite. The head chef was chosen over many other top chefs, in the Atlanta area, to compete on the Iron Chef television show, and boy does it show. The ribeye was crisp and char-grilled on the oustide while being medium-rare on the inside, very juicy and full of flavor. The potatoes and baby spinach that accomapanied the dish were equally amazing. My girlfriend's veal was cooked to perfection. The place was neither crowded nor loud. Do not come casually dressed. The desserts were exceptional, the toffee pudding is recommended. If anyone leaves this place not impressed please let me know because I had a wonderful time. Realize also that Americans have become used to receiving all of their food at once. Take your time and dine at this restaurant!
Small, Intimate & Just New American Cuisine! FineClassy Bar! – Being a resident of Buckhead, with so many big fancy chains, see & be seen scenes,this is a great find and break. Located on the bottom of the Aramore, near Peactree Battle, Restaurant Eugene, is the perfect convienent, getaway. Small, intimate, with just the right touch of class. The cozy bar is the perfect place to start. All the old standard coctails, are served with a New American touch. And owner/chef, Linton Hopkins and his charming wife, deliver New American(Hip Southern) cuisine. The menu changes weekly, depending on what Hopkins, finds at the market. You will not go wrong, especially on Sunday nights, with the pre-fixed 29.00 menu. Sunday nights, we just sit in the bar area, and dine. Wonderful versions of classic martini's and cocktails, try one you've never had. Service is excellent, the food preparations are creative, and we can relax, from the previous nights of high-profile dining. What a way to finish the weekend, and start the week. Five stars, all the way.
Incredible Food, Great Attitude – Finally a restaurant in ATL that has both excellent food and a laid back (but professional) attitude. The dining room is elegant but also warm and friendly. The servers really seem to enjoy their job and are knowledgeable about the food.
On the night we went, spring pea puree soup and sable fish wrapped in prosciutto were spectacular. The menu changes with the seasons, so just order what looks good, you'll be very satisfied. The wine list is very impressive, especially the 1/2 bottle selection.
This is definitely one of the top 3 restaurants in ATL.
Exceptional – This restaurant exceeded all of my expectations. The veal ravioli was superb and every dessert our table tried was fantastic. The half bottle wine selection suited all of our groups needs. I am glad to see a restaurant open in Atlanta that is not part of the sushi/tapas/martini movement but has actually brought grace and civility back to the city. Hats off to a wonderful restaurant.
What A Find! – Transplants from San Francisco, my wife and I are used to exceptional dining. After some very good experiences elsewhere, we agree: Restaurant Eugene is our top-notch choice in this city! Stunning decor, inventive food using quality ingredients and service that blew us away. Unbelievable wine list. When I questioned our server about wine, I got knowledgeable and intelligent responses to all of my questions. Great Pinot selection. We're hurrying back.
Beautiful – decor, but too pricey for quality of food. I paid $29.00 for four small scallops. The fois gras was excellent, my soup was tepid, food was good enough, but nothing exceptional. Very small and romantic, waiter sucked up to my boyfriend all night thinking he was picking up the check. WRONG. Oh, the music was fabulous - old jazz classics.
Understated Elegance – One of the most elegant, civilized places to dine in Atlanta. The service is gracious and unobtrusive, the New American cuisine refined, the wine list interesting, and the candle-lit room intimate to say the least. In short, it is one of the most romantic and sophisticated restaurants in the city.
