Awesome Massage – I am so lucky to have been introduced to Earth & Sky Oasis. I received a gift certificate for a massage and made an appointment with Kate. What a great gift and what a great way to relax. Kate was awesome. I have not experienced a massage this great in a long long time. I have gone back several more times since then and the quality of the massage has been consistent every time. I work just blocks from here and this is a nice get away from the busy city life. Every time I step into Earth & Sky I'm asking myself why I have not come back sooner.
Great acupuncturist! – I wholeheartedly recommend the acupuncturist, Anna Hsieh Gold! Thanks to her knowledge of acupuncture, as well as her warm and calm presence, I was able to have a non-medicated delivery.
I first went to see Anna a week before my due date as acupuncture had been recommended by my doula as a way to get my body ready for birth. It was my first time getting an acupuncture treatment and Anna made sure I was very comfortable (which was no easy task as I was so huge!) During the treatment she explained very clearly what she was doing and why, and again went out of her way to make sure I was in a comfortable position. Immediately after the treatment, I felt very relaxed and calm, and that following night I slept super well and woke up with a lot more of energy than the previous days, which at 39 week pregnant felt really, really good. A week and a half later my labor started. After more than 24 hours of contractions and slow progress, I started to get discouraged and wondered if I would ever give birth! Anna came to my house, this time for a treatment that would help my labor to speed up a bit. Two hours later I was on my way to the hospital with intense contractions and finally felt things were progressing. My healthy baby girl was born 6 hours after seeing Anna. I am completely convinced by the effectiveness of acupuncture (hmmm, yes, I had some doubts before I tried it) and now recommend it to everyone as a way to cure whatever ailment they might have!
Anna Hsieh Gold: Great knowledge and suggestion for a breech pregnancy. Thanks! – My wife is currently pregnant with our 2nd child (32 weeks and counting) and the baby was breech - feet down (actually butt down, but was feet down for a while). Our doctor told us that he would monitor the situation, but if the baby didn't turn by 36 weeks, he recommended that my wife go into the hospital for the baby to be turned manually, which is pretty uncomfortable from what he described. He also warned that if that didn't work, he couldn't do it again and at that point we would have to have a Cesarean. Both options didn't sound appealing so we came to Anna Hsieh Gold, and she recommended Moxibustion (sp?) - applying heat to the little toes by using a kind of pressed-coal herbal stick - for a specific time for 10 days.
I was skeptical, because we tried every other alternative we could find on the internet and by word of mouth with no success, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try this. Amazingly, after 5 days of the Moxibustion treatment, the baby has now righted herself and is head down in the launch position.
This has not only helped to put the baby in the correct position, but it has relieved a lot of stress and anxiety over how the delivery would play out. Thanks Anna!
Healing Acupuncture – I am very happy to write this review for Anna as she helped me through a prolonged illness..all the way through to regaining my health at long last..Anna is a talented, compassionate, sage beyond her years, acupuncture professional. She has mastered the field of acupuncture has a sense of intuition as to how to proceed...Anna is also a Ashtanga Practioner and teacher and perhaps it is this that is at the root of her spirituality and emotional maturity...
Love your new acupuncturist! – Anna is a wonderful and very accomplished practitioner of acupuncture (and her technique means you hardly feel the needles!). I first began seeing Anna after a series of stressful events in my life left my adrenals fried. Anna restored my energy and balanced my emotions in about 12 sessions...I felt so much better that I actually began to crave the tonics and bitter herbs she prescribed. If you've never been cupped (don't mind that bit of fire), you have no idea what you're missing! Anna also does this very cool thing where she uses a needle to coax tight shoulder muscles into complete surrender...absolute bliss! It was a huge loss for all of us in LA when Anna moved up north...take advantage of your good fortune to have such a healer in San Francisco!
Best Massage in SF! – These people can fix what ails you! If you are looking for the best massage in SF, go see Ari Cella at Earth and Sky. Ari talks with you about where you're hurting and then creates a strategy for each massage. He has helped me heal a chronic hip tendon problem I sustained from running and has been hugely helpful with a stubborn rotator cuff/elbow/and thumb injury I got from throwing my "Chuck It" dog hurler too much. It hurt like a mo-you-know-what, but Ari has gotten it to wane. He also does Raki, which if you've never tried, you should. It made me a believer in the whole "energy" thing. wow. You will feel much better, but trust me, book 90 minutes or you will be kicking yourself.
Eri is GREAT! – OK, this is my second review so bear with me but I found this little place on Citysearch and I need to rave. I booked a 60 minute massage with Eri and he was great. Usually I would be nervous about having a man give me a massage but I decided to try it and I'm glad I did although I wish I had booked a 90 minute. First I filled out a comprehensive intake form and then he actually read it. (I've been places where that was not the case.)He then asked me for more clarification about my areas of tension and told me if I need lighter or deeper pressure to please let him know (again, not something I've been told at other spas). And then he gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. You know when you're pretty much out of it but you're not asleep? That was me. He was totally professional, gave me good feedback on what he found without making me feel like I was a wreck and I rebooked - it was just what I needed.
Best Couples Massage Anywhere – My husbacnd and I have been really stressed out and when someone recommended a couples massage, my husband said no way. I was able to talk him into it, and he is SO GLAD I did! It was the best experience for both of us as a couple and individually. The spa is perfectly located right downtown, so it was super easy to get to, and its such a great spa. Incredibly inviting, professional and relaxing. Earth and Sky has both male and female massage therapists who independantly worked with each of us before the massge to see what our individual needs were. The room was heavenly. Spacious, candle lit, quiet and cozy. The tables were plush, warm and inviting. I have carpal tunnel, so my massage concentrated on more deep tissue on my arms, neck and upper back. While my husband has lower back pain from driving too much. While working on our individual needs, it was an incredibly thorough massage, the therapist worked on my full body. After the massage, unlike MANY places I've had work done, they told us where they felt tightness, how we could alleviate it and gave us pointers/suggestions for the future. They didn't try to sell us anything, they were sincerely looking out for our best interest which is hard to find these days. They also told us to drink a lot of water, I never knew that you should do that after a massage! We were incredibly relaxed after and went across the street to E&O Trading Co. for a fantastic lunch and talked about why our massuse(sp?) was better than the others. It was awesome. Can't wait to do it again. And it was incredibly reasonably priced. Highly recommend Earth and Sky!
Best prenatal massage!!! – I have been having lower back pain from my pregnancy and looked into several places that offers prenatal massages this is the best! First the day spa was very serene and relaxing when you walked in and Kate was there to greet me in person! Then I got a great massage and very personal care from Kate!!! Since this is my first pregnancy so everything is new to me and Kate shared many tips about easing aches and pain while focusing on the areas that needed work! I left with lots of new info and would definitely go back! Also, this place is not pushy at all regarding booking another appointment asap!
