don't know where those parties did... – I have had not one, but two parties here and as with any place in NYC, if you plan ahead of time the staff and the manager will work with you. I don't know what planning was involved with the other two parties. But mine were well planned, the staff not only was accommodating but went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed (which was no small feat including catering and set up.) The bar staff was efficient and pleasant. I will do business here again and again...

How NOT to run a bar... – Recently we hosted an after-work happy hour for a friend's birthday. NOW, I want you to imagine, fellow party planners, that you are hosting a party for 45 people, have a question, and ask to speak to the manager. What would you expect to happen? 99% of the time a friendly manager pops out to see if your group is doing OK. Well, folks, Gstaad is in that 1% of New York establishments who simply don't care enough to do that!

NEVER in my life have I witnessed this. I'm honestly still amazed by it! The bartender handed out a business card and asked us to call the manager, who was in the office a few feet away. Over the phone, she refused to come out.

Come ON--it's perfectly acceptable to set policies for group events, but what is UNACCEPTABLE is to refuse to communicate with your customers during an event! If you're looking for a place to host an event, I'd urge you to move past Gstaad and on to one of the many other similar locations with a more customer-focused management.

worst service ever – I foolishly planned a work after party at Gstaad and will NEVER return. the staff was completely unaccomadating and rude. The manager wouldn't even come out of her office to speak to me, rather I had to call her from my cell phone when she's 10 feet away as she's too busy with paperwork to come out of her office to talk to a customer. we were 30 people! half the bar at that time. i guess they don't need the business and won't be seeing any of my $ in the future. i've been treated poorly at venues before but this was outrageous.

Purty But Crowded – Its very nice in here in terms of decor, but the crowded ambiance needs to be addressed as its hardly a lounge as it is a big group of body heat. The bartenders are generous with their drinks and they seem to be reasonably priced.

Push and Shove – If you like it when push comes to shove, you'd love this place. Luckily, I showed up early to a small party that had the back room reserved. The "cabin" as it's called, features many comfortable couches. I was surprised that the room wasn't stuffy and it wasn't scorching hot. It was actually quite comfortable. But this is when it gets bad. I couldn't even get to the bar after 11pm. The main artery of the bar was so congested that I almost had to deck 2 separate gentlemen for knocking over girls. Next, I will talk about the bouncers. Why are they there? Seems like all they like to do is flash their flashlights up and down and ask people to move then they have finally found a comfortable spot to stand (and that is hard to do here at Gstaad). Since I couldn't get a drink for the last 2 hours I was there, I began to notice how worthless this place is. I saw a small group of people just leaning against the wall, having a good time, talking. All of a sudden a bouncer walks up and asks them to move (with the flashlight) of course. Even though they were tucked all the way against the wall, not blocking anything or anyone. What really happened is that the bouncer just told them to move away from the wall, so that they could be in the center of the aisle. This actually blocked more traffic. The best place to hang out here is by the bathrooms. There is actually room to breathe here, and you might be able to have a conversation. I did enjoy the bathroom layout... Probably the best I've seen in a while. Three unisex bathrooms with no lines at all! I never had to go to the bathroom since I couldn't get a drink.

crowded, but fun – Friendly bartenders, strong drinks at good prices. The crowd was fun, though maybe a bit too large for the space. They have a cute party room that is free to reserve for parties, which is why we were there.

gstaay away! – i think the people who are writing these reviews must be the people who work here or something. the crowd is not cool or beautiful and the seating is not comfortable -- talk about trying too hard... it's like a big empty room with some logs thrown around here and there. it's never crowded for a reason -- namely, no one wants to go there. i would gstaay away from it if i were you.

Breath of Fresh Air – I don't know if it's the creative seasonal drinks or the overwhelming amount of space but Gstaad is always a good time. The bartenders are really talented and incredibly friendly. The DJs keep the mood interesting with current hits and some more obscure beats that make you wonder who it is. The space never makes you feel crowded like so many lounges in NYC do. The high ceilings and sleek decor make the experience comfortable and picture-worthy. I make my way to Gstaad at least once a month. The attractive people, the awesome surf/ski videos, and some of the coolest bathrooms in the city make Gstaad my favorite bar. By the way, the quality of the drinks either match or far surpass those of much more expensive locations...

Hot and S@xy – Sleekly designed, with an awesome vibe. I had a birthday at Gstaad, and had an amazing time. The space is super stylie cool, with excellent music. The private room in back is comfy and chic at the same time. It's like a private living room with music and drinks. S@xy bartenders that can actually make a good cocktail are a welcome suprise. Even the bathrooms are cool. Gstaad is bangin on the weekends, and still a great place to go after work during the week when it's not as crazy. No food, but that's why they make restaurants. Gstaad doesn't seem to take itself too seriously and subsequently the staff is always friendly and helpful. Low on the snooty scale. Highly reccomended.

check it out – Great spot...never too crowded. Alot of bar space, seating, and 4 bathrooms so there is never a line anywhere. I threw a party there for about 90 people and everyone loved it. Most of them had never been there but now go just for a change of pace. Beautiful use of space.
