best nuevo latino – Awesome. Everything we had was great. Try the carne asada and mojito or prickly pear margarita. What a great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great experience
terrible food, not worth the price – This place has a nice atmosphere and pretty good service. However, I personally go to restaurant for the food. This food was really heavy and just not very good. The calamari was simply uneatable and we sent it back. I have never sent food back before. I will not go back.
Inconsistent – I have been to Mirasol a couple of times, and I found my experiences to be vastly different. The first time we went, we had great service. The food was good, although a bit overpriced, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The next time I visited, however, was a horroible experience. We were at the restaurant for almost 3 hours before all of our food was served, our waiter very rarely checked on us or filled drinks, and we left still feeling hungry. Even though my first time was great, this last experience will keep me from going back.
Hit or Miss - stick with the seafood – Atmosphere, decor and crowd were very fun. The seafood (CEVICHE epecially) was excellent. However, the EMPANADAS DE CANGREJO were honestly about as good as hot pockets and the QUESO FUNDIDO was pretty bad as well.
Okay – I recently went to Mirasol with my boyfriend after hearing so many rave reviews about it. We really liked the atmosphere and had an extremely tentative and prompt waiter. The sangria was especially good! The only bad thing is that we order a Colombian dish that my boyfriend, who is Colombian, said was nothing like the dish he was used to eating in his native country. It was still really good though! The food was a little pricey, but about what I expected for a tappas restuarant.
Fresh, vibrant space offers a virtual mini vacation with tasty mojitos, ceviche and energetic Latin music. – In Short
Mirasol should be crowned St. Louis' best first-date spot. From its funky-chic island decor and piped-in Latin sounds to a festive drink menu offering old-school Latin classics like the Brazilian caipirinha, it exudes an air of sexy frivolity. The dining room's nooks and crannies accommodate both intimate encounters and larger gatherings; the cozy bar is well-suited for canoodling. Tasty small plates range from avocado flan to ceviche (fresh fish cooked with the acid of citrus fruit).
Skip the Jam and Grab some Tappas – Skip the jam at the Pageant, and swing on by Mirasol. The food is as ecclectic as the people in the Loop. The fantastic waitresses who are as beautiful as they are knowledgable about the menu, offer up daily selections to please your palate. Bring a date or a group of people, this is one place you wanna skip that concert at the Pageant for and just stay for the desert!
