Worst restaurant ever!!!!!!!!!! – If you want terrible, and I mean truely horrendous service go here, else don't even THINK about it!!!!
It was SLOW, RUDE!!!!!!!, Food was marginal at best.
3 of my co-workers and I went there tonight.....
My friend ordered the spinach salad and said "no bacon please"....Waiter brought the spinach salad without the key ingredient of goat cheese. She politely asked him for the goat cheese, and Waiter said "uh, I thought you didn't want goat cheese." She said, "no, I wanted cheese, just no bacon."...Waiter said, "Uhhhh, well the kitchen is out of tons of stuff, soooo, I don't think we have goat cheese....". She said, "if you can please check that would be great". HE NEVER CAME BACK for over 30 minutes. She went into the restaurant and he rudely gave her some cheese, without any apology.
We also had each ordered a glass of wine (one the menu at $10 a glass). When the bill came, he had charged us $14 a glass. We politely asked if he could check, which of course he never did or came back to inform us. Upon leaving we checked the menu, and indeed it was $10. The guy rudely fixed our checks and said "well...I can't help if the computer is messed up"...We were like, we understand, but we noticed and asked you to check which he didnt.
ALL of the wait staff we encountered were SO rude, and seemed truely idiotic or must be on some sort of substance............
NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!
Never Go Here! – Service and Attitude From Hell
We could not get a sidewalk table anywhere in the Central West End as it was a beautiful evening but for some reason every table was available inside the fenced area at Liluma so we decided to check it out. From the moment we met the hostess until the moment we could get the check for 2 drinks we ordered, we were treated more rudely than we ever had been at any establishment. Everyone we spoke to had a terrible, snotty, arrogant attitude and the menu was horrible. I've had people tell you certain items on the menu were not available but never had anyone tell me which ingredients were not coming with a dish as listed as the ingredients weren't available! There appeared to be no adult supervision here at all, certainly no one who had the least idea of how to run a service oriented business.
I will never go back here again and I will tell everyone I know not to waste their time or money as it truly was the worst 20 minutes of our dining experience lives. It was no mystery after spending ven 2 minutes at this horribly managed business why the rest of the CWE was booming but literally no one was at Liluma. I wish I had been let in on the secret as we actually left the place offended.
Maybe the best ever – Liluma is the whole package - great ambience, great food, incredible staff. Even the busboys are foodies and wine lovers. On a par with the finest restaurants I've enjoyed in NYC, New Orleans, Chicago, or anywhere else. I love Liluma!
FWIW, I'm sure the burger is good, but how someone can order a burger with the menu Liluma offers is beyond me. In particular, the tuna carpaccio and seared tuna are out of this world. Great wine list as well.
Best Burger and Fries – Friends and family alike would be hard pressed to challenge our expertise where St. Louis burgers are concerned. As 40-year St. Louis natives we have eaten burgers in many local establishments/many times over/with too many disappointments........... The burgers and fries at Liluma are by far the best in town. Forget about the old standards that show up repeatedly year after year in the RFT and the like..................this is sure to be the future favorite.
St. Louis Original – Best Burger in Town, Best Fries in town. I could stop there and it would be enough to warrant a visit. You can eat simply or dining with movie stars (I saw a table of 4). The food is simple and great, I have eaten just a sandwich and I have eaten a four course tasting menu both are great. Try the pastas, maybe the most original combos in town. Good wine list to boot.
Hip Euro sidewalk bistro completes the popular Euclid/Maryland corner with upscale Italian and French fare. – The Scene
With its prime location and vast street-front patio, Liluma attracts well-dressed suburbanites and young jet-setters who dine on house-made pastas and steak frites. The subtly hued, fish-bowl interior with huge plate glass windows consists of two small dining rooms and a miniscule bar; the space is tight, the waitstaff harried.
Liluma's menu, which ranges from braised Arkansas rabbit to grilled pork tenderloin with Swiss chard and sunchokes, is so complex that nothing really jumps out. Some items are pleasingly palatable: Perfectly crispy crab cakes offer tons of tasty, fresh lump crab meat; pastas like the farfalle with spring peas and prosciutto are true to their rich Italian roots. Some staples are less than inspired (lackluster vegetable spring rolls; lonely pan-roasted tilapia served on a scoop of watery spinach), but the warm chocolate torte dessert is worth every calorie.
