I enjoyed this restaurant very much! – I like great Japanese food, and this is the place to go for sushi!
Favorite Sushi in the city – Excellent option for everyone. A little out of the way but well worth it. Love the tuna options. Great edamame and wasabi and sushi and cucumbers and everything.
Great sushi in SF – the sushi here is probably one of the best in SF for this price. Great atmosphere but it's in a very small place. Definitely worth checking out!
bigger ..not better – Not sure what the buzz is about. I am a food professional and eat in amazing sushi spots across the US and beyond (Tsukiji market is fish heaven) Sushi Bistro is comfortable and likeable but the fish was not. HUGE portions of poor quality sashimi is not what good sushi should be. The tuna was dyed. The rolls on the menu read well but the execution was not there...soggy and not balanced. Too bad because we wanted to really like SB. Prices are good and the service was friendly but that does not matter if the fish is not good....there is so much better bait in SF.
Great local sushi – Lots of energy, always busy, always fast. It's a great mix of local people and is a popular scene with the USF crowd. We get take out every week or two and are always pleased with the quality. They have a lot of unique rolls that are worth trying.
Traditional Japanese fare gets an inventive spin at an Inner Richmond eatery. – This intimate restaurant offers a relaxed yet polished atmosphere for approachable Japanese cuisine. Casually dressed diners start with small plates like tempura-battered vegetables and miso-glazed sea bass before digging into a variety of larger combination dishes, such as salmon teriyaki with tempura veggies and a house salad with sushi or sashimi. Specialty rolls include the African Spider with Cajun-flavored albacore, salmon, soft-shell crab, tobiko, sprouts, unagi and avocado.
Awesome Sushi! – This is my favorite sushi place in SF. It can be hard to get a table some nights, but it is always worth it. My favorite is the Spicy Girl Tuna appetizer made with white tuna and macadamia sauce. The "spring" lettuce wrap is another fav. The fish has always been super fresh and perfectly prepared in my experience.
Not good nigiris at all. Fish untasty and inflated with water – I do not agree with the good reviews here. We went there based on very good reviews here and on some other sites. We ordered 10 Nigiris each (combo), and one time 6 nigiries and 8 Californian rolls to be shared.
The rolls were good, wherever they were not like any other Californian Rolls we've eaten anywhere else. No nori. They were made of rice and sesame, with crab in the middle.
The Nigiris were awful. Steaks of fish over some grains of rice. The pieces of fish were far too big. An important component of good nigiris is rice. The rice here was not very tasty and almost absent.
About the fish... It seemed full of water. Like if it had been
inflated with water. It was fresh, but not tasty, and it was even farinaceous. A weird texture I never experienced eating sushis around the world. Maybe having big pieces of GOOD fish would have been great, but in that condition, I didn't enjoyed it at all.
Service was ok. We were sit at the bar. The sushis men were working very hard. The place was crowded.
unbelievable sushi!!! – Went to San Francisco for vacation in February 2008. My husband and I did our research to find a great sushi place, and decided on Sushi Bistro. We loved it so much that we went back two nights later, when we had all of San Francisco's fine eatieries to choose from! We dreamt of "Hot Love" after our first experience, an appetizer that is a MUST TRY! We have eaten sushi in AZ, other parts of CA, FL, NC, Brazil, Hawaii, and Sushi Bistro ranks up there among the best for us!
