Great Selection and Quality – Went to Jenny Yoo this past weekend with 3 of my 6 bridesmaids at their NYC location. I was skeptical at first with mixed reviews on various sites, but upon arriving at their salon, I was pleasantly suprised to find a huge selection of bridesmaid dresses and colors to choose from. I had visited a few other salons that day and I have to say that I had overall the best experience out of the 4 salons. Their staff was extremely helpful and offered many suggestions. We were greeted by a lovely woman at the front door who checked us in and introduced us to our sales consultant that would be helping us. It was a little chaotic with other appointments going on , but organized and controlled. Our sales consultant provided us with a folder at the end of our appointment with detailed list of all the dresses we liked along with pricing and fabric swatches. The only negative I have to add is that we left not being able to narrow down to our favorite choices. There were too many great options, it left us confused. I guess that is a good problem to have. Anyway, I highly recommend Jenny Yoo Collection based on my personal experience.
Disappointing – Well, the dresses are beautiful and the staff was nice enough, which is the only reason that I'm giving a 2-star review instead of 1-star. Bridesmaid dresses cost $300-$350 on average (which is pricey, in my opinion) and bridal gowns cost $800-$900 (which is reasonable, in my opinion).
I am a bride to be, and went to the Jenny Yoo showroom to look for my wedding gown.
The wedding gowns are the same as the bridesmaid's gowns, just in white. The dress that I fell in love with is $375 for a color and $825 in white. From what I could tell, there was no discernible difference besides the color, nothing to explain the $450 price increase.
When I inquired about the price increase, I got this response:
"Our bridal dresses are made on a separate individual line than our bridesmaid dresses. Our bridal collection requires an additional layer to the dress to ensure that you can not see through the fabric. Chiffon especially being a lighter fabric requires the additional layer to the dress. The Bridesmaid version of the dress we do not do in a white. The Bridal dress is priced higher due to the extra labor and construction involved."
So, basically, that extra layer costs $450, when the ENTIRE DRESS in another color costs $375? I could stomach a $100 increase for an extra layer, but that's it.
Sorry, Jenny Yoo, but I call BS, and I won't be purchasing my dress from you. It just sounds like another example of ripping someone off because they're getting married.
(And just to clarify, it's not that $825 is out of my budget. I'm more bothered by the principle of the whole thing)
HORRIBLE Customer Service – There is one tiny line on Jenny Yoo's site that says, "appointment only." After having trekked all the way to the store with my mom, we were turned away very rudely and told it was appointment only although there was only ONE other customer in the store. When asked what my wedding date was, which mind you is over 3 months away, I was told any dress would be a rush order with an extra charge. Then I was told the material I was interested in, chiffon, would not even be available for a rush order. Come on people, a man can get a suit tailor made in one week, but I can't get ONE dress within a 3.5 month turnaround? I am not even looking for bridesmaid dresses, just ONE dress! Disgusting. Won't be attending my appointment.
Amazing FIT! – I wore Jenny Yoo dresses in two weddings and just ordered my 10 bridesmaid (yes 10!) dresses from Jenny Yoo too! The showroom is so beautiful and I've always had an enjoyable experience with them. They have such great dresses that really flatter every girls body. I let my girls choose their style in the same color shangtung. Everyone looked a little different but it was still cohesive and looked so great! Two of my bridesmaids are now getting their dresses there and I just sent a colleague there yesterday! Thank you so much Jenny Yoo!!!!!
Horrible customer service – My wife bought a bridesmaid dress from this store. They screwed up her measurements and instead of sending her a size 14, they sent her a size 20. The dress is ridiculously large. Their policy is no refunds or exchanges even though it was their error. Her options were to either buy a new dress or have the one she got altered and basically make a new dress. Stay away from this place.
amazing dress selection – I have been hunting for a bridesmaid dress near my office and came across this listing on Citysearch. I made an appointment for last week and thank goodness i did. they have a huge selection of dresses in all different colors and styles. The dresses are awesome and not even that expensive. Totally within budget. While they didn't do any on site tailoring...I was a perfect size 6 fit so all i needed was hemming done and it is much cheaper anyway to take it to your own tailor. Jenny Yoo is a great shop and i totally recommend this as a stop on the bridesmaid circuit for weddings this spring and summer.
