This eco-friendly vegetarian, vegan and raw food restaurant, nestled under a large office building, feels like an odd find near business-focused K Street. To further its mission, it uses biodegradable straws, serving ware and carry-out containers and purchases fair-trade items. The fusion menu includes a wide selection of soy-based, imitation meat products such as boolgogi (with soy beef), popcorn chicken (with soy chicken) or spicy tofu. The cafe also provides lots of wheat- and gluten-free options. That large metal container sitting in the corner is a dehydrator, readying items for the raw food menu, including the popular raw pizza.
Awesome coffee shop/juice bar. So when I want to eat like/with my vegan or vegetarian pals and we come to java Green I always get the Grilled Tofu sandwich on ciabatta bread which is $8.50. It's topped with mushrooms, soy cheese, soy mayo, lettuce, tomato and a nice spicy sauce. Because I find it to be so pricey, I don't go as often as I liked. I loved this sandwich! The other thing I liked is the Very Berry Salad with Mozzarella and I have them add tofu but that comes out to $10 and tome well worth the extra buck and a half (I am a huuuge mozzarella fan). Lastly, if you happen to be in the mood for sweets (I always am) their cakes are delivered from another bakery and are to die for! All vegan and all delicious! My favorite is the orangecicle cake. Soooo good!
