Male-centric hair salon franchise scores with a sports theme. – In Short
By focusing exclusively on haircutting services for men and boys, this Texas-based national chain appeals to male sports fans who appreciate the absence of beauty salon trappings. The athletic motif is set in the lobby, which is outfitted with sports memorabilia and a big-screen TV tuned to the game. Clients choose their own programming from personal televisions while stylists administer the salon's no-fuss treatments, which also include neck and shoulder massage and skin-care services.
Do not visit, avoid at all costs. – On my first visit the haircut for my son was awful, the worst he has had in his 10 years. Morgan, my stylist, did an adequate job but had the worst attitude of any stylist I have ever visited. She clearly was not enjoying her job. My four boys and I returned on 1/20/2008 to watch the AFC championship game while getting a haircut. The rudeness of the staff was beyond belief. They were not playing sports but playing a bikini show with dancers trying out to become cheerleaders. Not that I minded, but three of my children are under 7 and this was not appropriate for them. The game had just started and we asked them to turn the TV. The first stylist I asked (first stall on the left) simply said no. When I asked her why she said that was not her job and we would have to wait for the receptionist. When I asked when the receptionist would return she said she had no idea. Morgan came up from the back stall and I asked her to please change it. She said no. She said it was on a sports channel (cheerleading tryout) and she would not change it. I let her know I did not want my sons watching the bikini show so we left. On our way out the door in the most sarcastic voice possible Morgan sang, ?have a nice day?. We will never return. Morgan was incredibly rude on both visits.
UPDATED 4/2008 - Great Job, most of the time – The MVP service is usually worth the extra money. Get their loyalty card for a free service on your fourth (or is it fifth, I can never remember?) visit for added value. I didn't have to go into detail with how I wanted my hair cut and the MVP service is great - it includes a hot towel for your face, neck/back massage (1-5 minutes, depending on who you get - my only complaint), shampoo with scalp massage and a hair cut - perfect for right after work. Of course, watching sportscenter while all of this is going on is an added bonus as well.
Due to the high turnover there, I need to lower my rating. Everytime I start to get to know one of the employees, they leave. I then have to take a chance on a new one. Inevitably, the first time someone cuts my hair, they get it really wrong and then I have to explain differently or longer next time.
Overall a good experience, as long as you know the person cutting your hair.
