Fabulous bread and much more – This place is a real find. We bought a bag full of breads, cookies, desserts and a couple of soups for a road trip, because we can't stand "highway food." Were we glad we did. Delicious, European-style crusty bread, not the wimpy, doughy kind usually found. Unbelievable pretzel rolls, (now my husband goes to the market every week to buy them).
We get the soups, too. We love everything Omega makes-I love the lemon cake, my husband is crazy about the Omega cake. Top notch!
Very Disappointed – We purchased a loaf of what was called "Rustic French". The loaf was so overbaked that the crust was too hard to eat. The soft portion of the bread inside the loaf was less than 20% of the entire loaf. This bread is only usable as very hard croutons or bread crumbs.
And if this is the purpose of this bread then it should be noted on the sign advertising this bread.
What we took back to our hotel as a treat ended up in the trash.
I'm very sorry you were disappointed with our Rustic French bread. It is certainly not for everyone, and we know that. However, so many people not only adore it, but become very agitated if we happen to run out of it (including me...it's my absolute favorite bread!), that we sometimes forget to mention to folks who are buying it for the first time that it is a very dark and very hard bread that is good for only one day (like any other long, slender bread made without preservatives). If you had only come back (you didn't have to bring it with you), we would have gladly refunded your money, or offered you another, softer bread. Again, please accept my sincere regret that you weren't happy with out product.
Amazing – Now I can't have a party without ordering from Omega---my friends expect it! I only wish it were a restaurant instead of a bakery!
Although I have enjoyed every single bread, the foccacia is beyond heaven. One generous slice of foccacia, a green salad and a glass of wine and you feel as if you're in Italy!
Another favorite is the raisin bread-with walnuts and perfect for toasting or eating just as it is. This bread is too good for butter!
The desserts have thrown me off my diet more than once. I have never tasted a better cookie than the Browned butter walnut cookie.
There isn't anything that I have ever tried here that I didn't like. Sorry, Dr. Atkins!
