Waste of money! – I went to Spa195 for a brazilian wax and asked for someone that was experienced. I was assured that the woman had 15+years of experience. She first proceeded to apply the normal wax and strips, but it wasn't 'grabbing' onto the hair (it still hurt like crazy though). So she had to leave the room to get a different wax and tried a hardening wax. It felt like she was pulling out the hair one by one. At the end, I still wasn't completely smooth, and it was very spotty. She told me that I needed a facial and that if I come back for another wax she could get the rest of the hair. NO THANKS!!
SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS – DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! More importantly, don't put your hair at risk. I went last week for the pretty city deal and I am ABSOLUTELY SURE the male hairstylist does not have his certification to be doing so. First, he washed and dried my hair, spraying water all over my face and entire body the whole time. (I immediately wanted to make up an excuse to have to leave) Next was the "repair treatment" that was just another conditioner that apparently normally costs $25 extra. He then chopped away unevenly at my hair, cutting one side too short with lots of layers and the other side was left way longer...some strands weren't even touched. Finally at the end I burst out, "I think that's enough" and he just stopped; It was the worst experience I've ever had and if I wasn't so nervous to be there in the first place (all alone with he and the old woman who owns the place) I would have demanded my "cut" for free. I would take my own time and energy, if this is even possible, to have the salon inspected and to view any sort of documentation that allows him to work there. Honestly, you'd be better off cutting your own hair than giving this place a CENT.
One word: Unprofessional – I have been to several day spas. I consider it a hobby. What I do not consider a hobby is complaining about bad experiences that I have. I rarely have ever complained to management, let alone in writing about a negative experience with a service, but my day at Spa 195 was so unbelievable that I feel it would be sinful not to warn my fellow spa-participants.
Where do I start? Let's start with the cold facilities and lack of attire. I was never given a robe during the experience. I had to change my clothes in between every treatment and I was wearing a hooded sweatshirt which got wet and, consequently, cold during my facial. The treatments themselves were o.k., but the lady conducting my massage had her cell phone on vibrate. It rang. She didn't answer, but she did listen to her voicemail of which I heard every word in another language because there was no music. Yes, you read that correctly.
After my massage, I proceeded to my facial where I passed my friend who described a screaming match between the co-owner (my lady for my facial) and the hair-stylist. Apparently, afterwards, the hair stylist explained to my friend what a "b****" the manager was and how the spa "...used to be busy until she started running the place..."
During my facial, the woman explained that the front desk girl was late and proceeded to answer the phone 6 times. She made 2 appointments. She also explained that my skin, in it's 20s, could use a laser light therapy treatment to reduce the fine lines on my forehead. She mentioned this 4 times after I said I wasn't interested.
My friend had a massage by the same woman that did mine. She said the room was cold, but the massage was good. She then had a body scrub which was extremely cold..and dirty. Instead of having a shower after the chocolate scrub, they wiped her down with cold towels from a bucket. They were re-dipping the towels in the bucket. It was gross. So, that was my day at Spa 195. I was refunded 50%.
