It was the worst food ever!! – it was the worst food i have ever eaten, i dont know what happened to it because the last 9 months its like they changed the quality of the food. The prices are to high for the portions that they give. The costumer services is the worst that i have ever experienced. the waiter took to long, our food took almost an hour.
has become the best mexican in boulder – after a remodel and new mgmt last year, this place has gotten better and better. the shrimp a la crema and enchilladas de espinacas are our personal favorites. they also have started giving free chip dips out- red salsa, mushroom/lime salsa, and cheesy bean dip. yum..
needs improvement – I've changed my review... broken front window that has not been fixed and burnt out light bulbs are a major turn off, what is going unnoticed in the kitchen? Every time I go they are out of something major and still try to send my meal out as if I won't notice. This was one of my favorite neighborhood places but I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
Better than most Mexican food in Boulder – Sol Azteca won't necessarrily bloow you away, but it is better than most of the mexican food in Boulder. The "Boulder Nachos" are the gem of the menu as far as I'm concerned. It's not often that you can get nachos with fried flour chips, spinach and mushrooms as well as the usual sour cream, guacamole and queso. They're great, though difintely not lo-cal.
As opposed to one of the previous reviews, I think it's pretty obvious that their salsa IS homemade. And is a true Mexican-style table salsa (that includes cilantro).
The menu is way too big though... trying to cover too many items.
Overall Sol Azteca is a dependable and tasty restaurant.
good, local, family friendly – We've only been here once but I was impressed by the quality of the food. For me, if the salsa isn't fresh and home made, I wonder what else is being zapped in the back. We enjoyed our lunches and would go back.
Authentic Mexican, fast service, big menu – This is the only Mexican food in Boulder that I've found that's even close to what I've eaten in Mexico. Huge menu, good veggie selections. Reasonable prices. We've never waited for a table; service is usually lightning-fast, staff are very friendly. Very easy access and parking. We eat there about once a week! The only change I'd make is that some of the dishes are very salty (like their nopal cactus dish).
User review by oscarfroggie – it's not that good, the food is not typical and the place does not feel right.
