My fiancee' and I were recently looking for a refrigerator. We went to all the local big box stores and while we found refrigerators, we also found that the salespeople had little or no knowledge about the brands they sell. We went to DeWhitt's hoping to find someone that could explain the difference in brands, models, etc. We were surprised by the product knowledge of our salesperson Glenn. He not only knew about the product, he knew about the warranties on each brand and also asked us questions about what our needs were. We ended up buying a refrigerator that not only fits our lifestyle and our cabinet (we had a tough fit), but also fit our budget. DeWhitt has been around a long time and it shows in their salespeople, their delivery people and their overall customer support.
It is refreshing to find a store and business that covers all the bases.....price, selection, courtesy and customer service. We had looked all over town at the major appliance stores and could not find some or all of the above mentioned things that make a business outstanding. The last place we went was DeWhitt, but in the future it will be the first. We were greeted by Nick and shown everything that we had been looking for. The courtesy, price, selection, explanations and demonstrations were outstanding. We ended up buying a French Door Maytag refrigerator and dishwasher. The refrigerator was delivered and installed on time by Josh and Chris. Their professionalism and customer service was something that you would hope to see. They would be a credit to any customer service business. We had the dishwasher installed later in the day by Rick and he was just like the others. Have told others where to shop first when looking for appliances. Thanks DeWhitt, keep up the good work.
I sincerely hope you will think twice about using this retailer. I bought a Jenn-Aire induction stove top from DeWhitt which requires magnetic pots and pans in order to operate. Not having any, I chose to go with DeWhitt becuase they offered a 12 piece pot/ pan set as an incentive. I could never get them to give me the pot/pan set despite being told it would be 2 weeks from the sale. After almost 60 days, and multiple calls with management I finally got a used store set from them.
Management is the problem at this place not the sales staff (which was good). You would think in this age of big box retailers, the smaller local distributor would be more than willing to make the customer happy. Not at DeWhitt as can be attested to by other reviews here. Management told me that 60 days was not too long to wait for what they promised in 2 weeks! They would not return phone calls, and when I did speak with them they were bordering on rude and certainly inconsiderate of the fact that I had dropped $1400.00 on a stove top that was now an art piece in my kitchen. In the end it was my threat to have them come remove the stovetop and my offer to accept a used set of pans in lieu of what they owed me that allowed me to use my kitchen again.
I could never get to the bottom of the problem as to whether delivery was a Jenn-Air issue or a DeWhitt issue. Regardless, the correct answer was to give me a new set of pans and then go fix the problem with the delivery. Instead they chose to make their customer bear the brunt of the problem. The result is that I will never be a DeWhitt or Jenn-Aire customer again.

Bottomline: At DeWhitt we found just the product we wanted, the salesperson offered useful alternatives to consider, but a very competitive price sealed the deal, payment was simple, we received our Energy Trust rebate form, and delivery was problem-free. We are very happy with our purchase at DeWhitt.
Full story: We had done our research online and had pretty much picked out the upright freezer of our dreams. DeWhitt was on our list of dealers to visit, having been long-time customers of Standard TV & Appliance and becoming less than enthusiastic about buying there again without some competition. So we just happened to be visiting another business across the street and decided to pop right in to see if they had what we were looking for. They did, along with some less expensive and nearest competing models, which were offered as alternatives on price and features. But we found just the model we wanted and made a quick decision to make the purchase. Glad we did. The freezer is perfect and so far flawless. The delivery was prompt and followed just the schedule we arranged. The delivery guys made extra efforts to get the unit down our long basement staircase by removing the spring from our screen door and the shade on an outdoor lamp, just to make sure there were no scraps or problems. They did a good job installing the unit, making sure it was properly tilted so the door closed automatically, and wiping clean any marks or smudges from transit. We also received some excellent advice on how long to expect the freezer to reach its proper temperature and to move our already frozen foods into it right away to assist in getting it colder faster. The freezer cooled off faster than expected so it was easy to get right into organizing everything going in there, something so difficult to manage with our old chest freezer. We now live in freezer heaven.
Top Notch Sales – My family and I recently made a rather large purchase of a Jenn-Air suite of appliances from Glenn at DeWhitt Appliance. We had gone to several stores to look at the appliances, and felt in the end when we made our decision that Glenn's knowledge, customer service and laid back demeanor made our decision to buy with Glenn and DeWhitt Appliance an easy one. We not only felt that his knowledge of the products was superior to those of other salesmen and competitors stores, but that his willingness to go beyond the normal to provide us with additional information we needed, to help coordinate the delivery and installation of our appliances was superior. Our new kitchen is amazing and we feel that is in large part to Glenn and his efforts. We have told our friends and neighbors about the service that Glenn provided, and he has made us lifelong customers!!! Thank you!!
Fast and Friendly Service – I went to DeWhitt after doing research on the internet for the best price on a Maytag range. Dewhitt's price was $100 less than any other quote.
I purchased an LG range at Home Depot 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems with the range. It has broke 4 times in the 3 year period. I purchased the repair plan through home depot and again that has been nothing but a headache trying to coordinate the repairs for this range. When I went to Dewhitt to purchase a new range Nick was very helpful and professional. I appreciate the fast and friendly service and will return to this family owned business the next time I need to purchase an appliance. Thanks Nick for your help.
Great products and prices – I recently purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer set. This is my second large purchase from DeWhitt and Kelley Babcock was my sales person for both purchases. I had such an awesome experience the first time that I knew I wanted him to help me with my second. He knows all the products extremely well and has over 27 years of Whirlpool expertise. My husband is a finatic about shopping prices and getting the Consumer Reports data before any large purchases. DeWhitt had the most competitive prices and we left feeling like we got the best deal. Oh the the delivery people were also prompt and set up everything for us. Thank you Kelley for another satisfying sales experience, you're the best!
Awesome Service and Great Prices! – We needed to buy appliances for 2 kitchens as well as washers and dryers for 2 new construction projects in NE Portland. We walked into DeWhitts and were met immediately by Nick who greeted us, asked about our needs and got right down to business! He was awesome! His product knowledge, willingness to find the best package pricing and his experience in this business made this daunting process a breeze.
We had been researching appliance brands, models, prices and options for several months and luckily found our way to DeWhitts. The product line options, the excellent pricing, the availibilty of stock as well as delivery service far out ranks any other appliance dealer in town. Keeping our money in the community by supporting smaller companies is important to us and DeWhitt's deserves our support! We made several last minute changes to our order and Nick rolled with them without blinking an eye! We walked out with detailed spec sheets on all our purchases so the contractors could easily prep for installation and we felt confident that we had exactly the brands, models and quailty of appliances we wanted for this project. Really, there is no reason to go anywhere else for your appliance needs....just wish we could buy all our plumbing and lighting fixtures there! Thanks Nick and team! Great Service Before and After the Sale – The first time I visited DeWhitt's, I was greeted at the door by Glenn. I told him that I was several months away from purchasing, as my husband and I were in the process of building a new home. He was very congenial and said he would be happy to answer any of my questions and help me weed through the many, many choices that were available to me.
Once I chose a brand (I bought all Electrolux!!), Glenn asked me many questions about whether I needed a regular depth refrigerator or counter-depth (up until that time no one had bothered to ask me that). I had no clue what the difference was, needless to say by asking that one question, he saved me a lot of striff down the road because I did need a special size.
When we were ready to purchase, I called the store and told Glenn we were coming. He printed out our quote and when we arrived walked us around to each of the products and explained things to us again, and answered all of my husbands questions. We ordered and received our products within 10 days, they were delivered and installed, and have worked wonderfully.
I recently had an issue with my stove, and Glenn put us in touch with the repair people, who came out and took care of the problem right away.

I purchased a Jenn Air Cooktop at DeWhitts and experienced excellent customer service and a grate price! My cooktop came in on time as promised. I Love my Jenn Air so much that I ordered a griddle to use on the cooktop. I was amazed that when it didn't come in on the exact day promised I got a personal call from Kelley Babcock and he offered to deliver to my home on his way home from work. Thanks so much for wonderful customer care!!!
