Will never go there again...Not happy with my gel nails AT ALL. – Much more expensive than what it's worth; terriblly ignorant regarding hurting the skin they do while buffing; no real hand message - it was rather a rub! Gel nail is an art and not everybody can do it. They have sculpt my nails each in differnt shape and form than the other! The French tips are horribly inconsistent and irregular, too. They wanted me to bring them back the buff next time!

great place, prepare to wait no matter what.. – I really like this place, the way it looks, whole place smells nice and clean...but it is such a hassle to go past the counter. One day you go they say you have to make an appointment, next time you call to make an appoinment, they say they dont accept appointments for short treatments, one day you have the approved appopintment you go, they tell you although you have the appointment they dont keep it , you have to wait until somebody is available.

If this keep repeating itself I am seriously considering not to step into this nice salon. What a pity..

cute place, great service, relaxing, perfect mani and pedi – what i like about the dashing diva are the hours and the nail polish selection, as well as the nice atmosphere. they make all their own manicure products, which work well, and they have 150 polish colors to choose from, for every kind of taste and mood. i never go to a nail salon expecting to get relaxed, but that is exactly what happens when i go to the dashing diva. when i am there i feel as if i am escaping for a bit, because the place is so quiet and nicely decorated and the staff is very calm and friendly. you don't get the sense that they are rushing you out of there at all. i like their spacious, hot pink terrycloth pedicure sofas bedecked with pillows -- they are so much nicer than the weird brown pleather chairs that other places have. i also like the fact that they have sinks where your feet don't touch the bottom -- a nice touch for those who don't like the usual whirlpool tubs. and my mani and pedi always turn out perfect -- smoothly polished and nicely shaped nails, and the polish is nice and thick and lasts more than the average cheap manicure. and they do offer something above the regular nails and waxing places that permeate manhattan. they are a little more expensive, but a basic manicure there isn't just about your nails -- they exfoliate and moisturize the skin on your hands and forearms and infuse the scrub and the lotion with a scented oil of your choice -- lavender and eucalyptus are the ones i remember but they have two more scents. their dashing diva oil at the dryer counter is a great product -- not like the essie oil most places use, it dries and hardens the polish but doesn't make your fingers and toes all oily. altogether a very nice complete experience.

Overpriced but friendly. – I was able to make a last minute appointment for Full Brazillian Bikini wax. I was taken in early, didn't even have to wait. The waxer was smiley and friendly which was nice. However, I'm not sure if this place knows what a brazillian bikini wax is. She took everything off of the "front" and told me it would be $10 more for other areas. I said fine, and she proceeded to wax the inner thigh area.. but nothing further. Maybe I am confused but usually when I get a brazilian it means you get EVERYTHING taken off (unless you tell them not to) front and back and you don't have to pay extra. So I spent $70 but still didn't get half of the waxing that I normally get. To top that off, I had a lot of irritation and a mild rash from the wax they used. (btw no gloves, and they redipped the same spatula).

Great experience – I've been to Dashing Diva several times over the last two years. I am shocked to read all the negative reviews, because I've always had great experiences. I've gotten their Basic manicures/pedicures, Diva mani/pedis, Virtual Nails, and even a 10-minute back/neck massage once, and they were all great. And I went once with a friend on a Friday night and we had so much fun sipping Cosmos and chatting the entire time. It'd be nice to have a longer massage during the manicures & pedicures, but I don't mind too much since my nails always look great when I leave and that's really the point. And the polish lasts longer than any other mani/pedi I've ever had. Maybe it's because I'm careful to stay under the driers for a loooooong time. Most of the times I go in there I'm wearing closed-toe shoes so I want to make sure my toes are really dry before I put my shoes back on. In addition, everyone has always been very nice, from the front desk receptionist to the nail technicians. My only complaint, but this is with nearly every nail salon I've ever been to, is that I keep my nails round, not square, and no one ever makes them round enough....they always make the tips straight across. When I got the Virtual Nails I kept asking for "rounder" and I still ended up with mostly square. However I just shaped them when I got home and since the polish doesn't ever chip on them it was fine. As for pricing, they used to be, as one review said, "a nice alternative to the corner nail salon" but their prices keep creeping up and they're approaching spa-level. I think their salon is clean, sanitary, friendly, and well-decorated, and their services are great, but it's not quite a spa. I don't make a gazillion dollars so if the prices go up too much more I'll have to find another place.

What up with the dog?? – Was in the salon 3 weeks ago and there was a disheveled dog running around. My nail tech said it was the managers and we can bring dogs now to the salon. Will they do dog manicures?

MOST FUN MANI/PEDI EVER! – Manicure/pedicures are usually boring and somewhat tedious -- not here! I come here all the time, but last week I went to "Girls Night Out" for the first time with a bunch of my girlfriends -- there was great music, great drinks, and great company -- it was like a party! They serve FREE Cosmopolitans, which were absolutely delicious.

Aside from a fun outing, the service is always great and they did a wonderful manicure and pedicure. I highly recommend the "Tailor Fit" nails and the "Spoiled Diva" pedicure. The pedicure includes microderm abrasion, which is really wonderful on my skin. The Tailor Fit nails are easy and look much nicer than my own -- they're like a pre-made French manicure! Also, they have such great colors to choose from and I even found the quality to be much better than Essie and O.P.I.!!! I highly recommend Dashing Diva to everyone!!! (I brought my mom and my little sister last week and it was fun for all of us!)

aweful products, aweful service, just plain AWEFUL – I visited Dashing Diva after reading about it in a magazine expecting a terrific experience and had one of the worst salon experiences I ever had. The nail tech and manager were rude, the nail tech wouldn't even answer my questions and seemed bored, the service was nothing better that I can't get for 1/2 price. 2 days after my service all my polish peeled off, their products on their shevles look cheap looking too...what is all the fuss? Instead of dashing diva, dashing dud!

Good Atmosphere - Mediocre Nails – The inside is bright and cheery, they have cute products and have great hygiene practices but that is all.

I have been getting my nails done for years and this is the worst place I've been to. The polish they used literally peeled right off less than a week after the manicure. I gave it another go when a friend wanted to try it out because the place is so cute. I tried a french manicure. 1st they made the white part literally 1/2 the nail rather than the stripe at the top. In addition the polish was lumpy. I caught it on the first nail and asked her for a thinner line at the top. She was very nice about it, and redid the nail. Out of the ten fingers I had 2 decent white lines. The rest were nothing like I had ever seen before - and I've been getting french manicures for 10 years. Again the polish peeled off within the week.

The third time I went because I was unable to talk my friend out of it. She had a nail infection at some point and understandably wanted to go there because they are so hygienic. Since I knew the polish peeled right off my nails I tried their virtual nails (lee press ons). Needless to say this was another failure. I know I have smaller nails, when I go anywhere for acrylic they use their small sizes and then file the sides. Here no such luck. She spent so much time sizing me I did not feel like arguing about it, I was also trying to have a nice time talking to my friend. So the nails were too big, and the polish was OK. When I have gone there the people have always been nice, it is just so disappointing the nails are so bad.

If you are worried about hygiene my advice would be to bring your own nail kit if you are trying someplace new. Also many of the nicer places sell them and can even keep them for you.

The best acrylic is usually in areas like brooklyn, washington heights, delancy - you even get free airbrushing at most places and it will only run you $20. Airbrushing = Flawless french manicure

If you are married to the village there are other places on 8th which are much better and just clean.

User review by nycagirl – I recently stopped in for a brow and lip wax for my first Dashing Diva experience. It wasn't painful, although the wax was a bit hot. I mentioned that my skin is extremely oily and acne prone, and she used a post-waxing lotion that, three days later, has not made me break out. I was impressed with their friendliness, which is why I'm surprised now that I've read the reviews. While I'm not trying to minimize other people's experiences here, I do believe that the service you get is generally reflective of how you treat the employee. So if you go into this salon with a friendly attitude and treat them with respect, perhaps you will get the same back. It certainly can't hurt. They seem very well-organized, and their nail color selection is impressive. I'm going back for a pedicure!
