Just not the same – Medusa was more fun when John Falcetta owned it.Where are they now? Well John is residing in the old gray bar hotel up in Boston. Shame.

An inexpensive, unpretentious Rittenhouse bar where "The Godfather" plays continuously and regulars glue dollars to the ceiling. – In Short
Medusa is something of a sleeper hit among Center City bar prowlers. Descending into the low-ceilinged, subterranean bar is a bit like invading the basement lair of a teenage goth. Giant hand-shaped chairs, garish paintings of screaming Medusa heads and strangely attired mannequin torsos stand out among the carnival-esque decor. After a few cans of Pabst, the menus of microwavable treats like Hot Pockets and Dinty Moore stew, may make more sense.

A Real Trip – A real trip, we had a time finding it because they play it down low with just a number on the door, which was actually cool... its funky and fun inside, cheap beer, and the dj was pretty good...a bit loud but .... jukebox was okay... bartender was dull but its not a showy place.... no food.... but once yoy settle in the crowd was fun the dj got into a great grove and we were up dancing... definitley fun... a new girl owns the place and she seems nice

Crazy fun – I've been to Medusa several times and it has always been a good time. The entire staff is friendly and just a little bit crazy. The drinks are not watered down and are very reasonably priced. This is one of the best bars I've ever been to.

Sometimes, it can get a little loud, but every bar gets that way. Trying to find parking should be an adventure for you.

Medusa Lounge is great. – I've been to this place a few times and I can say it's honestly different than the rest of the bars in the area. Always a fun place, and the walls are crazy the way they're painted. Really fun place, especially the VIP room.

Trying to be cool, but not quite – The bar has the air of trying to be Dirty Franks, but instead of letting the bar mature into a bona fide dive, it tried to accelerate the process with goofy props and faux graffiti (one gets the feeling that if you were to add real graffiti, you would be promptly thrown out).

The night I was there, three things annoyed me enough to leave before a buzz:

-The A/C was blowing right on us and was too cold.

-The DJ was way too loud.

-The DJ's choice of music was largely predictable and terrible. Come on, if you want to be a DJ, play at least some songs that were not the biggest hits on the CD! That's what radio is for.

I will likely go back. The draft beer is cheap. It was not too crowded. Patrons seemed young but chilled. Perhaps this place can turn cool.
