Two Sides To Every Story – As the owner of Hamanassett (and a Select Registry property) I care deeply about the satisfaction of our guests and the responsibility I have to them to offer the best service and hospitality possible. We are extremely pet friendly and only have a couple of rules such as the dog must be housebroken and taken outside to relieve themselves. When you accept dogs you have to have a few rules for the overall ambiance of the property. We do not even require guests to crate their dogs. These guests brought two dogs and left them in the room alone all day with pads all over the hardwood floor and carpet for the dogs to relieve themselves on. When I saw this I told the guest this was not acceptable. He became extremely argumentative and beligerant. I would ask that readers also consult our Trip Advisor reviews before making a decision about our bed and breakfast.
If you are looking for a relaxing weekend and want to travel with your dogs, go elsewhere – My wife and I travel with our two small dogs (under 10lbs each) and over the past 3 years have been trying out B&Bs within a 3 hour drive from NYC. We recently found the Hamanassett B&B and based on some phone conversations figured on giving it a try. Our mistake. Was the worst weekend at a B&B we've ever had. One of the innkeepers is not truly pet friendly and that really put a huge damper on our weekend. On top of that they had more rules then growing up in my parent's house and even my wife's, now that is hard to believe. If you want rules, want to feel as if you must tip toe around this is for you. Otherwise may I suggest the Glasburn Inn in PA or the Wolverton in Stockton NY.
Save your travel dollars and go elsewhere.
Brandywine Valley in the middle of the week. – We got to Hamanasett early evening. Owners were there to welcome us and truly made us feel at home, treating us like old friends even though we'd just met. How completely different from the impersonal attitudes we have gotten while traveling to other places. Glenn even showed us a shortcut into the heart of Philly for an afternoon of site-seeing that got us there quickly. I wish I had known about this place when I was running into the city on business; it would have changed my attitude about corporate travel. Breakfast was an absolute treat. I had forgotten how wonderful it felt for someone else to pamper us, anticipating our every need. We finally loaded the car to go touring some of the wineries before heading home, I hated to leave. I feel like I've made new friends and can't wait to get back.
