The food was decent, but we over heard the management speaking so rude to the staff. It was ridiculous. Not sure how this business is able to keep any staff. Can't over look good food for being unprofessional.
Best wings in the world – If you like wings you have to try the Jamaican Jerk wings. They are out of site.
Try it, You will Love It! – My family and I eat at Safari Miles very often for lunch on Sundays. They have great lunch specials and service.I was shocked to read the 1 star rating from a previous review and don't believe a word of it.We have been eating there since they opened and have always had any complaints (very rare) handled with courtesy and quickly resolved. We have lived in this area all our lives and were so happy when this quality restaurant opened as there were few choices here.
Best food in Lincoln County – I ate lunch at Safari Miles last Saturday. It was a pleasant surprise to get a well-prepared meal at such a reasonable price. The appetizer by itself filled me up. And it was worth a trip just to be able to eat vegetables instead of french fries. My waiter was attentive and courteous: it was truly Southern hospitality at its finest.
WORST SERVICE DO NOT EAT HERE – I wish I could give this place ZERO STARS, one star is being generous. I am so disappointed in my lunch experience today. I work in the area and used to eat at Safari Miles at least once every couple of weeks. After my meal today, I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN.
I simply asked the waiter if there was some way to add a side of fried shrimp to the fried oyster lunch special (which I have done several times in the past for an additional charge.) After he checked with the owner, Maria, he informed me that it was not on the menu and so they did not have to serve it. I said, "Oh well, that's stupid. I guess I'll just take the oysters."
When the oysters arrived they were so over cooked and over breaded they were crunchy and I had to pick the breading off, but ate them anyways because I was starving. As I was doing this, Maria came to the table and asked if we had a problem. I told her that my only problem was that they wouldn't give me the side of shrimp and she started yelling at me saying they don't have to do anything not on the menu, etc. etc. I said that I understood that but that but that I really didn't appreciate her being so rude and coming over to interrupt my lunch. I worked in customer service for years and waited tables as well in college so I know how stressful the job can be. She continued to get upset, was mumbling all kinds of things under her breath, giving me dirty looks and stormed off, saying she "has to make a living". The waiter was very nice and apologetic but I could here this crazy woman yelling in the kitchen. She then proceeded to write up the waiter, but I don't know why because he was only telling me what she said.
When the waiter came back to ask me how my food was I told him that the oysters weren't very good and to see if he could get them comped. I didn't realize Maria was the owner at this point and so she comes storming back yelling at me in the dining room saying "Why did you eat them if they weren't good?" and I said, "Because I was hungry!" So she said I ate they oysters so I would have to pay. I figured, "Oh well, worth a shot, I'll just never eat here again." When I went to pay, another man came storming out from the back and started yelling "Do we have a problem here??!" and I said, "Yes we do have a problem, this is the worst I've ever been treated in a restaurant, I was just trying to enjoy my lunch, etc." Then he goes and starts yelling at the waiter and FIRES HIM ON THE SPOT despite myself and several other guests testifying on the waiters behalf. When I told him that it was the woman Maria and not the waiter he started yelling that it was his wife. Meanwhile the whole dining room is watching them act crazy just dumbfounded by the whole thing.
Long story short, while the food is mediocre and inexpensive, the fact that these people are so rude and offensive to their customers and obviously treat their employees terribly and this should be enough to drive them out of business. If they're so concerned with making a living that they can't add a side of shrimp (for a charge!) maybe they should be more concerned with how they treat their customers!
Live music, and recent dance nights have given Denver something to do – The recent addition of live music and dancing has attracted a crowd to Safari Miles on Wednesday nights.
Shagging seems to be the thing to do on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I think some other sort of dancing should also be offered. The dance floor is a little small, however the staff is wonderful. On a recent trip I was approached by management to ensure I was "enjoying my experience". This type of top notch service impressed me. The food was okay, it could be improved.
just okay – Denver, NC isn't exactly known for it's restaurants, and Safari Miles won't change that. With all the casual dining options available a short drive away in Huntersville, this restaurant needs something to set itself apart. Unfortunately, the food is very average, and hasn't been consistent on the occasions I have dined there. It's an ok place for lunch, but the dinner fare needs a lot of work. This restaurant desperately needs an executive chef to institute some quality controls. A better trained staff is also in order; lack of wine knowledge among the servers and bartenders is painfully obvious, although the extensive martini list is a nice touch.
Great Food, Atmosphere, PERFECT – Great Lunch Menu with daily HOMECOOKED food. Dinner Menu, great.Prices very reasonable, portions large. Wait Staff very helpful and friendly. Owners Maria & Nick Fotino know how to Please customers. Highly Recommend!!!!!! Large patio Area for enjoying the Outdoors with Friends and Family.
