Bread was stale – I ordered a vegetarian sandwich. It would have been really delicious except the bread was stale. I even sat there in the place (downtown location) thinking that I could get a good sandwich if I just didn't buy it and leave, but...no happs.
Great sandwiches and FAST! – They really are as fast as they claim. By the time you're done paying someone else is almost done making your sandwich. Freshness is unsurpased with fresh baked bread, freahly sliced meats and fresh vegetables. My favorite is the Beach Club, which is a turkey sandwich featuring guacamole and sprouts in addition to your usual vegetables. And the size of their sandwiches are enough for two meals if you can stop after just half, but I'm usually unable to because it tastes too good!
Sub shop's inexpensive sandwiches appeal to everyone from business lunchers to late-night studiers. – In Short
Jimmy John Liautaud started his first sandwich shop in Charleston, Ill., in 1983. After mastering his bread recipe, he garnered a fan base through low prices and delivery service. Now, locations nationwide offer Turkey Toms on French bread or Italian Night Clubs on seven-grain bread. While delivery is still an option at many locations, most customers order at the counter. Sit at tables or booths beneath signs proclaiming "Free Smells" and "Subs So Fast, You'll Freak."
