Great Service, Fun Salon, Great Waxing – I went to L'Mu the first time a couple of months ago and instantly fell in love with the place. Sheila is a wonderful, warm, and funny gal with a great gift for brow design. I had been bouncing around various places trying to find someone who could tame my wild brows and struck the jackpot with Sheila. She is not only a master at brow design but also explained to me the growth cycle and why my manic plucking wasn't a good idea. She's quick, it's painless, and she's very funny. A few weeks later I had a facial, the Reparchage facial, which was so relaxing and comfortable. My skin felt great. I started using some of the Dermalogica products and my skin has cleared and brightened. Although she sells the whole line, I was impressed by the fact that she didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need; just a cleanser, a scrub, a sunscreen, and a PM moisturizer -- exactly the same number of items that I had been using before.
Prior to a schmaltzy evening out, I stopped in to get a quick makeup consultation and Sheila was a whiz, showing me how and where to highlight my features, and suggesting what color mouth to wear with my smoky black eyes. I was a knockout, turning heads all evening. She rocks, she's awesome. Thanks, Sheila!
Forget waxing: try THREADING – L/Mu is a fabulous, relatively new salon in the Pearl. I went there for other stuff, but found out about threading and tried it there. An alternative to waxing, threading is great for facial hair removal, brow shaping (and the clean-up of other zones.) It's less painful than wax, and especially in the case of eyebrows, the result is more elegant. I've had my brows waxed for years, but these are definitely the nicest ones I've ever walked out of a salon with. Ask for Gigi. She does a wonderful job, and will share with you how she learned threading from the women in her family. It is a wonderful, detailed, and speedy technique. L'Mu is an all-around top-of-the-heap salon, reasonably priced and accessible. (You'll never feel like you wore the wrong clothes to your appointment - they treat you like a friend, and they mean it.) A small select team works there, and they are all interesting, gifted folks. High-end, high-quality products and services, and genuine, caring customer service. Real women. What a pleasure.
Looking to drop ten years? Got to L'Mu – Sheila and crew work magic. I really feel like I am taking care of myself when I walk into that salon. They have many excellent services -- too many to be described -- but if you want to 'defy your age' or just look amazing, L'Mu is the place. Clean, elegant, supportive atmosphere. Definitely no sales pressure.
The sister is a genius. – Brown girls and everybody else, listen up. Sheila is an artist, and brings up the glow in every girl, of every hue, dark or light, pink or white. She looks at the whole woman, inside and out. Skin health and quality products are priorities for her. You can trust her. I send my friends there. No hype, no sales pressure: just passionate, committed beauty professionals. Sheila hires amazing people. Get a massage from Penny: she will cure what ails you, even if you don't know what it is.
Lash extensions + permanent cosmetics = heaven – I found L'Mu because I was looking for tattooed eye-liner. I got it. Cash well spent. Kurt is the guy to go to. He starts with very subtle tattooing, and adjusts it per your wishes. I went back for brow liner and got my lips tattooed too. This led me to L'Mu lash extensions, which beat the hell out of mascara. Next came L'Mu brow threading, which beats the hell out of waxing. None of it looks make-upy or fake, and I don't have to put on make-up if I don't feel like it, which I usually don't. Everybody says "you look better" but they can't figure out why. Do it. Besides looking better than you did (made-up or not), think of the extra time you get to spend in bed mornings, since you don't have to stand around in the bathroom getting your game-face on. And you can still put on make-up when you want to go out and be extra gorgeous. And if you DO want make-up, throw away your old stuff and get some of L'Mu's mineral based products. Ask L'Mu owner Sheila to pick it out for you. She has a very sophisticated eye and will get it right. She never pushes products, gives you time to think, special orders things if you want her too, and won't sell you stuff that is unflattering or bad for your skin. Plus, she has assembled the ultimate team of girl beauty experts, plus Kurt. Very hip, unique, down-to-earth shop.
Best free make-up class in town – Owner Sheila is a joy to watch at one of her make-up parties, because she is so passionate about bringing out the princess priestess ass-kicking feminine super-hero in every girl, from 18 to 80. Seriously. I'm going to take my mom there, and my sisters too. Sheila can help you achieve that 'polished, clean, subtle it doesn't look like make-up' look, or she can help you achieve that 'stop in your tracks and behold me because I am a queen look,' no matter who you are. She can set you up for both and everything in-between. Sheila is kind and a pro and knows what will work. If you're tired of your current cosmetic habits or lack thereof, she'll get you out of your rut and show you how to use colors you might not otherwise know to try. Or, she'll help you use the colors you like more effectively. If you don't know how to use make-up and want to learn, she'll teach you, and you won't look like Jon Bonet Ramsey, Nancy Reagan, an aging street walker, or that lady at church with the purple eye-shadow and clown lipstick. And Sheila will absolutely not let you buy something you don't need. She is good at figuring out how much effort you're willing to put into your daily face, and will come up with a practical routine. A very cool chick is Sheila.
Go get lash extensions from Sheila right now – It's worth it. You won't ever bother with mascara again, and you'll look fabulous even when you go camping. Shelia knows how to tailor your lash look - from natural to super-diva, depending on your mood. The monthly maintanance cost is small and the appointment is quick, and it's fun to be in that salon. I checked prices for lash extensions around Portland, and Sheila's fees are more than fair. She works extra hard to make you happy, and her expertise is obvious. Lots of other nice services at L'Mu. Great staff: all skilled, generous, smart, helpful. Wonderful salon in every way. Friendly, comfortable ambience.
Editorial Review – More spa treatments than haircuts and color, this salon offers make-up application, massage, facials and hair removal too.
Not just for women!! – Hey Guys,
Are the ladies that run L'Mu classy and beautiful? Yes... but do they only cater to other women? No.
I paid them a visit thinking it was a convenient place to pick up some make-up for my wife, but while I was there Sheila offered me a "face mapping" and "skin analysis". I'm an easy sell... but the facial that came from it was well worth it. Definitely relaxing... and apparently good for my skin, too.
I couldn't leave without addressing one other bodily issue... but after a few painless minutes, my random back hairs went bye-bye. Karen, thanks for the painless wax!!
Mark me down as a satisfied (and smooth) L'Mu client.
Incredible results – I started coming to L'Mu 2 years ago and my skin and overall appearance has improved dramaticaly! My esthetician took care in analyzing and prescribing a skincare regimen tailored to my needs and the results have been amazing. I feel truly cared for and wouldn't go anywhere else. Check out their incredible new makeup products too!
