Ready for a meat-tastic flashback? This retro-cool steakhouse specializes in thick slabs of well-marbled beef and traditional sides, served a la carte. Make the experience complete with a Caesar tossed table-side and then finish with an order of Bananas Foster. There's a decent happy hour at the bar and it runs all night on Mondays.
wonderful times at El Gaucho – I've been to El Gaucho three times, and each was excellent. My first time was for dinner, and the service, food, and ambiance were well up to the standard that I had set for a place if its calliber. The other two times were for after dinner drinks- one time being my birthday. The place was virtually empty, but regardless, the piano player played "Happy Birthday" and we had a great time! I hope to return soon to El Gaucho!
nouveaux riches wanted – I could not have been more disappointed with this restaurant. I'm no stranger to paying for quality, but this restaurant DOES NOT deliver quality. It's a place for people to impress each other (oo, my bank account is bigger than yours!), not for a good meal, a romantic meal, or a remotely satisfying experience.
The wait staff was pretentious, the food was mediocre at best (one standout: excellent salmon), the atmosphere left EVERYTHING to be desired. I was so embarrassed when I sat down and looked at the prices that I wanted to leave there and then. The absolute worst were the wine prices -- I had to laugh out loud when I looked at them.
Really, for GOOD STEAK, go to the Metropolitan Grill. To waste money in a dark, ugly 1950's-style Vegas supper club, go to El Gaucho. Hopefully your waiter won't condescend to you. Good luck.
A wonderful night – From the moment we walked in the door I doubt I've ever had better service, we were early so we waited briefly in the louge, which makes outstanding drinks, and then were seated early. Everyone from the hostest to bartender and the waiter was amazing. And the steak, wow, I'd recommend the Filet Mingon, it literally melts in your mouth, and I'd also suggest the baked potato. I know it's just a potato, but you'll see. Also the table side cesear salad is wonderful to see and taste.
Stunningly delicious – One airline magazine called El Gaucho "the best steakhouse in the Northwest, and possibly in the United States" -- and I couldn't agree more.
Derik Jeter! – Ok, Not only did I LOVE the steak (I'm a small town farm girl from Kansas... I know my STEAK) I got to sit next to the EVER SO SEXY Derick Jeter.... I tell you hOt hot hot!
Beef – Steak is awesom, a little expensive on the wine list but a good selection. Make reservations and enjoy the ambience after go next door for a cigar at the Pampas Room.
A Classic – Outstanding Caesar Salad, tender and mouth-watering steak, bread and professional service. Menu is a steak-lover's delight - an incredible selection! If you can, you must save room for the desserts. Interior is somewhat dark, but it reminds a person of the 50s style upscale restaurant.
Argentina's illegitimate child! – Why call el Gaucho a restaurant that does not have a single Argentine cut? The food is average and the wine is incredibly overpriced - $1200 for a 1982 Bordeaux. Seattle is still lacking a great steakhouse - listening Smith and Wollenski??
Fabulous – I am not usually a steak eater at all. But, I promised to take my steak loving boyfriend to a nice restaurant in Seattle that was known to serve a good steak. El Gaucho's has won me over! I can't wait to go back and have another one of their wonderful steaks! We were late for our reservation, so they sat us in the bar by the piano. We still had excellent service and an incredible dinner! Two big thumbs up!
the best – Great Steak and tremendous drinks. Very comfortable atmosphere. Gives you the feeling you have a million dollars sitiing in your bank account without a bill that requires it. Five star all the way!
