My daughter age 7, attended a week long summer camp at Dead Broke Farm. This was her first time riding a horse and she came home super excited about her experiences, grining ear to ear. She also would talk about the many other animals she interacted with on the farm and what each one likes to eat. Hay rides and the playground were another highlight in addition to riding the horses. From a staff persepective, I was always greeted with an enthusiastic smile and the staff member calling my daughter by name upon arrival and departure. A bonus is they also have a professional photographer (3rd party but who has worked with this group for the past 5 years) who takes photos on the 2nd day so you have the option to purchase pictures of your child's experiences riding a horse - a very nice touch. The real test came when I asked my daughter if she would like to do camp here again next year, to which she replied enthusiastically yes, in short she loved it and I loved seeing her have such a good time.
My 7-year old daughter is just finishing a week of camp at Dead Broke. She has had an amazing experience. I seriously have not seen her this excited about a day camp - ever! She comes home dirty and happy - in my opinion, a true sign of an authentic and awesome farm experience. Her favorite things are the baby chicks, caring for the horses and the tractor rides.
My 2 daughters have been attending the horse camp at Dead Broke Farm for the past week and LOVE it!!! Both of my daughters have been riding horses since they were 4 years old and are familiar with horses. They love that they get to ride 2x a day for an hour each time and that they get to go on wagon rides daily. This is a true farm experience with chickens, miniture horses and dogs to play with throughout the day. When they are not riding they are playing on the playground, brushing or playing with the farm animals and learning how to care for the horses. Yesterday, a horse farrier came and showed them how to take off horse shoes and put new ones on. Each child got to take home their very own horse shoe.
It is apparent that the owner of this farm truly loves her animals by her huge heart to take in so many rescue horses. Having been around horses for a while through my daughters, these horses are well fed and taken care of. Today when I dropped my kids off for the last day of camp, they were begging to return next week. This camp has been a rewarding experience for them to not only have fun and exciting week, but also to learn the ins and outs of a horse farm.My girls love the staff and I have nothing but positive things to say about them! They have been very kind and a pleasure to work with!
If your child loves horses and does not mind getting her hands dirty on a true farm, then you will love Dead Broke Farm! I highly recommend it and plan to send them back next year!
My nieces have been attending camp this week and are having the time of their lives! They love the counselors and they love the animals. There are tons of dogs to pet, a pony, chickens, and plenty of horses to ride. They have several favorites. They are already asking to go next year!
With a household of four kids finding something that can intrigue three simultaneously is heaven and RARE. The staff are great, fabulous communication, wonderful and safe instruction for the actual riding. I'd definitely recommend Dead Broke Farms summer camp to friends! All the stories about the horses and their days at camp have been priceless!
My daughters are attending full day summer camp this week (6/25/12) and they are loving it. From the first day they were excited to play with the friendly animals and ride the horses. I purchased the week of camp through a LivingSocial deal, but am considering sending them at the 'regular rate' because they have enjoyed themselves so much! It is great to have them outside and active as they are learning to take care of animals. The kids even get to ride the horses twice a day. My youngest daughter turns 6 in July so she is eager to go back after her birthday so she can ride independently.
My 2 grandchildren (ages 7 & 8) are attending the horse camp this week (June 18-22) for the first time, and they LOVE it. When I pick them up in the afternoons, they are so excited to tell me about their adventures of the day - riding and caring for the horses, petting all the farm animals, playing outside, & making new friends. Great experience for them. I would highly recommend this camp - it's just great.
My kids are in a week long summer day camp at Dead Broke Farms this week. Although, it does not seem as structured as other camps the kids have attended, they are really enjoying the "Horse Farm" life. They can't stop talking about the horses and their personalities. I would send my kids to this camp again.
My 11 year old daughter is attending Dead Broke Farm day camp. She is having a great time! The campers get to brush and tack their horse (a great learning experience) and get to ride twice - once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Plus there are lots of animals that they can pet and play with. I would recommend Dead Broke Farm camp to anyone who has children who love horses.
I'm having a great time at the farm. The animals are sweet and fun to watch and play with. There a lot of animals to play with like horses, bunnies, a miniature pony and different kinds of birds. I've had a great time and can't wait to go back!
