Studio City's Great hidden spot! – Got to admit, place rocks! Nice sound system, great lighting, and best yet, great crowd, had a great time, made some great contacts, reminds me of the good music clubs in Boston. Definitely worth checking out!
Great place to hear good music! – Great spot to see good music. Staff has been totally replaced. Almost like they wiped the canvas clean and started over. Beautiful decor. The sound in this place is great. BANDS you would love it here.
Look forward to coming back again and again.
Drink up! lol! – Hello everyone. I'm part of the new managements staff that has taken over AURA since the end of December(08). I have personally taken the time to read all the past reviews of AURA. I'm pleased to inform you all that we have a new management team, security staff, bar staff, bottle service staff and a whole new lineup of Club Promotions beginning this April. I understand everyones view on our venue from the past and we have taken large steps to alter that view.
We want you all to enjoy your experience at AURA, not dread it. I want you to feel safe and secure with our new security staff, have your drinks properly and promptly made by our new bar staff, be well attended by our attractive bottle service staff, respected by management and Club Promotions that make you want to come back for more.
If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them for you.
Thank you and have a good evening,
Chris
worst place ive ever been to in my entire life – bartenders unfriendly, drinks expensive, bartenders jerks, bathrooms disgusting, bottle service rediculously overpriced for a club in the VALLEY, even on a night where the promotion was good and the place was packed, which is rare, AURA proved to be aweful.
Phenomenally Bad – This was flat out the worst experience I have ever had at a bar or restaurant. Server got the following wrong: 3 drink orders (beers, not mixed drinks), 2 sandwich orders, and took 3 hours (from 7pm-10:15pm) to bring the order out. No managers to be found, obnoxiosly complacent employees, long lines, and incredibly overpriced menu items.
If you want a true taste of Hollywood transplanted up in the Valley, here it is. Save yourself the misery of this terrible establishment and find a local Irish pub or some other bar that isn't so obsessed with their image that they forgot how to simply please the customer.
NO WAY!! – This place does not even deserved a star. Long line to get in, rude bouncers, ganster mentality, way overpriced at $20.00 a head, expensive drinks, poor ventilation, expensive valet, and the crowd it attracts are kids waiting to pick a fight. I do not recommend this place whatsoever. Only good thing about this place was a DJ that belongs in a better club.
Terriable!! – The WORST PLACE I have ever been. I read all the reviews before I went to this club last night and I should have known better than to stil go. A $20 dollar cover us way overpriced for this place, the first drinks we bought were vodka cran. $14 dollars for straight up cranberry juice. The bar manager made these drinks, after I complained about the drinks (Ive been in the resturant industry for four years) there was no compensation. The D.J. played the same five songs over for the two and half hours I was there., I think he only has one mix cd. This place was more than disappointing and MANAGMEMNT NEEDS to STEP IT UP!!! This is unacceptable to provide service like that. I understand this industry and my resturant/club prides itself on GREAT COCKTAILS, FOOD and SERVICE! Please save yourself the waste of time and money and go some where else. DO NOT GO TO AURA!!!!!
Great sound and strong drinks – Went to check out some bands at this place and I was blown away by the incredible sound. The bartender was hot and wasn't afraid to make my Jack and Coke nice and strong.
I look forward to jamming there again soon!
Ok.... – Nice surroundings...Good music. But if you encounter the wicked witch of the West behind the bar....ASK for a new bartender!!!! She was so rude! I found out when I complained that I was one of hundreds! She is one of the "managers"...So nothing has come of the complaints yet. But I hope they fire her SOOOOON!
Clubbin' in the Valley – I've been to this club a couple times, and I like it. I've only been on Fridays and Saturdays. The line isn't ever too long, and if it is, it doesn't take long to get in. I don't drink that much, but the few times I went to the bar it took a long time to get a drink. It seems like there isn't enough bartenders, but once they get to you they are nice and prepare your drink quickly. The music is always jumpin and there is a lot of room to dance. I would go here every Saturday if the cover wasn't $20; and that's for guys AND girls! That's a little much for the valley...
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE RUDE SERVICE – The club would be just fine if it werent for the rude bartender. She was absolutely miserable and nasty. Im usually pretty easy going, but I seriously wanted to reach across the bar and beat her, she was so horrible. Seriously, her attitude ruined an otherwise decent night. They need to do something about the service here.... plus the drinks werent even that great.
I have never been treated so rudely in my life... – I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone looking for a chill evening with friends? unless you are really up for a fight with the staff! The decor and atmosphere was inviting, but these are just a facade for the HORRIBLE, and I mean HORRIBLE service. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. I was there for a birthday party and as a paying customer one expects at least mediocre service, but you certainly don?t expect to be treated rudely. The drinks were terrible and the bar tender was so amazingly disrespectful, it was shocking. On top of making sub-par drinks, she seemed more than bothered to take your order then threw your change at you in return. Further, upon placing a formal complaint, management made no attempt to curb this behavior. And for the record, this was not just to me and my party, but 4 other parties confirmed this as well. It seemed like such a lovely place upon arrival, too bad it leaves such a bad taste in your mouth when you leave.
Food was less than desirable!
Went to Aura for a BDay party with bias due to the consistent negative reviews. Surprisingly, the staff was great providing additional sitting and moved tables to accommodate our needs (18 people). At 10 pm the waitress assisted a member of our party through the line (long line outside) to get inside. The bar staff was at minimum decent with fair prices. Eye candy (bar staff) could have been better but people who came to the club had compensated for that. Where Aura needs improvement is with their food! Preparation time was longer than average, small portions, and taste was less than desirable. We left unsatisfied and needed to get food afterwards. I rate their food 3 out of 10. If it wasn't for really bad food experience I would have rated Aura an 8 out of 10. Overall our experience was 6/10.
Worst Place to Have a Birthday Celebration – If you plan on celebrating your birthday at Aura, be prepared to be highly disappointed. My birthday experience here was horrible.. The bouncers at the door played favoritism in letting only "cute" and "inappropriately dressed" women in, while most of my guests had to wait for long periods of time before being allowed in . The bouncers were rude, the dj totally sucked--- too much 80's music for a Saturday night that promised to deliver the best in hop-hop, reggaeton, and latin music. In addition, the drinks are super expensive with rude bartenders and a waitresses that act like they could care less about you. I spent half the night kicking people out of my reserved seats-- the experience was just horrible, horrible, horrible. Unless you are spending tons of money on VIP, then expect to be highly disappointed! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.
Scarlet-red disco brings the bling to the 818. – The Scene
The second floor of a sprawling mini-mall may not seem like the ultimate nightlife destination, but there's a sultry and funky dance club beyond that velvet rope and up the private escalator. The main lounge area boasts an 18-wheeler-sized bar with mirrored shelves and a DJ tower, and cushy red-velvet booths with table service. All the hype is on the dance floor, where Valley-dwelling youngsters shake it under pulsing lights to hip-hop, or groove to live disco and rock.
The Draw
The pickup scene is as randy as a liquor-soaked frat party, but the elegant decor and well-dressed crowd elevate the experience to mimic a swanky Hollywood club experience--without the over-the-hill hassle.
Cheap imitation of a club – This place is TERRIBLE. There is no such thing as bringing Hollywood to the Valley. This place had the worst DJ who couldn't even transition or play songs in entirety. The drinks were mediocre, the crowd was aweful, and the doorman was unprofessional. If you have no standards, then feel free to explore this cheap imitation of a real dance club.
lame valley club – I went with a girlfriend on a friday night, it was $10 each to get in with expensive drinks. No one was dancing and only the waitstaff was attractive. We left 20 minutes after we got there and went to Santa Monica. From now on I'll just drive over the hill to go to a club.
I had a great time!!! – I went to Aura with one of my girlfriends for her birthday. We had a fantastic time and I would totally reccomend it for a girls night out! We had a blast and had our own booth where we could watch the dance floor and the bar to check out all the cute guys there. If you are a single female in studio city, you need to check this place out. I promise you will not be disappointed!
Great Atmosphere – Since this was my first time at Aura I didn't really know what to expect, but I ended up having a really good time. They played really great music all night long. The place was really crowded but not overwhelming and lots of people were on the dance floor. The bartenders were very attentive and poured generous drinks. I also really enjoyed the mood of the place. It was kinda dark and the red booths were super cozy. I live in the Valley and have been searching for a fun place to go on the weekends. I am looking forward to going back to Aura soon=)
HORRIBLE – This club wishes it were in Hollywood but would never survive if it were really there. C'mon, it's in the valley and it acts as if it were a hot club. The service is really terrible; the bartenders were really rude. They had terrible attitudes, could not make a nice, strong drink, and took forever doing it. The DJ was playing a scratched CD...don't you think a $10 cover should at least get a decent DJ? Plus, the place was empty, and the people who were there were poorly dressed and not the type I would want to mingle with. I highly recommend you waste your money elsewhere.
Hot Bartender – The girl bartender there has a pretty bad attitude. But there is a guy bartender that was working tonight who was soooooooo sexy and friendly. I will be back for the atmosphere and the bartender!
Very Bad Experience – At 7:00 pm on a Friday night, we were the only ones there and the service was still slow. When the Bar Tendress started at 8:00 I was her first customer and she already had a miserable attitude. At $28 for 2 Margaritas and a coke, they could at least be friendly and quick. Our group from work will never go back.
it was okay – aura is the, "plushest" club i've been to. "plushest," due to the theme: red all over. it seemed like velvet all over the place. it's a small club, so it had some sort of an intimate setting. i came to aura to celebrate a friend's birthday. he rented out the VIP section which wasn't bad. we got great service (maybe it's b/c the group where i was at was VIP). drinks were just right and appetizers were tasty. i arrived there at around 10:30 pm and it was DEAD!!! i was dissapointed at that, but once people started coming (around 11:30), it was pretty alive. i can see why my friend rented out this place; the atmosphere is great for parties. but as just for a small group going out, it was alright.
Wasn't bad... – I went there on a Friday night over Thanksgiving weekend. Music was a good mix of hip hop r&b and reggaeton. The crowd tended to be dressed nice, which is what I like. Moderate number of plush booths and bar stools. The focus is all on the hard wood dance floor, which made it clear this place is about having a good time. It took up most the space in the place. It was was nicely crowded and not over packed. I didn't have any food but the drinks were strong as hell!
Very disappointed. – We went over there on Friday night. The place was very crowdie. Food, DJ were terrible and bartender attitude awful. This place has to learn a lot what does mean service.
Great Live Music and Dancing – This place has amazing sound and looks great! I just saw a show Saturday and the place was insane. After the bands left the DJ's started spinning old school and modern hip hop so we stayed and hung out. About time Studio City had a place to get your groove on.
Worst dining experience ever! – We went there with a large group of people for dinner, and it was terrible. It took them 45 minutes to bring out appitizers, and then they brought people's food out one by one. It was 3 hours after we ordered before the last person had their food. We weren't able to eat together. The waiter told us that they have a kitchen the size of a house kitchen and one chef so they could only prepare 1 or 2 meals at a time. It was the worst dining experience i've ever had. I definitely would not recommend it as a place to eat. The dj there was horrible...he was playing a cd and it kept scratching and the song would stop. The drinks were over priced and weak. The staff tried to make up for it by giving us a free round of drinks, but it definitely wasnt enough.
TERRIBLE – After being deceived by the photography and one positive review, my friends and i decided to try Aura. I was truly shocked upon entering. It looked like a village hall with a bar on one side and terribly designed seating on the other. The only saving grace of the supposed "VIP" area was that it offered some relief from the screeching band playing on the stage in the main room. Bar Tender was rude and unhelpful and the food was awful. This place cannot decide whether it wants to be a supper club, restaurant or nightclub, so it tries to very unsuccessfully combine the three. I would think the 818 can do a lot better than this.
It is about time! – Amazingly beautiful! Plush booths, large strong drinks, incredible food, kick a** DJ's on sat nits and a friendly atmosphere over all. The VIP rooms really add a high end touch to eveyrthing. Great for Bday parties and events..
COme by one nt but call first so u know it will be crowded. I have been in nightlife for a long time and I can say this palce has a ton of potential..

Much needed spot in the valley – Wow, Aura turned out to be better than I expected. I went there with some friends (Sat 11/20) and we all had a great time. The drinks are the same price if not a little cheaper than the hollywood clubs but they are twice the size and STRONG!! The crowd at first was thin but filled up as the night wore on. The music was great it got everyone dancing. Aura is truly a nice little secret but probably won't be for long since there's been some celebrity sightings there this past weekend. One draw back, they have to figure out what to do with cover. I called and they said that there was a $10 cover, I spoke to someone else and they said its was $5, but when we finally got there, it was FREE!!! They need to make up their minds but FREE would definately be better!!!
Finally Funky in the Valley! – Despite the velvet rope, the doormen were kind and inviting. Upstairs, the atmosphere is cool and funky. The DJ sits risen in the middle of the bar. Red velvet booths line the walls, spacious bar and great dance floor. Bartenders were friendly. Dinner menu available (didn't get to try it, but the drinks were good!). The valley needed a place like this!!
