Come Hungry... Leave with mixed feelings – The place was packed, only one spot available up front, that I got as someone was leaving. We came in and were seated right away. A young girl comes and takes our drink order. I order coffee and she asks, "with cream?". "Yes, please.", I replied. She comes back with our drinks, no straws for anyone are offered, she forgot the cream. I remind her, "I'll be right back." she says. Another waitress notices that another table in our area has no silverware and tells our waitress. Our waitress comes back saying "I noticed you had no silverware." Still have no cream. She then takes our food orders, still no cream. We order salads with our meals as we are very hungry and a salad would make a nice appetizer. Another 10 minutes pass, no cream, no salads. I take my daugter to the restroom, when I come back, I have my coffee creamer after my wife had to flag down the waitress who was helping another table. I say jokingly, "what do you think the chances are that we'll get our salads before our food arrives?"
15 minutes later, the food arrives, no salads. At this point, she still has no clue what happened. I thought maybe they would be stupid enough to bring the salads with our food but to forget entirely was unthought of.
I point out to our waitress that she forgot the salad and tell her to take them off our order.
The food is good. My bottomless pot of coffee had 2 cups inside and was never refilled. Noone was offered refills. Our waitress disappears for 20 minutes at a time. At this point, I just want to get out. We ask for our check and she brings it about 5 minutes later.
To our surprise, the kids meals were free. I had heard something about it in a commercial, but it said nothing about this in the restaurant, on a window, or on the sign outside.
I could tell the people around us were getting a similar type of service from comments heard "We ordered somd water...", "No one took your drink order yet?" I was jealous to be seated on the other side of our divider where the server sounded like she actually had a perosnality which ours seemed to be lacking.
You then have to pay your server, who will ring you up. I saw several people walk up to the cash register with their bill (it seems their waitress dropped off the bill but never came back to collect). I decided we would lay cash on the table and walk out rather than have her take another 15 minutes of our time. I'll be damned if any of us our ordering dessert here.
I'm sure this was just a a case of one bad server, but at that point a manager should have stepped in. Where was the management? Were they short handed? Was this girl new? Was she not getting any help? I don't know. I do know, I will probably go back to IHOP again, just not this one.
Breakfast served all day and pancakes served a variety of ways are the hallmarks of this diner-style restaurant. – In Short
The first International House of Pancakes opened in a suburb of Los Angeles in 1958 serving a menu of hearty breakfast favorites. Today the restaurant still serves its signature dishes like the original buttermilk pancakes and pigs in blankets: sausage links wrapped in hotcakes. Other breakfast items include waffles, omelets, French toast and crepes. Non-breakfast offerings include sandwiches, burgers, entree-sized salads, and dinners like T-bone steak, pot roast and herb-roasted chicken.
