Citysearch Editorial Review – While there are a few similarities to the Silver Lake Coffee Table, Eagle Rock's outpost has a lot more going on. For starters, the menu is much larger, they serve beer and wine, and there's WiFi (except during the weekend breakfast/lunch rush). Housed in the historic Bell Block Building, built in 1929, the cavernous space features sky-high ceilings and exposed brick in the main room, where you order at the counter. A second dining area is awash in natural light and vibrant mosaic-tiled tables, while the third, darker option features a flat screen TV and cool murals on the walls. There's also sidewalk seating. And then there's the lounge. The sports-centric bar area offers 20 constantly rotating beers on tap and around 100 more in bottles. The cafe menu offers organic coffee and tea, salads with homemade dressing, burgers, sandwiches, melts and wraps. The dinner menu ups the ante with a few steak, chicken, fish and pasta entrees, while breakfast includes four different breakfast burritos--try the Burrito from Hell if you're up for some serious spice. Much of the produce is locally grown and the meat is all natural and hormone free. As with the sister restaurant, you'll also find a bakery case stocked with pretty cakes and pies, plus bagels, muffins and more.
VERY Slow Service! – Placed my order and 26 minutes later no sign of my order. I approached the counter to inquire on the delay and the guy went to the kitchen and came back to let me know it would be another 2 minutes. Needless to say, 35 minutes later, my order finally arrived. They were NOT busy at all and the food was bland and poorly put together. My order was not a complicated dish and should have been out in 15 minutes tops, not 35 minutes. It was not worth the wait for a bland sandwich and fries. Very disappointed.
Great Menu Options - Delicious! – I'm a newbie to CitySearch. We went to the Coffee Table on a whim, as semi-informed by Los Angeles Magazine. The guys behind the counter were polite, kind and helpful. We ordered a salad and burger combination to share and we were so surprised at how perfect the portions were, how great the price was and how totally delicious the burger and salad were! The chili fries left something to be desired, but overall, wow! We will definitely be going back, perhaps again this weekend!
