Reviews for Stanhope Grille

Great service, average food – I took a group of friends and family to the Stanhope Grille for Restaurant Week. When the first few of our party arrived, we were escorted to the "dining room" to "get away from all of the noise" by the bar. It was a Thursday night so it was very very loud. Unfortunately the room was right next to the bar, so it was still very loud. A little off-putting, but the hostess was nice in a pretentious sort of way. Waiters were filling our glasses with water and serving us platters of delicious bread. The service was terrific. We tried not to eat too much of the bread to save up our appetites for the main courses.

The lobster bisque was about 10 spoonfuls, and the salad was about 2 pieces of romaine. The entree... the duck was the size of my fist. I ordered the salmon, and it was funny because the pea puree and the goat cheese polenta cake had more flavor than the salmon itself. For dessert, I had the brownie with caramel sauce, and the brownies tasted like something I could get from Pepperidge Farm.

The service was good, but also took a very long time. You would think that preparing items from the Restaurant Week menu would be done in an efficient manner but we were there for several hours. At the end, they gave us a 10$ gift certificate to use "when we come back" with our bill (18% gratuity already included, which was fine). Unfortunately, none of us wanted this certificate. Don't think any of us will be back.

The place was pretty though.

Stanhope Grille – STANHOPE GRILL

Jurys Boston Hotel

by, C. Paul Luongo

Jurys Hotel opened four years ago at the former site of the Boston Police Headquarters in Back Bay at the corner of Stuart and Berkeley Streets. Stephen Johnston is the General Manager and has done a wonderful job running 223 superior and deluxe guest rooms plus two executive suites and an elaborate Presidential Suite.

Young Bostonians are drawn to the CUFFS bar on the lower level, before entering the main dining room, The Stanhope Grill. I1 BARISTA is a bar-lounge on the main floor.

The STANHOPE GRILL has prepared a new menu for the current season which includes specialties such as Braised Lamb Shank ($34), Tournedos of Beef Tenderloin ($30), Pan Seared Ahi Yellow Fin Tuna Steak ($31) and Fresh Herb Tagliatelle Pasta ($22).

We began by sampling exotic two portion carafes of martinis from their ?Most Wanted? list ($11), including a Green Monster named in honor of the Red Sox, as well as a Watermelon Martini.

Our dining adventure commenced with an Amuse Bouche consisting of a pan seared scallop in a light Miso and PonZo glaze. Fresh Focaccia Bread with delicate herbs, olive oil and imported Irish butter, was a fabulous beginning to a lovely evening. We split an order of Tagliatelle Pasta, tossed with asparagus, olive oil poached tomatoes, kalamata olives and spinach that can be garnished with pecorino Romano cheese. It was the most delectable pasta dish I?ve had in a long time, exceeding the North End and yet prepared by an Irish Chef!

It's a SIX Star Place! – My best friend and I discovered this gem during Restaurant Week about three years ago, and have been hooked ever since. The service is, without question, the BEST I've had in any city and outshines all others in Boston. As noted in the other post, Greg is amazing and incredibly nice, as is the rest of the staff. They're the most professional, accomplished, and genuinely nice people I've ever come across! Not a hint of preciousness or snottiness that many Boston "fine restaurants" have.

The Stanhope is so good that my husband and I held our wedding reception there last weekend, and it couldn't have been more perfect. If our spending over $10K on this place isn't a vote of confidence, I don't know what is! The warm ambiance, comfy seating, and warm glow from the kitchen made all of our guests rave! The room was full of laughter and joy, and the staff were always there before we even noticed we needed something. Again, it couldn't have been better, and I can't praise this place enough, and hence the title seeking a sixth star!

If you want to throw an event that will absolutely be wonderous, THIS is the place. And, if you want a cozy, quiet romantic dinner, the Stanhope will ensure it exceeds your expectations. The food is wonderful, with large portions that are always perfectly cooked. The food isn't cheap, but the entire event and perfect service will be worth every cent you spend.

And, last but not least, we had breakfast at Stanhope after our wedding and it was incredible. Tons of fresh fruit on the buffet, perfect steaks for my parents, and a great waffle for me. SO good!

Great Service, romantic – My boyfriend & I went there last night for Restaurant Week. Our server, Greg was excellent. He was attentive, courteous and very professional. Our meal was delicious. We both started off with the plentiful caesar salad as our appetizer. My entree was the mushroom strudel which again was huge. (but yummy). My boyfriend loved his beef tenderloins. I had no room for dessert but since I ordered off of the restaurnat menu, I indulged in my declicious chocolate ice cream sandwich drenched in chocolate syrup. I couldn't finish it but it was decadent. It's easy to have a conversation here. It has low lighting but it's not dark which was perfect for me. This would make a great 1st date restaurant or a place to catch up with friends. You can wait at the bar Cuffs while you wait for your table.

The Jurys hotel's dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in style. – In Short
Leather seating and modern lighting fixtures match the hotel's trendy yet accessible atmosphere. The diverse menu provides guests with familiar American favorites (roast chicken, seared salmon, fluffy omelets) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dining area extends into an open-air terrace that's popular with area workers and perfect for people watching.
