Happy hour is from 4-7pm weekdays. I love their homemade chili and the vibe here is very chill. This is a great spot to claim a table on the patio and people watch.

Best Place to watch football on the West Side!! – Went to Barney's on the Promenade for the first time this past weekend with some friends to watch the Steelers game - holy s*** is this place awesome!! Not only did we have our game on our own great big flat screen HD tv - but every other NFL games was just a glance away. The bartender on the microphone (I think his name was Brian?) seems to run the show - he made sure everyone in the place knew how to find their teams and was super helpful when my friend asked him to get the Colts game on near where we were seated. With so many tv's and so many fans, I don't know how he keeps it all straight! The beer selection is great and always cold, the food gets the job done. All I know is, we felt like we were taken care of (except when we lost) and we've found our new spot to spend Sundays in Santa Monica!

Good beer selection – Barney's is a fun spot if you are looking to grab a beer and hang out. The bartenders are really nice people and even though they usually have a large crowd to look after they are extremely attentive. My only complaint is that it is often noisy and crowded.

Easily a favorite bar – I'm originally from the Midwest and now live close to the Promenade, and this is easily the best place around the area that we frequent quite a bit. Clubs and the like are fun from time to time, but Barney's is never a bad choice. How would I describe it? Just a good old fashioned bar. It's not some snobby, overpriced "chic" lounge that tries to be super high class (which are unfortunately oversaturrated and a dime a dozen in LA). It's not one of the worthless, dirty, gh.etto/shady clubs in the area like the recently closed down Gotham Hall and Club 213 or whatever it's called. It's just a good time with a great atmosphere, great people, a pretty friendly waitstaff, and more. If you're looking for a chill night and want to try a few random beers from the huge selection, go. If you're in the mood for some shuffle board or air hockey, go. If you want to just get sloppy-drunk and have a great time, go. It's also a great place to catch a game (they have tons of TVs), which we do all the time (especially for Packer football games :)). About the only thing that isn't that great is the food, but it gets the job done and doesn't cost much anyway.

In other words, if you just want to throw on a t-shirt and jeans and drink with some buddies at a non-pretentious bar that isn't overpriced and has a great crowd, this is your place.

I shouldn't even be writing this... – ...because as one reveiwer noted it is one of the best kept secrets on the Westside! It is also the Best place to catch a game. The seemingly typical 3rd Street patio entrance masks a cavernous interior adorned with TV's, Music, and... an ecclectic bunch of junk all thrown together on the walls and booths that takes me back to college. With over 132 Beers I can just see myself starting another empty beer bottle sculture! During gametime stick to the wings, skins or fries, chili and pizza. My personal fav are the Breaded Spicy Cajun Shrimp!

Good sports bar – One of the best places in town to watch a game, what with all the tv monitors and the fact that they always have many games on at once. The food, as at the original West Hollywood location, generally is just okay but the prices are relatively inexpensive for 3rd St. Promenade (a very touristy shopping area). (Actually, at the WeHo location I've found that much of the food is greasy, but you go there for the ambience).

Fun Bar Scene – The bar scene is pretty fun and relaxed here, especially if you can get a table on the patio. However, every time I come here the waitresses are switching shifts, no matter what time of day, and I always get two different waitresses. Literally, this has happened to me EVERY time I go (and it is right down the street from my office, so I go pretty frequently for lunch and happy hour). But they have good bar food and the drinks are reasonable for LA.

Fun, but I like the original one better. – Friday night review:

At 1am, this place was still going strong. The young crowd was really friendly--even the girls were cool. Usually girls at bars are just plain annoying and drunk, but here everyone was really cool when we went on a mission to find toliet paper together. The bar wasn't for dancing yet they insisted on playing really loud music, making conversation impossible. At least they have TV and games. I like the original Barney's for its authentic appeal; I feel like this Barney's is trying too hard to look like the original. The Kamikazes are the best. Watch to make sure the milk in your White Russian isn't curdled--they threw out a gallon of rottten milk before making mine.

Overall, tight attractive crowd that can't quite hold their liquor yet.

The best sports bar on the Westside, by far!!! – This place is incredible!!! The food is great and a good value - nothing like pigs in a blanket with eggs for sub $7 bucks. Then you have the beer selection, it is one of the greats in LA. Lastly, you have the entertainment factor - I think I counted 40+ TVs behind the bar that will always have your favorite TV on. And if you want a booth most have their own TVs just for them. I am not sure about the crowd/wait as I don't tend to hit it at busy times, but I sure do love it when I go.

Great for sports & drinks, not food – Barney's is a great place for watching weekend sports games or getting a drink in the evening with friends. I have been to Barney's a few times to get a couple of drinks with friends and have always had fun. Unfortunatlely, the restaurant's food does not match it's fun and laid back atmosphere. There is an extensive menu, but I still have not found anything on it that is prepared well. This is a great bar with marginal bar food. Definitly a great place to watch Football and get an evening drink. The place is also great for people watching on it's outside patio.

Sprawling sports bar brings grown-up grunge to the glossy Promenade. – In Short
The longtime WeHo pub and grub institution has opened a sister spot on Santa Monica's pedestrian walk, packed with tourists, sports fanatics and young Westsiders. The encyclopedic menu offers dozens of chili plates, burgers and several potato-skin creations, while the bar serves up a dizzying array of international brews. The decor is junkyard chic, with battered license plates and rock memorabilia punctuating any wall space not occupied by a television broadcasting sports.
