Food is poor – I was disappointed by the food at Tantric. The chicken appetizer ressembles something you would find at a Chinese take-away rather than an Indian food restaurant.
thumbs up – Overall, some good, interesting dishes. The bar is impressive and the bartender was friendly. We found the manager to be very pleasant as well. However, I agree with some of the comments about the service. Our server, Victoria, was one of the worst waitresses I've personally ever seen. I'm hoping she no longer works there, because otherwise the place is nice and I'd like to go back.
Favorite in the theater district – While its certainly not the best Indian in town, this is the place I always end up at when seeking dinner in the theatre district.
The food is good, with plenty of options and they've got a very tasty drink menu.
Good service and good people watching.
Sub Par Service – Wow, I was stunned by the lack of service at Tantric. My food came out a good 25 minutes before my date's, we weren't brought plates and it took them a 15 minutes to process the bill. I would not recommend this establishment. The service is the worst I have ever experienced in my life.
User review by aalonso – great place to go after a good movie at the Boston Common theater. The food was really good, the service was excellent and the price was OK. I don't know much about Indian food, so we asked the waiter, who made as some nice recommendations. A great choice. The only con was that we had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated (the place was a bit crowded on a Friday at 9:30pm), but the bar was a good 'waiting point'.
User review by rockyhorrorgirli – i really enjoyed the dinner I had there, and felt that it was well worth the $. For two people expect to pay 30-40 bucks. i tasted the eggplant which was yummy. and i had the chickpeas and also veggie samosas. all were quite tasty!
Unbelievable! A Boston must! – I have grown up eating Indian food all my life and this is the best I've ever had. I've been to Kashmir on Newbury several times and it was a decent experience. But Tantric takes it to a whole other level. The ambience and service were excellent! But the food is unbelievable. After having our appetizers, we ordered another round! They were that good! I had the chicken tikki marsala as my main entree (spicy) and it blew my mind away. Tantric also did justice to the basmati rice. Even the drinks were amazing. Run, do not walk, to this restaurant. It will not disappoint!
Great find – We dined at Tantric before seeing White Christmas at the Wang Centre. We wandered in because it was so cold we didn't want to walk too far. What a great surprise. The decor was very warm and eclectic. Our waitress, Jolie, was very accomodating and prompt.
We ordered a spicy veg salad, somosas for dessert and a couple of entrees whose name escape MY memory but not my tastebud's. The martini choices were interesting and well made.
We will definitely make this our before/after show spot.
Amazing Food – The ambience was average; mostly because we were next to the waiters station so we always had someone working too close to the table. The food was amazing; I had the chicken korma. The portions are smaller than most restaurants, but did not leave me hungry. Our waiter was great and made excellent recommendations. Drinks are definitely over priced. Overall, I would go back for the food!
Crap – I went to Tantric just this week with my b/f we were expecting delicious food but were sorely dissapointed. The portions were small, and all the food was bland. My Lamb Vindaloo tasted like i was eating leather and watery tomatoe sauce, the lamb samosa was so overcooked it was unpalatable, the pear martini tasted like watered down pear juice. My b/f said that his meal was really awful too. I guess its only good to those who have never tasted real authentic indian food------ the homemade kind. And the service was really slow.
