AWFUL SERVICE! – I will preface this review by saying the food here was good..but part of going out and paying extra is also about service. The service makes or breaks a restaurant...

With that said, I experienced the most ridiculous, inappropriate service I have ever had in my life. My friend who lives in the city had ordered a mango lassi that she didn't really enjoy. The texture was very runny..unlike true lassi which is thick. We told her to send it back - she had only drank a quarter before realized it didn't grow on her. The waitress (Monica) comes over and has an attitude about taking the drink back and bringing her another. Her response was "in nyc, this is how lassi is made" - as if my friend was a tourist and/or never had had a lassi before. She brings another and my friend takes a sip and decides to give up on the lassi and just send it back.

We continue to enjoy our meal..the tab comes and we notice it is higher than we were expecting for the 3 of us. Notice that the tab includes a 20% + gratuity on it. We question Monica. She has an attitude about it and says that they have a minimum of $25/person and since we didn't meet that minimum - she added the extra gratuity. We ask to see the menu where this is listed..and it does say this indeed..for PARTIES OF 5 OR MORE! So, we say..this doesnt' make sense as we are a party of 3. She goes on to say that this is the tab and we have to pay it very sternly. And begins to grab our credit cards on the table!! My friend grabs them and says she needs to talk to the manager..and Monica responds, I am the manager! Yes, she did. This was an escalating situation..all because Monica thought she would tip herself generously and we wouldn't catch on.

She sends over the "manager" who we know was another wait staff member. He begins to argue w/ us about the two mango lassis my friend had since Monica's logic held no water. My friend said she had no problem paying for one lassi but take off the gratuity Monica had given herself from our hands. He says he wil charge us for 2 lassis..mind you, my friend didn't even drink a full one. He says "In NYC, when you dont like something you just take it and deal with it." which is soooo far from the truth as any true NYCer will tell you..He also went on to call my friend a "lossser" as he was walking by our table...I was embarrassed for this restaurant.

The service was appalling. I can't believe people treat their customers that way..esp in a recession when we spent a good $50+ there. It's not like we were trying to get out of paying...we would've even tipped Monica prior to all this. But, the wait staff found it better to act childish and turn away customers for life..and I have told everyone in NYC about avoiding this place as a result. It's a shame because the food is tasty (though not very authentic in taste...I'm East Indian.)

Incredible! – I've been looking for an Indian buffet for a while now, and Bombay Talkie came to my rescue right around the corner from where I work in Chelsea. The food was incredible, and the buffet was only $9.99! Indian food is my favorite food and this definitely takes the cake for Indian cuisine in NYC. The mango lasse was delicious, and there is a really cool modern vibe going on inside. If you're looking for excellent Indian food, come check this place out!

Amazing food & drinks! – The food here is AMAZING!!! Much more delicate and tasty that a typical restaurant. And the drinks are an art form! The bartender is truly an artist in mixology! Try the Bombay Bhel as an appetizer and the Toofan drink (muddled fresh mint, lime juice, pomegranate juice, sugar, vanilla rum, cointreau and champagne). So beautifully blended! This place has jumped to the top tier of my favorite restaurants! Will definitely go back again!

Really delicious Indian food – I have been coming here for years, and this place never disappoints.

The drinks are really nothing special so there's no point in mentioning any more on the subject. But the food, oh the food, is really outstanding. I am a vegetarian, albeit not a strict one, and this is the only place that will tempt me to eat lamb, because seriously their lamb chops are the best ever! EVER!

The potato dosa is super delicious. It's more "modern" than what you get at other Indian places. Actually most of the food has a more modern feel which is just fine by me. Really you can't go wrong with anything you order.

And i'm glad I did I saw a beautiful bollywood environment and the food well it was delicious, and the presentations they were beautiful. On a diferent day I decided to order some food and I was glad I did. Bombay Talkie has a fast delivery. The delivery service was fantastic, very polite and respectful. I am facinated with Bombay Talkie and I am defenitely thinking of going back.

Let's add rice and charge $14 instead of $6 in a recession? – Let's take all the side dishes that people seem to order because they are somewhat reasonably priced and add rice to them. We can charge $14 instead of $8. Bye Bye Bombay Talkie..... Nice knowing you...
