You go around try all the new young and trendy, but soon or later you cant help but going back to what is tried and tested and surely will saitisfy you. Especially when you had a few maitai's. Guess what..... suddendly you dont feel bad when you are cheating!!!!!!!

Trader Vic's is back! – Trader Vic's, an old San Francisco tradition, has returned (the original restaurant was located in Cosmo Place downtown, now it is at Civic Center). After a few early glitches, Trader Vic's has hit its stride and is now a fabulous dining and drinking experience. Try the Cosmo Tidbits. The private rooms are especially good for group functions.

A Fine Dine – Many dinners at the new Trader Vic's have convinced me that it is consistently on its way to perfection. The food is always excellent, the service is attentive, and the atmosphere is tropical without being kitschy. Like any new restaurant, it has taken them a while to hit their stride, but they have accomplished it.

Some really good stuff at this place. – Food was spectacular. Have to admit that I was a little skepitcal after reading Bauer's review. Who is he anyhow? He's like a movie critic. Whenever they don't recommend something I have to try it anyway. I had the prawns with Panko and the ribeye from the wood fired oven. The ribeye had more flavor than any I have ever had. My friend had the crab Rangoon and the pork chop and was already in heaven by the time the meal had ended. My other friend had the Bongo Bongo soup and didn't care for it too much. I tasted it and actually liked it. After that he had the almond duck with a plum sauce of some sort and he loved that. He thinks that the duck may have been brined. We didn't do dessert but will next time. A+

Bad & Very Slow Service, Food not there yet! – Our group dined @ trader vics wednesday night. We were amazed however with the decor of the restaurant. When our party got seated, our server took at least 15-20 minutes to come to our table to greet us. Our drinks took another 15minutes to get to us. We understand if the restaurant is busy yes we can make that as an excuse, however that evening werent too busy and our reservations were @ 5:45pm. When the server took our apps order, server did not let us know the specials or nor recommended anything on the menu. The appetizers and our entrees did not look appealing at all. Service is really slow or the server really did not acknowledge us at all. Server also did not recommend any good desserts. The Service is really terrible. Food is really not that great. Experience overall was bad.

Bad Large Group Dining Experince – The food wasn't great, but was decent. Our waitress seemed spaced out and we had to wait a long time for our entrees. The cramped seating arrangements for our group of 10+ was not too comfortable. I've had a much better large group dining experience at the Trader Vic's in Emeryville.
