Ballard Market Micro Class. I recently joined a girlfriend for the Micro market class offered by the store. Not only did we get to try veggies we had seen in the Ballard farmer's (but didn't know how to prepare) we had a great visit during a very relaxed class. I certainly recommend this event for lovely Sunday lunch of celeriac soup, roasted rutabaga and parsnips, kale with bacon and baby carrots, brussel sprouts and tiny potatoes.
Thanks for the great review! Hope to see you back at class again soon.
Great Classes!.
I went to a Sweets for the Streets class with Autumn Martin and learned how to make several varieties of truffle. It was reasonably priced and very educational. The instructor was very knowledgable and lots of fun!
I browsed the shop afterward and found goods that I would find in City Kitchen or Sur la Table but at normal people prices. I'm definately headed back for kitchen goodies...
We can't wait to have you back at Dish it up! Thanks for the review.
Joy of Thai Cooking. My bf and I took Pranee's Joy of Thai Cooking class in the new Ballard store a few weeks ago and, for the most part, enjoyed ourselves. Pranee is a true Thai chef, was humble and humorous, attentive, and fun. The menu she went over was diverse, with five different things, including green curry, wide rice noodles, fresh wraps, tom kha soup, and black sticky rice for dessert. Overall, it was great. The only thing that would have made it better is more student-instructor interaction and more hands-on learning. It was pretty demonstrative, but not too hands-on at all. And, the class was packed, way too many students for the amount of food that was prepared.
Thank you for your feedback. We have definitely learned from our first class here in Ballard with Pranee and have since worked out some of those opening day kinks. We hope to see you and your bf back at another class soon!
Terrific store and class.
Last night's cooking class with Dahlia Lounge chef Brock Johnston was one of the best I've taken and I'm a veteran cooking student.
It was small, hands on and the instructor was so passionate about his work and about teaching us and letting us chop, roll, stir...the meal alone was worth the class fee (wine was included too)
An extra huge bonus was the store's merchandise, and the three of us who came to class bought kitchen things at 10% off-extended all week to cooking students. I'd shop here anyway as the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Keep up the great customer service!
Thank you so much Muffy for the great review! We hope to see you back at Dish it up! soon!
My New Favorite Cooking Store. I love browsing in this store. The staff are so kind and give such personalized service.
Thank you for your posting! We try hard to have an interesting and unique assortment of products on our shelves - perfect for browsing:) I am happy your service experience with us has been so great. Thank you again!
This is the best place to take cooking classes!.
I have taken quite a few cooking classes at Dish It Up and they are always excellent and well worth it. The gourmet equipped kitchen is set up within the store and what is nice about these cooking classes is that you get to enjoy the food that is prepared afterwards with wine. The food is served on real dishes with glassware and silverware. It's almost like eating in a restaurant.
I love to cook and I am always pleasantly surprised of the cooking tips that I learn from the chefs. You also get a 10% discount in the store so you can shop before or after the class for all those nifty gadgets or things you want.
I just took a pasta class with Chef Jordi of the highly rated Cafe Lago. I was excited that the home made fresh egg pasta recipe that we did in class came out perfect using my KitchenAid pasta attachment. The Tagliatellli with Tuscan Sugi di Carne that I made was yummy. I can't wait to make the roasted butternut squash ravioli and Sugo di Pomodoro con Panna (Tomato cream and vodka sauce) that was also taught in the class.
I highly recommend these cooking classes.
Thank you for letting us know of your positive experience! We really appreciate your support and we look forward to seeing you again at Dish it up! soon.
Best Kitchen Store in Seattle. I have been shopping at Dish It Up since it opened in our Magnolia neighborhood and I love this store. They always seem to have what I am looking for including hard to find kitchen gadgets, and now they even sell the perfect wines for every occasion. I haven't tried the cooking classes yet but I understand they are terrific. In my opinion you can't go wrong shopping at Dish It Up.
Thank you so much Maureen! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Amazing shop in Magnolia. What an amazing place to shop for anything for the kitchen! And it is in the heart of Magnolia! I have bought too many things to mention, for myself, birthdays, weddings, christmas gifts, etc. The staff is so helpful and Andrea, the owner, knows everything about having the latest gadgets and kitchen supplies. Also an amazing wine selection!
Thank you!
Amazing Kitchen Store in Magnolia - Great Wine Too!. This place is in the heart of Magnolia and has a great selection of top cooking gear, great selection of local, California, and European wines, and wine accessories. I bought a gift here for my wife (decanter) and my mom (paring knife) and they loved them! thanks dish-it-up! I'm not sure there is a better kitchen store on the planet.
