great date night – We had a really amazing time here - I took my gorgeous girlfriend, we had a wonderful server, the food was great.. in general, just an awesome time. Great atmosphere for a date!
Love this place – This place is great! I love to read all the reviews about the old chef.....Kevin Sousa??????? Ummmm who is he??????? You must be kidding. Chris Bonifili made this restaurant great. Mr. Sousa can't hold a match to Chris's creativity and flavors. We were sad to see Chris move on but have found that his replacement is amazing also. His rib eye and lamb dishes are great. They also make a fabulous burger. We dine here weekly and are always pleased
Not what it used to be – This is one of the 1st restaurants I tried 3 years ago when I was looking at Pittsburgh as a new place to live. In fact I loved that this corner restaurant was progressive and located in an area that you could see what up and coming. I am not sure what happened, but the overall quality has severely slipped. I've heard rumors that there is a new chef(s) but that hardly seems like it would be the complete problem. The staff is not knowledgeable of products, they are slow to the draw, and the execution of their cocktails is rather lazy for a restaurant driven bar menu. The pros are that it is a slightly older crowd and parking is fairly easy in the Walgreens lot across the street. Frankly, Kelly's across the street is a more unique and enjoyable experience.
the best bar food EVER – The drinks were great, but most impressive was the food menu for the bar. The lounge is welcome break from standard pittsburgh bars; there is a great mix of crowd, namely no college students. will definitely be going back.
Total Package – Whenever I travel to the Pittsburgh, I go out of my way to dine at the Red Room Cafe. It is an experience than is not easily matched in other large cities. I'm glad I found this gem.
Every aspect of the dining experience exceeds my expectation, even after I've dined there many times! The staff is professional and friendly, the decor is comfortable and I feel relaxed when I'm there. Like resort, but with better food.
The best part is the creativity of the drink menu. What ever your dispostion, the staff can recommend a drink to compliment your mood.
thank you for being the best – my wife and two of our friends tried the red room for the first time two weekends ago and we were truely impressed! i thought the atmoshere was incredible. low lights, great artwork on the deep red walls, and a cozy fireplace. the food totally matched the decor. it did take a little while to get our entrees but it was well worth the wait. i had a NY strip steak with a lobster sauce and some sort of cheddar mashed potatoes that paired nicely to the rich sauce.the other entrees were fantastic as well, my wife had the salmon dish which was very colorful and delicious. our frinds had the filet and chicken. i did not see much of those plates becauce the didnt want to share so can only image the were great. our server was very helpful in picking out the perfect wine to go with our dinner. of course we indulged in desert and so glad we did. i ordered what was called mini baked alaska tasting, i was three mini sized ice cream scoops with whipped egg white crust that was browned. on the bottom i found little cookies that were still warm. i am definetly going back and telling my friends that our expirence was terrific.
he seems to be doing something right? – i want to like the red room. i live two blocks away. the food is just inedible. i went to see what your boy was up to down at his consulting gig...yo rita in the south side. he is doing exactly what he should have been given the opportunity to do at your establishment, create deliciously interesting food that is unlike anything out there. the problem that many failing restaurants in this city are facing is their complete lack of trust in their own guests to embrace the new instead of grasp on to the old and stale.
Great ambience, drinks and food – This restaurant has a fabulous ambience - sophiticated and comfortable. The big leather couches are great for cocktails. The meals are superb. It is a nice romantic restaurant where you can enjoy dining without feeling rushed at all. The service is top-notch.
Diamond in the rough.. – Did not know what to expect but once inside was greeted by plush decor and friendly service. Intimate atmosphere, good for personal or business dining and lounging. Food was satisfying in portion and the taste exceptional. Wasn't made to feel rushed and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive. A tad pricey but the overall experience was well worth the price.
Delicious – As always our dinner was fabulous. The atmosphere is both artistic and romantic.
