NEVER GOING BACK – I've been here before, and it was mostly funny and a bit trashy but a good time.
then, my friend tried to have her bachelorette party here. HUGE MISTAKE.
They wouldnt let us in because we were "too intoxicated" which was a load of crap, as we showed up at around 10:00 fully prepared to drink, but not yet having gotten the party started!
they advertise this kind of party, but have no respect for their patrons. We were treated like a group of rowdy teenageers by the egomaniac of a bouncer, when more than half of the group had not had ONE DRINK YET, and the other half had wine over dinner. I watched them turn away three bachelorette parties, yet allow in poorly dressed girls CLEARLY drinking from open containers, and one girl who fell on her face in the line. They were not "too intoxicated" but my group of friends - half of whom were SOBER - apparently were.
The manager refused to give me his name for a complaint, and when i asked what exact behavior he deemed "too intoxicated" for us to be allowed in, he said we "stumbled"
dear sir, YOU try walking down the cobble-stone hill in 6 inch heels without stumbling.
I have never encountered a more rude or arrogant bouncer in my life, and i will never return to this joke of an establishment.
The best Rodeo in town – Alot of people have mixed reviews about this place, but I think Liquor Store is really misunderstood. Yes its a place for girls to get wild and you can dance all night but its not trashy as people are saying. Remember, this is the only place in Boston that has a mechanical bull...how cool is that! The drinks are pretty good, the crowd is always alot of fun and i really like the DJ's tear it up. Compared to the clubs/bars in the area, this is pretty much an absolute fun night.
READ THIS! Terrible Experience – Let me start by saying that I've attended this club before, about a year ago, and had a very good time. This was not the case on Saturday night. My party of 16 people and I arrived at the club at about 10:30pm. The girls had called in a "girls night out reservation" which is supposed to allow the ladies front of line admission with no cover charge. Well, they were told that the reservation was never received and to wait in line with the guys. This was just the start. After waiting in line I was the first one to reach the door man checking ID's, at which point I was told that i would not be allowed in because my Cowboy boots didn't meet the dress code. Now I'm not talking about beat-up old work boots. These are 250.00 dollar Ariat boots that are nicer then most dress shoes. After arguing my point and stating the fact that the dress code says nothing about cowboy boots, and mentioning that it seemed odd that a place with a mechanical bull would turn away a guy wearing cowboy boots the door man said he would make an exception but that i was lucky and not to show up wearing them again. I couldn't believe his arrogance, but said thanks and shook his hand as i walked past.
This part is that really blows my mind, please read on. The next two people in line were good friends of mine and obviously with our group. One of my friends presents a Massachusetts State Liquor ID to the door man, because he doesn't have a drivers license, and is told that its not an acceptable form of identification, even though it says right on the web site that it is! He was not allowed in and told to get out of line with no explanation all. The girl behind him, also with my party shows her Valid Maine State issued drivers license and is told that she needed a Mass ID to get in! I almost fell over when i herd this. It was the most ridiculous lie id ever seen someone tell with a straight face. While all this was going on four other people in my party got checked in by the other doorman and paid cover.
I confronted the 1st doorman and asked for him to explain the problem with the ID's, he proceeded to threaten to kick me out if i didn't " shut up" and then turned his back on me without so much as another word. Now he knew he wasn't letting my friends in, so why threaten me? Just to show me how much of a big shot he thought he was, i guess?? Anyway, we all left, I told him what I thought of the B.S. show he runs there.
If your the owner of this club your doorman on 11/13/2010 cost you $947.19 in Liquor sales because we walked up the road to Gypsy Bar and that was the bar tab at the end of the night., Maybe you should tell him Thank You.
Bachelorettes Beware!! – I came to The Liquor Store last night for my bachelorette party and I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!! I came outside with a friend to smoke a cigarette and a female bouncer told me I "couldn't come back in". She would not tell me why. I wasn't starting a fight and I wasn't falling down drunk. Was I drinking? Of course!! It was my bachelorette party and we had a limo! As a matter of fact, as part of our package I got a bachelorette "survival kit" which included Aspirin and a penis straw...I waited about 30 minutes for the rest of my party to come out and when I asked the bouncers for the owner's name they wouldn't tell me, and then gave me a fake name. The bottom line is, this place advertises itself as a big bachelorette party destination, but there are better places in Boston that actually treat their customers with respect. Bachelorettes, don't do it!!!
Fun place to drink and dance! – Found out about this club through InstantNightLife website, so I skipped the line and knew what kind of music was playing. Had a blast! Dance floor was bumpin all night
Mechanical bull – Cheap cover and good music like it was said on instantnightlife's website. Trashy girls but I like it that way!
Hit or miss – I suggest checking the InstantNightlife website before heading out here... Liquor Store ranges from completely packed to kind of quiet depending on the night. But fun times with the mechanical bull regardless...
Would have been fun, except for ... – Eight of us went out to the Alley for a bachelorette party. We went to Suite first and it was fine. The bride to be wanted to try somewhere else and knew about the mechanicalbull, so we went to the Liquor Store. Good cover, $5 is awesome in Boston. (Except that the bouncer at Suite let us in for free since he saw my friend all dolled up). Ordered drinks, two rode the bull-thing (no real line) but it was when we attempted to get a few shots where the problem started. One of the girls ordered a round and was told that the shots were $8.75. The big issue was that it was the size of one of those little caps on Children's Motrin, used for measuring teaspoons? My friend only had $1 left for a tip and apologized, saying she didn't realize how pricey the shots were and she knows that wasn't the bartender's fault. The bartender called her manager and my friend got thrown out for "yelling and berating" his staff. We were all standing there wondering what he was talking about, because she spoke no differently than when she was talking to us, or to him (hello? Club? Loud music??) He wouldn't listen to anything anyone had to stay and my friend (and then, all of us) had to leave. All because she tip the high-and-mighty bartender what she thought she deserved. With attitude like that, a dollar was being generous.
It's sad, because of that stupid bull-ride (which is purposely flung around by the guy controlling it in a way to make girls chests pop out of their shirts) that they probably won't lose any business and people will still continue to go to this place. The music was good, it was crowded (but not overly) and had it not been for the staff, we would have had a great time.
Most rediculous night of my life – anyone there on new years and happen to see the blonde girl kicked out ? got kicked out for asking if she could have the last ride on the machanical bll and then being tossed out...being dragged out by staff and police...balling with no shoes on? was forced to stay outside knowing no one in boston but her friends inside..but they wouldnt let her get them..got frostbite and bruised all over her arm . bruises from being dragged out multiple times and frostbite on both feet from being outside and no shoes for a couple of freezing hours? never go here it was out of control...the police later stated they were hit...not true they all disgust me..
UNPROFFESIONAL STAFF RUINED OUR NIGHT – I would like to start off by saying that I am a bartender at one of Bostons well known bars. I know the headaches that some patrons of the nightlife can be..but what happened to me and my freinds was out of line. I went to Liqour store this past Friday to see what it was all about, and I had some out of town freinds from NH and NY come, since they never went out in Boston. The rudest cockiest bouncer ruined our night. None of us were drunk, in fact we were just finishing our first drink, when one of my freinds went up to the bouncer and asked him were the bathroom was. He took my friend in a secluded area of the club and told him to go through this random door, and then told him he was to "get the F..outta here"...FOR NO REASON!! I was in completly utter shock. It was not even 12:30 am when we all decided to leave with him, beacuse this was no way to treat a person who was not causing truoble and wasnt not even drunk. Even the police officers outside was in disbeleif and wanted to help, but in the end we didnt want to go back anyway ....I will never go back to this place, and i will never recommend people to go there either....what a shame.
