BAD BAD Attitude BUT Good Ambience & Wine – My husband and I had been walking in the rain for an hour looking for the perfect place to sit at a bar to have a glass of wine and some appetizers when we happened upon Frederick's. I was so excited because it was just what I had envisioned - cool decor with a cozy little bar area for us to rest our weary & wet feet. The experience however was somewhat ruined by the incredibly attitude filled service and overall lack of friendliness. I think the owners really need to rethink their approach (if this unfriendly attitude-filled approach is intentional). Their restaurant has such potential because the wine was excellent, the appetizers tasty and the ambiance perfect. If they could improve their service the restaurant would be something truly special. One more thing, I ordered some house glasses of wine (at $14 dollars a glass mind you) and was given my wine in a cheap party glass. I noticed that they had nicer glasses and asked the bartender for one. He reluctantly told me that the nice glasses were reserved for customers purchasing better wines. How's that for some attitude!

Avoid period. Bad customer service, too much attitude – If you like euro trash spots that overcharge and don't care about customers, then hang out all you want. It's the worst managed place I've ever been or tried to organize a party at. No wonder the French have such a bad rap. it's also lame that two of these 5-star reviews were done by an owner.

Best Veal Hanger EVER!!!!!!! – I don't know why people write bad reviews about this place...but I can tell you that this is one of my favorite places in Upper East Side. I went one week ago for my friend's birthday and had a wonderful time! It's a great place for beautiful people watching...always crowded and the food is delicious!!!! The staff is very friendly and I highly recommend it to everybody! And by the way they changed their name...it's called Jour et Nuit!

MUST GO!!!

No concept of customer service, place is history. – My friend and I had booked the entire place for a DJ party for a friend's birthday on a recent Saturday night. We had 600 people who had RSVPed to come. When we got there at 10pm that Sat night the manager (Rocco) told us the A/C had just broken, and gave us 2 fans. This is a subterranean 2-room lounge, none with windows on a hot humid Manahattan weekend. My friend and I tried various #s via 411 to get a 24 hr A/C repair person. Frederick's manager had disappeared from the club. It's now 12 midnight and people are arriving, and leaving en masse due to the heat. We used the manager's office PC to Google an A/C company, had them on the phone, ready to come over and fix the problem, when Rocco walked in, slammed down the phone, and told us to get out of his office. No A/C repairman came. He did NOTHING. He didnt care about 600 customers leaving and not spending money at his overpriced bar. I just found out tonight that the AC was already broken on Friday night, so he lied about that too, knowing we were arriving with a LARGE party (did I mention 600 people RSVPed) on Saturday. Why didnt they fix it on SaturDAY when people were available. He knew he had a party reservation that night.

So FREDERICKS dont care about their customers' comfort. - 2 nights in a row on a September weekend in NYC. I feel sorry for the fools who paid up the $1000-4000 fee to become members of this "semi-private" lounge. One star is the lowest I could rate this place - no 0 star option. Such a pity - place has a lot of potential and the bar staff are fine. Just the manager, and whatever management policy allows him to act like this.... Completely repulsive and unacceptable. Spread the word. This place is history.

You'll be judged at the door. – This place is soooo lame. I called ahead just to see if I needed to make reservations and they said it wasn't necessary. As soon as I show up to the front the guy at the door is guarding the oh-so-important velvet rope and tells us that there's a 'dress code' to the pretentious hole in the wall behind him. In actuality, if you look like you're in your 20's then you are out of luck. If you want to hang out with 40+ year olds trying to be trendy and hip then this is the place to be.

Exclusive night spot that specializes in sushi, service and secrecy. – In Short
Patrons are marked with a stamp of approval upon entry into the subterranean space. DJ Dove reigns over the intimate rooms, offering plush seating, curved lines and pan-Asian cuisine to nonmembers with a heavy wallet. Those willing to pay $800 a year for membership gain access to the rear lounge and priority seating in the sushi room. Menu options include sweet soy lacquered New York squab, pan roasted wild striped bass, sushi rolls and crispy white chocolate ravioli.

Fabulous Lounge/Restaurant – There is not another place like Frederick's in New York City. My boyfriend did not like sushi when we first dined at Frederick's over a year ago. Since then, he cannot get enough of their salmon roll, and spicy tuna roll. In addition, the short ribs are outrageous! It is the perfect reprieve after shopping at Bergdorf's. They have ladies night every Thursday and ladies drink for free from 5-9 pm- great crowd! We also hang out there late at night instead of going to the over crowded Meatpacking district. It is an upscale crowd- and they have some of the wildest parties! The staff too deserves a mention- super friendly, and SEXY!! This is definitely a restaurant/lounge to visit for any occassion, at ANY time!!

User review by jj1132 – I had the pleasure of attending Frederick's for the first time a few months ago and have returned several times since. On each occasion I have come early to eat and ended up staying late to party. The food and drink is phenomenal, the staff is friendly (not to mention gorgeous), and the crowd is always top notch. The short ribs, spicy tuna, and salmon avacado are personal favorites, but I have yet to be disappointed by a menu item. After dinner the music is just as fresh as the sushi, and there are plenty of attractive guests to dance with. A rest/lounge at its best!

Amazing Sushi, Seafood & Wine! – My dinner last week at Frederick's was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. The sushi was fresh, and uniquely prepared. The "white" soy sauce was remarkable. Very light and complimented the fish wonderfully. The yellow tail sashimi was delicious. My entree was the slow baked cod fish which was also splendid. The lychee martini was one of the best in NYC as well. As always, the Sancerre was great too! Overall a perfect 10!
