Who's letting this food out of the kitchen? – When I noticed the canned peaches in our pitcher of sangria, I was concerned. The hard-as-a-rock focaccia brought to the table didn't help matters, but we tried to keep an open mind. At least the red pepper dipping sauce was nice, if slightly oily. Three salad appetizers were unspectacular (but really salty), and the fourth was just plain bad - fried calamari that tasted like rubber bands coated in salt. Fine, sometimes calamari don't turn out well - for as simple and common a dish as it is, it can be hard to get right. But the main courses just put us over the edge. The gluey Orecchiette Portofino I ordered came swimming in a bath of oil. Another orecchiette dish with sausage had an unidentifiable funky flavor that we all tasted and tried to pin down... in the end I think it may have been an overabundance of pecorino, but regardless - pecorino shouldn't be this hard to identify, and this was just off. Salmon was underdone and a bit slimy, with a side of salted-to-death vegetables. The only bright spot in the meal was the braised short rib special - tender and very tasty. Probably because it required the least amount of handling by whoever was in the kitchen. Man, even the biscotti that came with the check tasted old - hard in the middle and moisture-softened on the outside. We ate here a couple of years ago and were disappointed but thought we'd give it another shot. Now I just have to wonder how a place like this stays afloat in a neighborhood full of people so knowledgeable about food and freshness. The coop is just a couple doors down! These "organic' (really?) ingredients tasted like they'd been languishing in a corner deli. A shockingly disappointing meal.

Quality Italian in Park Slope – Scottadito has been a very nice addition to the Park Slope culinary scene over the past couple of years. I can't speak to brunch so much, as I haven't been in over two years (and there have been some recent negative comments regarding brunch), but my experience there has always been pleasant. The food is consistently good, in my experience. It's one of the few restaurants in the neighborhood that is fully organic. I've enjoyed a variety of dishes over the years, and haven't really had anything that I could say was bad. The service is attentive, there's a fireplace which adds to the atmosphere. The prices are relatively inexpensive, and given the quality, as long as you're not expecting Babbo or Il Mulino, you should have a good experience. Also, you never know if you're going to dine next to one of Park Slopes celebrities!

Over-rated! – Only someone who doesn't know Italian food can eat here! The bolognese is like dogfood with jarred marinara. A testimony to the surprising poor qualiy of food in Park Slope.t

Too many other good places around to go back – Avoid brunch if you are going there for the fresh ingredients - surcharge for organic eggs seems odd for a restaurant that is all about organic and free range. Optimal if you want all you can drink mimosas - otherwise, skip this brunch. Had a steak there for dinner - and it was fantastic, while the pasta was just ok. Too many other great places around to go back here.

Organic - but only with a menu surcharge for brunch? Lame. – Avoid brunch, but dinner is good. For a restaurant that prides itself on using antibiotic and hormone free ingredients - they charge $2 extra for organic eggs at brunch. I don't get it - I recommend taking the "organic" off the awning - seems like a marketing ploy to me. But won't be back for brunch again....

What's going on? – I want to love this place more. Michele and his staff are wonderful and the food was great at least what was avail. to us. So much of the menu was "out" that I had the embarrasment chills for our waitress. How are you out of Coke, good Vodka, Cannoli, and Salmon in the same sitting? Like I said the food was great but something feels a bit off here now. like others have mentioned with so many places doing such a wonderful job in the hood there's no need to settle for second best. Get it together guys....

So average, i don't know how they do it! – Brunch sounded better than it tasted. Dinner tasted like Bay Ridge; but i know it was "organic Park Slope" style. I don't get it. Are they still open? Is there a microwave in the back?

A Goldmine! – This Tuscan restaurant is incredible. The food is absolutely delicious! All the time! I've taken so many peole here (family, friends and co-workers) and they've, in turn, gone there with their guests. Scottadito's prix-fixe prices are unheard of for level of cuisine. Owner Paolo is so friendly. My second time there, when my daughter and I asked what specific cold cuts the Affeteti Misti platter consisted of, Paulo pulled up a chair, sat down with us and patiently went over everything! He even lingered a few moments later simply to converse with us!

User review by babyspinach – Went first and tried a meat entree, went again to give the pasta a chance. Totally mediocre on both counts. With so many top-notch restaurants in and around Park Slope these day, this place is a joke.

Umm, No, not a good place to eat. – Tremendous disappointment with poorly executed, tasteless small portions and high prices.

The octopus appetizer had no octopus! I called the wait staff over to see! No comment from them. The pasta special was well, special, if you like an overcooked glob of gluey noodles and a coagulated cream sauce. We sent it back! Yes, we sent back pasta in an Italian restaurant. The rabbit was boring and tasteless. Shucks. BTW, the restaurant was only half full but dinner took over 2.5 hours to be served to us. Unusual, yes.

However, it was equally surprising to see "Cash Only" on the bill and "ATM in basement." C'mon now -- the owner has his own ATM with a 2.50 surcharge instead of paying a Credit Card discount rate.

We tried it, but overall, we won't be going back. There simply is much better Italian eating in this neighborhood.
