Wonderful, relaxing, rejuvenating! – It has been over a year since I received the Island Espresso Mud Wrap from Lauren. It has been on my mind to write this review ever since. To be honest, it was so memorable that I am here, a year later, finally writing the review.
Lauren's intuitive touch and peaceful presence burns a memory in my entire being that still has its affects right now as I go back to it! I feel it in my cellular memory, taking me to sandy shores and warm tropical breezes. Her warm hands finding their way to every inch of me that needed attention. I am drifting now even as I write this.
What occurred to me after the healing session was to give her the highest compliment I could muster in my melted state...When I am laying on my death bed, remembering the best of my years, the sweetness of this hour will come to mind.
Attentive and Caring – The whole experience was wonderful from check in to check out. I had the Kanani No Ka Oi spa package which included a body wrap and facial with Lauren. I never felt rushed and the facilities were very clean. When I left, my face and body felt better than I had expected and I was really relaxed.
I have very sensitive face skin - I think more sensitive than most - which I expressed to my therapist. I explained to her some of the issues I've had with my face and the types of products I use to clean it. I also had recently used a product suggested to me by a friend which had left my face inflamed and broken out. Lauren, the therapist, not only was familiar with the products, but also made some excellent recommendations. She also took the information I provided to customize a facial that soothed and nourished my skin. I was a bit nervous when I ordered the facial because I had had one before at different spa and my face was red and on fire for more than 3 days. But I felt heard at Kanani and will definitely return for more facials.
The volcanic body wrap was also terrific. I have really dry skin, but this treatment left it softer than I've ever known and the whole experience was relaxing. Lauren clearly loves what she does!
In terms of the facilities - I was lead into the waiting area at the back of the studio where tea and light snacks were provided. When my therapist appeared ready for me, she saw that I was still drinking my tea and let me have a few more minutes. I didn't feel rushed. I was also given a robe and slippers for comfort. The private shower/steam stall was a very nice touch. It left me with the impression that I was the only one being focused on. It also allowed me the freedom to relax in silence. They provided soap and shampoo and conditioner if you want to wash your hair.
This was my first treatment at Kanani Pearl, but I have every intention of returning. Since I'm on a budget, it's nice that they have a regular weekly discount for spa packages. Overall, this was a lovely experience and I highly recommend Kanani.
Best Place for Endermologie - Hands Down! – The Kanani Pearl staff is extraordinary - see Megan for facials and see Peggy for Massages and Endermologie. They are both experts who live and breathe the 5 star experience. Try the endermologie - I promise it works!! My partner and I have had such positive experiences here that we will never go to a different spa!!
Best facials in Portland – I have been a professional model (local and national) for over ten years, and therefore skin care is a top priority in this field. I can't tell you how many facials I had before Kanani that felt like I would have been better off using a Walgreens mask at home. To be honest, I really never saw the value in facials at all until I was introduced to Kanani. Now I've been going to Megan Kitchen RELIGIOUSLY for over 3 years and every time I am stunned by her talents, Kanani's innovative products (always keeping up do date with the top research) and best of all, the results. It seems that so much of what makes a facial successful is the aesthetician's ability to combine her knowledge of the products with a strong intuition as to what the skin needs at that particular moment in time... I can honestly say, Megan succeeds with this every time.
I recommend Kanani to every model, make-up artist, friend, and family member who is less that 100 percent satisfied with their present skin-care routine. And usually I am provoked to say where I go, because my skin has only gotten more luminous and beautiful as I've aged. Thanks Megan!!!!
Best, by far..... – As a regular spa goer, it is the little things that give the experience value. I've been going to Kanani for years because it is all the little ways they make me feel-special, relaxed, healthy, welcomed, and honored. Megan has give me good direction for my skin. Dara is an exceptionally skilled massage therapist, and Kristen is strong and apparently studied in Thailand. I never do these reviews but after reading some of the unkind remarks, I had to say something since I do believe in the LAW OF ATTRACTION. Thanks for being here, Kanani....Caroline
We strive to ensure everyone who walks into the spa is treated with that attention to the little details. The key is having a staff with such little turnover. They work really well together.
Great experience!! – A friend gave me a gift of the "Ultimate Wellness" package at Kanani Pearl spa. I was greeted by a very kind and attentive receptionist and I was escorted back to an area to wait for my therapist. I sipped some tea and then was met by my therapist Cherilyn, who gave me a wonderful seaweed wrap...including a very relaxing time in the steam. After my wrap I was taken back to the sanctuary and given a delicious snack of cheese and fruit while I waited for my next treatment. I had an awesome hot stone massage by Dara and felt absolutely
fantastic when I left the spa. An all around great experience. I recommend it to all.
Waxing in the dark? – I have generally had good experiences at Kanani Pearl, and I have been a loyal client for nearly two years. However, I have been waxed (eyebrows and upper lip) by one of their estheticians (the manager's daughter, interestingly) twice. Both times, she did not use the magnifying light... or any light at all!... and waxed me in the dark. As a result, large patches of hair on both my eyebrows and upper lip were not removed. In addition to the patches of hair left on my face, patches of wax were left on my face, as well. If I am going to pay to be waxed, I do not want to spend thirty minutes at home immediately after my appointment removing hair and wax that was left by an esthetician. Both experiences were incredibly frustrating, and I am reconsidering my loyalty to this spa, especially in light of their most talented esthetician's recent departure.
We are here to serve our clients and welcome the opportunity to correct situations that need to be remedied. Loyal Client – I am, and have been a client of Kanani Pearl Spa for 3 years and have had nothing but truly EXCELLENT experiences. I have felt genuinely cared for by the staff and each time I leave, I am eager to return. I happened to read the review "Never go to Kanani Pearl Spa" and felt compelled to write something that more accurately represents the quality of this establishment. It seems that what was described was quite a stressful situation for the owner and her staff and my concern goes mainly to the faint Manager. I hope she is doing well and recovering from the incident. It is unfortunate that this previous reviewer lacked compassion for this delicate situation.
Never go to Kanani Pearl Spa - for attitude or anything else – I went in to buy a gift certificate for a massage for a good friend's birthday gift. I asked for a tour of the spa and halfway through the tour the manager almost fainted (literally) and had to be helped by an employee. So I was left at the register asking the owner about possible packages I could purchase. She was incredibly snooty and vague about the types of massages. Then, after I paid for a package, they couldn't get the gift certificate to print. She told me they were having technical difficulties. Finally she said, "I'm just not doing this" and asked me for my card back so she could credit it. I felt the same, frankly, but still asked her if it was anything personal. She said, "no", but there I was, having come some distance to get there and being left with nothing, even though I had paid because, presumably, she decided she wasn't in the mood to try to solve the issue printing the gift certificate. The whole experience of just trying to buy a gift certificate was completely ridiculous. I can't fathom these people could manage a massage. What if they weren't in the mood for that? VERY bad business practices. Insulting and rude, when it was their fault all around.
Sometimes when dealing with the public there are some people who are not ?right? for your business and you have to ask them to go elsewhere. These situations are regrettable. Mary Ellen, Owner
